COME, LET US ADORE!
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK: On this second Sunday of Lent, God wants to reveal himself to us as He did to Abraham to continue guiding us through a way of salvation. Unlike last Sunday’s reading of Genesis where we heard of the disobedience of Adam and Eve, today’s first reading from the same book shows Abraham’s obedience to God’s words: “Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you”. These words are an invitation to start and keep walking in a journey; faith is a journey based on the intervention of God before our experience about life in its many forms it develops, for example, in your marriage, in your relationship with your children or your parents, in your father’s sickness, in the loss of your job, in the words of encouragement a friend addresses to you, in your failures and achievements, and above all in your sins. When God met Abraham his life was meaningless because Abraham in his old age did not have a son with Sarah, Abraham’s wife who was sterile, and a land. We like Abraham have no meaning of life because of our sins. Nevertheless, God has met us; we have had an encounter with Him in our failures-sins, and this is what makes such encounter authentic and sincere. Divine power over death and sin has met with our human frailty and weakness in the Transfiguration of Christ as we hear in today’s Gospel. Behind the human flesh of Christ lies the power of the resurrection. Behind any suffering we may experience today, the glory of God’s love is present to give us hope and courage to keep walking in our journey of faith. As along as we keep walking with God in Christ and his Church we are being transformed into the image and likeness of God’s only begotten Son. Our transfiguration is expressed in our firm desire to ask God for a sincere conversion that comes through listening to his words: “Come with me, I will give a son and a land, I will give you happiness and meaning of life, I will give you my son Jesus Christ”. Abraham had to leave his relatives and material securities behind, what are we to leave behind and follow God’s plan? I hope we truly reflect on this. God bless you and have a blessed Sunday! Fr. Arturo Chagala 214-3

Fr. Arturo Chagala 214-5
