Michigan Youth Arts is a leader in arts education advocacy in Michigan. We work to highlight best practices in arts education, serve as a resource for professional development, and recognize excellent arts educators in Michigan with our annual Educator of the Year Awards.

The Michigan Youth Arts Festival is a comprehensive arts spectacular.

It culminates a nine-month search for the finest artistic talent in Michigan high schools. More than 250,000 students across the state are involved in the adjudication process that results in nearly 1,000 being invited to participate in the annual, three-day event each May in Kalamazoo.

The Michigan

Youth Arts Leadership Roundtable convenes

around advocacy initiatives relevant to the arts education community as a whole, further enhancing the dialogue between statewide organizations and various disciplines, and brings together top leaders in the arts to greater advocate for best practices within their organizations and throughout Michigan. Its members include sixteen statewide arts education organizations in consultation with the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, and the Michigan Department of Education.

We support a sustainable, comprehensive, equitable, standards-based arts curriculum for all Michigan youth. Our annual Policy Forum addresses issues in arts education throughout the state. Bringing together representatives from statewide arts education associations and government agencies, the strength of our combined efforts is key to giving us a louder voice throughout Michigan and beginning a dialogue that will shape arts education policy for years to come.
