Dreams and Spiritual Growth (Bolander) Tuesdays, October 4-November 8 from 6:45-8:30PM | In-Person The Dreams and Spiritual Growth group will meet over the course of six weeks to explore and interpret our own personal dreams using ancient Judeo-Christian and modern dreamwork

Our course of study will be guided by the book Dreams and Spiritual Growth: A Judeo-Christian Way of Dreamwork by Louis Savary, Patricia Berne, and Strephon Kaplan Williams. 25 Books Every Christian Should Read (Krusie) Tuesdays Monthly at 6:30PM | Ongoing | In-Person & Zoom 25 Books is the study of classic Christian literature such as Confessions, The Imitation of Christ, Mere Christianity, and many others. Black Authors Book Club (Boswell) Tuesdays Monthly at 7PM | Ongoing | In-Person & Zoom The BABC selects books by various black authors and meets monthly to discuss. Selections are made by class participants. Next meeting on September 20. What Does It Mean to Be a Good Father? (Burton-Krieger) Tuesdays October 11-November 15 from 8:30-9:30PM | Zoom Join a new dad and a seasoned one to think strategically about our role and how we launch healthy sons and daughters into the world. Sunrise Book Study (Brandt) Wednesdays at 8:30AM | Zoom Expect a time of devotions, celebrations, and prayer requests followed by discussion of non-fiction books. Pastor’s Book Study (Pastors) Wednesdays at 10AM | Starts August 24 | In-Person & Zoom Pastors rotate leading discussion on various books. First book is “A Boy in Brooklyn” by Adolph Hansen, where he discusses lessons learned while growing up in a Norwegian colony in Brooklyn during the 1940’s and 50’s. Exploring Faith Traditions Wednesdays, October 5 – November 9 from 7-8:30PM In-Person & Zoom First learn about three faith traditions: Baha’i, Reconstructionist Jewish (Beth-el Zedeck), and Syrian Orthodox Christian (St George in Fishers). Then visit their houses of worship to deepen the learning experience. Lifelong Learners (Davidson) Thursdays at 6:30PM | Starts August 25 | In-Person & Zoom A welcoming group of 50-60-70 year-olds looking to grow in our faith together and learn from each other through life experiences. Big Mind, Big Heart (Chaney & New Earth Community) Thursdays at 7PM | Ongoing | Zoom Discuss “Big Mind, Big Heart” by Dennis Genpo Merzel. Presents a pathway to readers’ innate wisdom, compassion and equanimity, openness of mind, and ability to shift perspectives.

Funeral Planning Classes (Proctor) September 21, October 19, or November 23 from 11AM-12PM In-Person Talking about death and funerals is difficult for many of us, but one of the most loving things any of us can do is to make our funeral plans and wishes known to those who remain after we are gone. By planning ahead, our loved ones will not be left with unanswered questions in the midst of dealing with their own grief and sorrow. Surviving the Holidays Class (Kirk and March) Sunday, November 13 from 1-3:30PM | In-Person The holiday season can be difficult after the loss of a loved one. Learn practical holiday survival techniques and discover that there is hope for the future during this class. Book is $5 payable when you register. SMALL GROUPS & SUPPORT GROUPS stlukesumc.com/group-finder This fall many of our Small Groups will either be based around sermon discussion OR will be reading “The Big Picture: Seeing God’s Dream for your Life” by Jevon and Nicole Caldwell Gross. This 5-week study will help you connect the dots of triumph and trauma in your life to discover God’s presence by studying the story of Joseph in Genesis. Join one of our many small groups by going to the group finder or scanning the QR code. H.U.G.S. Support Group Sundays from 1-2PM | In-Person Healing Under Grief Support (HUGS) offers comfort to those dealing with the loss of a spouse or partner. Fellowship

opportunities are also offered throughout the month. Come find support with others who know what you’re going through. Intentional Parenting Second Sundays of the Month at 3PM | Beginning September 11 In-Person Intentional parenting is a way to raise children to become healthy, independent young adults. It’s based on solid principles which, applied over time, actually result in less-stressed parents and happier, better-adjusted, and more successful kids. This class is for parents of children with special needs. Childcare is provided. Military Ministry Group First Monday from 7-8PM | Ongoing | In-Person St. Luke’s Military Ministry provides a welcoming community of active military members, veterans, and their families and is dedicated to facilitating spiritual, social, and responsive support and care. Chronic Pain Support Group Third Monday (except January) from 6:30-8PM | Ongoing In-Person & Zoom This group offers pain support, chronic illness support, and neuropathy support. There is a time for sharing, asking and answering questions, and gaining advice from others in the group. Cancer Support Group (Smith) Second Monday from 6-7:30PM | Ongoing| Zoom This is a group of caregivers and patients who give hope and support. Church and community members welcome. GriefShare Support Group Mondays, September 7-November 30 from 3:15-5PM | In-Person It may be difficult for you to feel optimistic about the future after the loss of a loved one. You may have found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt that you feel. It can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. This group meets weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Registration fee is $10.

