Back in 1999 when Liquid Force entered the kiteboarding industry, it wasn’t even an industry. It a was bunch of washed up old windsurfers trying to rehab their dying sport with kites. That year LF had one kiteboard, the pickelfork, which became the world’s first molded production kiteboard, and one funky two-line kite, called the “Flight Kite” that pulled like a truck and only came in three sizes. Wow….things have sure changed…. 10 years later, things look a bit different! We’ve seen the emergence of truly surfing with kites and the return of boot style bindings and wake style riding! The new Generation 3 Havoc introduces the USB 2.0 – Ultra Stable Bridle Technology. This simplistic yet ultra effective bridle design, delivers total depower with a short throw of the bar while providing precise control of the kite while fully de-powered. The new Havoc also features a flatter arc for 2009, which delivers increased lift and extended hang-time. LF has also added its new MPC canopy technology which incorporates a wider section in the canopy at the trailing edge of the kite. This feature provides more low end power without altering the kite’s aspect ratio and sacrificing that sweet lift that the Havoc is known for. The Havoc, which has been known in the past for its light yet predictable bar pressure, now offers a slightly more direct feel, while still preserving a comfortable level of bar pressure. Influence The Influence is a complete new board designs offered for the 2009 line. To create the Influence, Jimmy Redmon teamed up with LF team rider Jason Slezak. Their goal was to create a completely new board that would ultimately be the kiteboard to Jason’s current pro model the “Mission”. Jimmy, utilizing his knowledge gained from past years of building ABS c o l l e c t i o n predecessor sandwich construction boards, has advanced the technology in Slezak’s pro model one step further. The design platform of the Influence brings with it more detailed features than ever before; a variable edge rail (similar to the Mission), contoured multi channeled bottom shape, compression molded top deck contours, and a kite specific flex pattern. This board is equally at home throwing down fast powered tricks, landing big airs, hitting sliders, or slashing turns in the surf. The Rawson LF Quad was designed to carve and edge well, using the extra fin power on the rail. Normal 3 fin designs have great predictability, but the back fin tends to stiffen the board up in maneuvering. We have found that the quads do surf looser in wave riding as well as edge and point upwind better. I designed the LF Quad boards with a slightly inverted diamond tail making this board fast right out of the gate, and more all around in performance over a swallowtail design.

The Skate is a time proven design that I improved on by adding a 3+2 fin configuration. With the 3+2 concept, the rider is able to use the five boxes as either a three fin or 4 fin configuration depending on the size and conditions of the surf. The round tail design is the morph of all tail designs in one, making this Rawson LF Skate one of our most well rounded, predictable designs.

This board design is like an exotic Ferrari, designed to go faster than any conventional design. The 6’er concept is a Twin Fin, with 4 extra inward fins mounted just ahead of the Twin Fins. They are canted out to loosen the board’s turning radius, and free the outside fins once this design is in a turn and put on the rail. The best description for this design is: each turn placed, is like shifting through the gearbox of an exotic car with a turbo power plant.

EVF technology is 21st century. Vacuum bag technology has been around for many years, but the EVF team has taken it to a new level with specially cut on a bias fiberglass cloth layers, giving a more hand-lam feeling regarding overall board flex. These boards also have exotic, knock out paint jobs designed to look great, and block out harmful UV rays. The paintjob and the extra cloth layers tend to keep this board in the lineup with its increased strength and longer lifetime.
