From the Desk of the Parochial Administrator Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We hear in today's Gospel, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things (food, clothes or any need) will be given you besides." As Christ's disciples and members of his body, we are reminded of our Christian vocation in the world, our city, our house, our parish and our family. We are called to search for the kingdom of God (a kingdom of peace, forgiveness, mercy, love to the enemy, gratitude and thanksgiving) which must be the personal priority to find true happiness according to God's plan. The righteousness of the Kingdom of God provides for us what we had lost since the origins of creation because of Adam's and Eve's fall: Communion in love with God and our neighbors. Only in this type of communion does man find meaning in his life. Sin takes away the meaning of our life in God's plan and this situation forces us to search for happiness--not anymore in God's plan--but in any source of human or material goods. The greed for money is not just a concrete reality to find "happiness" but it is also a symbol or representation of other realities man searches for to possess meaning in life, such as the feeling of power, control, security, etc. This situation stops man from searching out the Kingdom of God and his righteousness. That is why Christ tell us that "no one can serve two masters." Whom do you serve? Don't give a quick answer. Let us pray to God to give us sincerity of heart. Fr. Arturo Chagala February 26, 2017
