10 Helpful Mac Tips and Tricks Apple's products attach importance to be friendly to users. So they always don't provide instructions for use. But there are many Mac tips which can be easily ignored in Mac OS X. Here, I will bring you 13 helpful tips for Mac OS X. Hope these Mac tricks can help you use Mac better. NOTE: Some of the Mac tips below need Mac Terminal app which can be found in "Finder - Apps - Practical Tools".

Mac Tips 1: The "biu ~ biu ~ biu ~" sound when you adjust the volume is annoying. Sometimes the noise will disturb others. So are there any ways to eliminate the noise? YES! You just need to press Shift button when adjusting the volume.

Mac Tips 2: If you often use Mac's Dock and Stacks, maybe you hope to see a newer and cleaner scroll list of Stacks. The tip: Run Terminal, then type the command: defaults write com.apple.dock use-new-list-stack -book YES. Now the new Stacks list will be activated. Then type the following command: killall Dock. This command restarts Finder process, then the new Stacks scroll list will be displayed.

Mac Tips 3: Improve the operation to modify the window size in Lion. The tip: Drag the window size, and at the same time hold down the Shift key to keep window aspect ratio; Then hold down Option to fix the center, so as to change the window stretching from the four vertices.

Mac Tips 4: Can we use Preview app to create new folders faster? YES! The tip: If you have already copied the picture into system's system clipboard, open Preview, then use the short key: Command+N to create new folder.

Mac Tips 5: For some reason, Lion system hidden the Library. How to make it appear again? The tip: Run Terminal, type the command: chflags nohidder ~/Library.

Mac Tips 6: Mission Control looks good, but we can make it be more personalized. The tip is, open Finder, enter /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources, find

Mac Tips 7: Although Apple fans almost don't use Front Row app, sometimes you may open it after inadvertently touching shortcuts. So how to close it? The tip: Open System Preferences - Keyboard - Keyboard Shortcuts, uncheck Front Row(Hide and show Front Row).

Mac Tips 9: When you clear trash, you haven't deleted anything, in fact. In principle you just tell your machine the disk space which have been occupied is clean and available for use. This means that others can recover the data to see your private things which you don't wanna others to see. To avoid this, you can delete hard disk data thoroughly. The tip is, in Finder menu, choose "Secure Empty Trash".

Mac Tips 10: If you have an old Mac and need to save system resources as possible, you can try to close some window flash, such as the famous genie in a bottle. The tip: Run Terminal and type the command: defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAutomaticWindowAnimationsEnabled -bool NO. Then open dialogue box according to Command+Option+esc, restart Finder.
