Great Mission during the Easter Season. Pope Francis tells us: “All of us are called to offer others an explicit witness to the saving love of the Lord...Our falling short of perfection should be no excuse; on the contrary., mission is a constant stimulus not to remain mired in mediocrity but to continue growing .”( Joy of the Gospel 121)

Third Sunday of Easter

Scripture Reflection Throughout the Easter season, all the bible stories we hear are from the New Testament - the life of Jesus Christ. Although the stories are over 2000 years old, they are pertinent today. In the first Reading, Peter points out that they (the Jewish people) denied Jesus and thus are responsible for his suffering and death. Although many of them followed the Messiah and loved what he did and said, in the end and in front of the Roman leader, they spoke out against him. Peter states that if they repent, they will be forgiven. This is the conversion they need to once again become followers of Jesus Christ. John proclaims in the second reading that if one hears the Word of God and keeps the commandments, God’s love will be perfected in them. In Luke’s Gospel, Jesus talks of repentance and forgiveness and being witnesses to the truth. Jesus greeted his disciples with the words “Peace be with you.” No matter what they did or did not do to protect him, Jesus offered them peace. What exactly is this peace? In his 2002 World Day of Peace message, Saint John Paul II, stated “No peace without justice, no justice without forgiveness.” Forgiveness, justice and peace are interconnected. Jesus forgives us when we ask and offers us the love to forgive others. We can not be authentic disciples of Jesus Christ without understanding how these actions affect our lives. So we ask ourselves: • Do we easily forgive or do we harbor resentment and animosity? • Do we seek justice and do we understand how some of our actions may be unjust? • Is having the peace and love of Jesus Christ in our hearts important to us? Do we allow our faith to nurture this peace? While manifestaron contra él. Pedro dice que si ellos se arrepienten, serán they were resting, Jesus walked up and said. perdonados. Esta es la conversión que necesitan volver a ser segui“Peace be with you”. They were scared and thought that Jesus was a ghost but he ate with dores de Jesucristo. them to show that he was alive again! 214-3
