January 7, 2022 Dear SJA Families, I hope this finds you doing well and staying healthy during these first days of 2022. As you are aware, the situation surrounding COVID-19 and its variants is changing daily. The recent surge in positive COVID-19 cases, both within the St. Joseph Academy community and the greater Brownsville community, has caused St. Joseph Academy to reassess our situation on campus. New COVID-19 cases are being reported to the school each day and currently 10% of the SJA student population has tested positive returning from the Christmas break. Due to this increase, along with the community surge, Saint Joseph Academy will be transitioning to its Distance Learning Program from January 10th – January 14th. The school will reevaluate the situation next week and determine if in-person instruction will resume on January 17th. The school schedule will continue on its normal rotation next week. Teachers will share information with their classes regarding the synchronous instruction and Zoom links for next week. Please be sure students check both their SJA email and Google Classrooms. All athletic competitions and practices will continue next week, as scheduled. The school will increase its preventative and precautionary safety measures during practices and competitions to help minimize the risks of exposure. Should your child test positive for COVID-19 in the coming days, please be sure to notify the school immediately. We thank you for your continued flexibility and cooperation during these ever-changing times. Please know that we keep all of you in our prayers. Be safe and be well. Blessings, SJA Administration
