MISC MATERIALS

I TRODUCTION We had a lot of fun creating these projects and we know you will, too. Many of these projects make good fundraisers for your school or organization, and are easily adaptable to reflect your school colors and mascot. Please read through entire instructions before starting a project. When gluing components together, be sure to LET GLUE COOL COMPLETELY before proceeding to the next step. Now get in the spirit and start crafting!

NEEDED:

Hot Glue Gun (preferably low-temp) Wire Cutters Needle-nose Pliers Scissors Awl or Ice Pick Glue Pen or Craft Glue Craft wire Emery board, nail file or fine sand paper (for best results sand rough plastic edges of trinkets, if any - also cut loops off of trinkets if not using and sand with emery board)

HOW TO MAKE BOWS: -

Twist base of loops and hold between thumb and index finger, keeping shiny side out.

After making desired number of loops, secure center of bow with wire.

Twist tightly around center and adust loops as desired.

HOW TO MAKE POINTS: Back of Ribbon

Using a 4" piece of ribbon, hold between thumb and forefinger.

Trim excess ribbon.

Holding with one hand, glue seam at back.

Bring thumbs together bending ribbon to make a cone.

Arrange points around outer edge of disc, space evenly, then glue.

Glue another row of points just inside of 1st row.

For a 5.5" mum, or large,r use a 6" paper disc and #9 ribbon to make points. It will take 8 points to make each row.

SPIRIT PINS These spirit pins make a great fund raising project! They are fun and simple to make. With the same basic instructions you can make these, or create your own designs. You can customize your pins, using imprint ribbon with your school name and mascot or use lettering to personalize. All you do is pick a trinket, glue ribbons to back, glue jump rings to back edge to hang bells and small trinkets. Then glue on bows and add lettering. Glue bar pin to back to use as pin, or maybe a magnet to use on your locker for a note holder.

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1

STEP 2 To make streamers, cut the #5 and #9 acetate ribbon into 1 yard lengths. Glue to paper disc back in layers, alternating sizes and colors, and slightly overlapping. .....-

Cut the garlands and remaining decorative ribbons into 1 yard lengths. The decorative ribbons should be an assortment of #1.5, curling ribbons (to tie trinkets on), printed ribbons and ribbons for stick on lettering. The garlands and decorative ribbons are layered over the base streamers, already in place. Cut a 6" piece of #9 acetate ribbon, . fold over and staple, to make a loop for hanging. Glue and staple to top of disc, as shown .

Stem Holder

Remove stem and calyx from mum. Add glue to back of mum to secure petals to stem holder.

Apply glue to back of mum

Glue mum to decorative

backing.

STEP 3 Glue decorative back with mum to paper disc with streamers.

Decorate your mum with trinkets as shown.

Use lettering on ribbons to personalize.

INSTRUCTIONS: Wrap dowel with #16 ribbon. Make a hole in the top of panther, insert dowel and glue. Glue end of tinsel cord to one end of dowel, wind around dowel and glue to other end. Unwrap mini cheer pom from stick, fan out tinsel and glue to top of helmet. Add footballs, touchdown charm and bits of football player garland to helmet. Add name and football number to helmet. Glue STYROFOAM速 up inside helmet and then add glue to top end of dowel and insert into STYROFOAM速. Cut curling ribbon to 18" lengths and glue ends to STYROFOAM速. Tie 3/4" jingle bells and cowbells to ribbons so that they hang 2"-3" from bottom of helmet. Curl ends of ribbons. Glue 1/2" jingle bells around bottom of dowel.

INSTRUCTIONS: Cover dowel with tinsel cord by attaching at one end and winding around dowel. The easiest way is to hot glue the ends of both colors to one end of the dowel at an angle, apply double-sided tape to the length of the dowel and wrap with both colors at the same time, then hot gluing the other end. Cut loop from football, sand and glue to bottom end of dowel. Cut 2 circles out of #40 ribbon, to cover paper disc. Glue one to each side of disc. Cut sticks off of mini cheer poms and arrange poms around disc as shown. Be sure your dowel will fit in the center, then glue poms to disc. Tie cowbells to 6" lengths of tinsel cord and glue ends of tinsel cord to disc, in between poms. Add glitter poms and paw stickers to cowbells. With disc sitting on flat surface, glue end of dowel to center of disc with hot glue. HOLD UNTIL COMPLETELY COOL. Add bear to top of disc.

LOCKER TAGS This is a good fund raising idea for any group. Just pick your favorite trinket and glue bits of garlands and ribbons to the back. Decorate as desired and add a magnet to the back or if you prefer you can add a bar pin and wear as a pin. BAD TO THE BONE #18 DRILL TEAM #17

BOW TEMPLATE

EASY TO MAKE FUN TO DO

Trace bow template and cut out of thin cardboard. Add numbers to your template.

BOW MAKER MAKES BOWS FOR MUMS, PACKAGES, ETC.

Yardage needed for bows: #3 - requires 4 1/2 yards #5 - requires 5 1/2 yards #9 - requires 7 1/2 yards Use pattern to make three different size templates one for each size of ribbon, be sure to put numbers near hole in center. INSTRUCTIONS

INSTRUCTIONS,cont.