Divorce Care Support Group Mondays, September 12-December 5 from 6:30-8PM | In-Person While divorce is always hard, many are facing additional obstacles that make this season of life all the more difficult. St. Luke’s wants you to know that you are not alone. DivorceCare is free. The only fee is your purchase of the workbook which is $20 and can be purchased at the first group (scholarships are available if needed). Prayer Shawl Ministry Group Tuesdays from 1-3PM | In-Person This group meets weekly to knit or crochet prayer shawls for those who need to be wrapped in prayer. We also create hats, scarves, and other items which are donated to community organizations. Please bring your yarn and knitting needles or crochet hook. Great Blue Heron Sisters (Powell) Wednesdays 12-1PM | Ongoing | In-Person We are a group of women of many ages who enjoy exploring our faith through book discussions, participating in community service together, and having fun outings. Men’s Grief Group (Shive) Thursdays from 1-2PM | Ongoing | In-Person This is a group to provide support to men who have lost their spouses. Whether your loss is recent or some time ago, we encourage you to come to one of our informal meetings. You will find hope, strength, and encouragement in the company of men who have been there. Women Leaders in Business and Faith (Frische) Second Thursdays from 6:30-8PM | Ongoing | In-Person Our faith-based group will meet to lift each other up and to inspire each other to grow personally and professionally Young Adults (Bicanic) Every Third Thursday from 7-9PM | In-Person Throughout the fall we will be hosting board game nights at Doughnuts and Dragons. This is an opportunity to connect with the community you have already made and make new friends. Stop by and learn a new game, play a game you already love, and make some new connections.

Longest Night Service Sunday, December 18 at 7PM | North Indy Campus Recognizing that while the Christmas season brings hope and joy, it can also be a difficult time for those who have lost a loved one or

are experiencing grief. Our Longest Night service provides a space to acknowledge the challenges of the season while joining as a community in worship, prayer, and reflection. CONTEMPLATIVE stlukesumc.com/events NEW! Contemplative Mondays Start your week off with an opportunity to reconnect with God. Stay grounded for action and service. Taize Contemplative Services (Quince, Tiebert, & Brandt) 3rd Mondays from 5:30-6PM | Beginning August 15 | In-Person & Zoom Taize worship is based on the tradition developed in Taize,

France after WWII when a group of men came together to pray for peace. A Taize service invites you into a time of contemplation using simple chanting, prayers, scripture, and 10 minutes of silence. Mindful Community (Tiebert) Mondays from 4-4:45PM | Zoom No matter what you call it or what form your prayer/meditation practice takes, sitting in silence is transformative. Expect a prayer, poem or writing for reflection, and 20 minutes of silence. Spiritual Companionship Group (Tiebert) 2nd Mondays, October 10-March 13 from 6:30-8PM In-Person & Zoom Practice Holy Listening with other spiritual seekers in this group setting. Experience the forming and transforming presence of the One who is always within and with us. This group is limited to six members. Yoga Classes Mondays from 5-6:30PM or 6:30-7:30PM | Tuesdays from 6-7:15PM | In-Person Consider adding yoga to your spiritual practice. These classes are open to beginners and to those who already maintain a yoga practice. Bring a mat or a blanket. Cost for classes varies. Open Labyrinth Walk Monday, August 29 from 7-8PM | North Indy Campus - Labyrinth in the Back Lot Enjoy an opportunity for moments of contemplation and prayer. There will be a host present to explain labyrinth walking to those new to this spiritual practice. Guided Labyrinth Walk Monday, October 31 from 7-8PM | In-Person Take time to center and respond to a guided labyrinth walk. General information about labyrinth walking will be provided to those new to this spiritual practice. Expect to spend about 30 minutes.

