AALBORG WATERFRONT AALBORG, DENMARK

> KEY INFORMATION • CF Moller Architects • Waterfront development as part of the wider regeneration of the port city • Public promenade stretched for 1km along the waterfront • Overall ambition to give the port back to the city • Link the central urban district with the fjord • Flood mitigation consideration with higher level seating area • Shallow cuts were made into the plinth to create lower-level areas that are more sheltered from the wind, with stepped areas around the sides that double as seating • Seats were added along the plinth and promenade in different directions to catch sunlight or offer the best views

ZHANGJIAGANG RIVER JIANGSU, CHINA

> KEY INFORMATION • Botao Landscape • Overall length of 2,200 m • Development’s target is to reduce the pollution and water import, recover the natural ecology of the river; create a new open space, provide a more pleasant environment and improve infrastructure functions of the entire region

WATER WORKS PARK MINNEAPOLIS, USA

> KEY INFORMATION • SCAPE was commissioned to reestablish a connection to a historic section of the Mississippi river by a new waterfront park adjacent to st. Anthony falls • The four acre site will feature heritage ruins, wide stretches of local vegetation, bike/pedestrian pathways, a pavilion structure, and a series of flexible landscape ‘rooms’. • The contemporary water landscape infrastructure includes a wet-dry scrim foundation and a year-round weep-wall fed by storm water • The development will improve the public access to the riverfront site, exposing its history, and enhancing its ecology > RELEVANCE • Located at level difference in river and river crossings • Multiple level changes between urban grid and river • ‘Water Works’ park development is sited next to a waterfall on the Mississippi river