Holding template and ribbon together with thumb and forefinger, place ribbon over hole and bring around behind point #1, across to point #2, then to point #3, etc. until you get back to point #1. This is one rotation. Repeat five rotations, keeping ribbon centered over the hole .

After completing rotations, staple bow in center, turn over and staple again.

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS: Use the #5 template and instructions on page 9 to make a bow with 5 1/2 yards of #5 acetate ribbon. Cut 4 or more 8"-12" lengths of #5 acetate ribbon and glue to 3" paper disc. If adding curling ribbon, cut to 18". If using garland, glue it in front of ribbons. Make ribbon loop with a 4" piece of #5 ribbon, fold and staple ends, then glue and staple to top of disc. Glue bow to front of paper disc with ribbons. You can decorate it as desired.

These pens are also reusable - just grasp plastic cover on pointed end with scissors or wire cutters and pull pen assembly out. Buy another pen, remove the assembly and put in your decorated pen.

To cover with ribbon: Lay pen on ribbon as shown and use hot glue, craft glue or double-sided tape to adhere to pen. If winding another ribbon around pen, glue one end of ribbon at angle, wind around pen and glue other end.

Using about a yard of the 3/16" silver Metallic Embossed ribbon, glue end of ribbon to end of covered dowel at an angle, wind around dowel and glue other end. Using a razor knife, make a hole in megaphone for dowel. Apply glue to one end of dowel and insert into STYROFOAM® base at center of metallic backer-HOLD UNTIL COMPLETELY COOL. Glue mums around base of dowel. Add helmets and footballs to base. Add megaphone to top of dowel, gluing from the inside of megaphone - HOLD UNTIL COMPLETELY COOL. Cut two 1 yard lengths of 3/16" silver Metallic Embossed ribbon and tie to top of dowel to make four 18" streamers. Tie Paw Power and Bad to the Bone charms on to hang about 2"-3" under megaphone. Make collar with poster board strip.

Glue collar to top of bear's head and glue square to top of collar, add tassel.

INSTRUCTIONS: Cut a 4 3/4" square and a 1x9 1/2" strip from royal poster board. Make a collar with the strip and glue to top of bear's head. Glue square to top of collar. Add tassel to top center of square. Glue bear in sitting position to one of the STYROFOAM® ball halves. Make three 3 yard bows (see how to on page 1) with Graduate ribbon. Attach one to STYROFOAM® in front of bear and the other two behind bear. Add lettering to Grad Cap charm and glue to front of bear. Add horseshoe to front of bow. Insert Star Glitter Sprays behind bear and arrange. Use a small piece of white paper to make a diploma, tie with curling ribbon and glue to bear's hand. Attach balloons to bear's hand with curling ribbon.

Make brim from blue poster board.

Set STYROFOAM® down inside cylinder and glue.

Glue cardboard ring to bottom of brim.

To make hat - cut a 12" circle from blue poster board, then cut an 8" circle in the center of the 12" circle - this will be the brim. Cut six 2"x12" strips, from the red poster board, Fit brim over cylinder, and a 12"x27" piece from the white. To make crown, roll white piece to make a 12" tall apply glue to cardboard cylinder and place inside hole in brim. After making sure of a snug fit, staple edges of white board and set on bottom of brim. together where they overlap. Glue red strips to sides of cylinder. Decide which end of cylinder you want to use for top and set on flat surface, upside down. You'll need to trim edges of STYROFOAM® disc slightly and then set down inside of cylinder, so that it's flush with top of cylinder, then glue around edges inside. LET COOL COMPLETELY. Cut cardboard ring the same shape as the brim, but slightly smaller, and glue to bottom of brim. Keeping cylinder upside down, fit brim over bottom of cylinder (keep brim upside down also). Trim 12" cardboard circle slightly and apply glue to one side and set down on bottom of cylinder and glue to bottom of brim. COOL COMPLETELY and turn right side up. Glue Spangled Star ribbon around bottom. Make a small hole in center of 8" blue circle and glue to top of STYROFOAM@? disc. Tie curling ribbon to balloons, leaving several streamers. Arrange balloons as desired, tie or wire balloons together at desired length and use stiff wire to anchor balloons in center of blue circle. Add lettering and stars to balloons. Make two 3 yard bows (see how to on page 1) with USA ribbon. Cut star garland into 12" lengths, run through center of bows and twist to secure. Curl star garland with pencil. Curl hanging streamers.

INSTRUCTIONS: Arrange mums, as shown, on heart lace back and then glue securely. Make a heart shape with chenille stem and center over three purple mums and glue to petals. Glue horses on top of heart and star, below heart. Cut all #5 and #9 ribbons to 36" lengths. Cut curling ribbon to 48" lengths. Start gluing ribbons to heart paper disc, saving printed ribbons for the front. Add Friendship Garland to front also. You need to leave a couple of plain ribbons on front, to do custom lettering with stickers. You can curl curling ribbon, before gluing to mum, if desired. After all ribbons are added, cut a 6" piece of #9 acetate, fold and staple to top of plain disc to use as a hanging loop. Position decorated lace back over plain heart paper disc with ribbons and glue the two discs together. LET COOL COMPLETELY. Trinkets can either be tied or glued on.

Arrange mums as shown and then securely glue to heart lace back.

Make heart by folding chenille stem in half and then curve ends around and twist together and snip off excess.

Add horses and star.
