It has been a big year for surfing with some great events taking place and some impressive results being achieved. There is a great depth of talent at the school at the moment with many surfers currently achieving great results in board riders clubs, state trials and national competitions. The surfing season started in March with the annual school surfing competition, which was a great success. The boys competed at a very high standard and enjoyed great conditions, their behaviour was excellent and they should be proud. Congratulations to Casey McCrohan who won the senior division, Dylan Hart who won the junior division and Lewis Oates who won wave of the day. Thanks to Michael Timms, Michael Davies, John Wilcox and Cameron Lampered who helped organise, plan and run the competition. It was great to see so many parents supporting the boys, it created a wonderful atmosphere. On Friday 9 May the top surfers from the school competition, Dylan Hart, Joshua Cammarere, Jake Milliken, Nathan Rivalland, Harrison Mahoney, Lewis Oates, Casey McCrohan, Cameron Drake, Daniel Ball and James Buckley travelled to Phillip Island to take part in the Victorian Schools Surfing Championships. All of the boys surfed incredibly well, the talent on display was amazing. Lewis, Casey and Harry progressed through their initial heats into the 2nd round and should be incredibly proud. Lewis was unlucky not to make the semi-finals, he finished third in his heat by 1 point. Jake Milliken was the biggest surprise of the trip making his way into the semi-finals with an array of big, back hand, slashes, he was really stoked to make it that far into the competition. Last but definitely not least, was Josh Cammarere who won his final by half a point in an incredibly tight battle and is now the U/16 Victorian Schoolboy Champion. With so many talented students it is safe to say that we can expect some great results in the next few years.Well done.