IFD Showcase Saturday, September 10 from 10AM to 2PM (10-11AM Quiet Hour) In-Person This event will feature the Indianapolis Fire Department along with up-close experiences with the vehicles, special stations to educate you on the services they provide, as well as rescue protection and medical emergency demonstrations. We’ll also have fun activities, games, food, face painting, a bookmobile, picture station, safety stations, and more! I Love My City Saturday, September 17 Projects take place around Indianapolis Join us as we gather hundreds of servants and send them out into Indianapolis (and beyond) to serve and give back together. This allchurch effort has a place for YOU to get involved, no matter your age or ability. You won’t want to miss this energetic and impactful event, because one day can make a world of difference! Spiritual Practices in Community (Bolander) Monday, December 12 from 6:30-8:30 PM | In-Person This group will guide you through new experiences to awaken your soul to the presence of God and transform the way you engage with the spirit of God. Holiday Bazaar Saturday, November 12 from 9AM-3PM | In-Person You will find over 120 of the finest juried Midwest artists with handcrafted goods. Try our famous cinnamon rolls. Purchase baked goods for the holidays and don’t forget to stop to eat lunch.

Native American Awareness Event Saturday, November 19 from 11:30AM-1PM | In-Person Celebrate Native American Awareness month with a Native American storyteller and participate in a discussion about native boarding schools and women and girls being taken from the reservations. A luncheon will also be served for a time of fellowship. Sponsored by the Native American Ministries of the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. Jen Hatmaker Book Tour Stay tuned for the date Jen Hatmaker is a NY Times bestselling author of books on women’s issues, parenting, and adoption. She also hosts HGTV’s “Your Big Family Renovation.” Thanksgiving Dinner November 17-24 Thanksgiving is a time to share God’s abundance with others. Together we’ll serve or deliver over 1,000 meals to those in need this Thanksgiving season. New Year’s Eve Labyrinth Walk Saturday, December 31 from 5-7PM | In-Person Usher in the new year with a time of remembering 2022 and looking forward to 2023. This is a casual 30-minute session for those new to St. Luke’s. Here you will discover helpful information about St. Luke’s and leave with recommended next steps to help you find your place within the church. It’s also a great way to meet others who are new to the church and find community. Childcare is available. Steps Wednesdays, August 24-September 28 at 3:30PM | In-Person Wednesday, August 31-October 5 at 6:30 | In-Person Thursdays, August 25-September 26 at 6:30PM | Zoom Steps is a 6-week small group experience that will help you learn about your personal faith journey, better understand some of the core beliefs of Christianity and see how those are expressed at St. Luke’s, and discover your place in the St. Luke’s community. Childcare available upon request for Wednesday night sessions. Exploring Membership Class August 21 or October 30 from 12:15-2:45PM | In-Person Discover who we are, what we believe, and how we live out our mission in an affirming community of Christians. You’ll get to hear the story of St. Luke’s and discuss what it means to be a member of this local congregation through serving, growing in your faith, moving toward generosity, and more. Lunch is served, and childcare is available.

YOUTH MINISTRIES stlukesumc.com/students 5th-8th Grade meets Sundays at 9:30 & 11AM 9th-12th Grade meets in small groups various times throughout the week St. Luke’s Student Ministry is largely based around small groups (These start the week of August 14.) Guided by trusted adult leaders, middle and high school students are able to discuss what faith means to them and their lives in a safe, inclusive environment with others their own age. OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES stlukesumc.com/outreach Kenya Mission Trip, February 2023 In early 2023, we will travel with our partner Umoja on a cross-cultural trip to Kenya to visit this school and learn about the impact Umoja is having in that region. We will also take a few days to enjoy God’s handiwork with a safari in the majestic Masaii Mara. Spots are limited, so sign up early! Interest meetings are on August 24 and August 28. Contact Shelly.Clasen@stlukesumc.com for more information. Hub for Hope Hub for Hope connects with Washington Township families in need to nourish hope and well-being for family life. Our first focus is providing diapers as a way to support maternal and child health. We are preparing for weekly onsite diaper distributions later this fall and are looking for new team members to serve in these roles. Contact lisarockacy@gmail.com for more information. Luke’s Leaders Wednesday Evenings Luke’s Leaders are middle school students from Washington Township who participate in practical and relevant leadership skill development each semester. St. Luke’s mentors partner with the YMCA and ProAct Indy to meet weekly with students to inspire them with knowledge of their own possibilities and shape them into tomorrow’s leaders today. Family Promise St. Luke’s partners with other faith communities in the Family Promise network to provide housing for families who are experiencing homelessness. Fletcher Place Fletcher Place Community Center is a long-time partner of St. Luke’s that is breaking the cycle of generational poverty in the near south side of Indianapolis by addressing food insecurity, early childhood education, and other wholistic services. Crooked Creek Food Pantry Crooked Creek Food Pantry (CCFP) seeks to serve and invest in the Crooked Creek community service area by operating a client choice food pantry, providing nutritional education, and building relationships to support family needs.
