Kylee Gerleve ‘17 creates promposal to die for

hen you think about someone asking you to prom, zombies, guns, and a life-or-death mission might not initially come to mind. Kylee Gerleve ‘17 conducted an elaborate plan to ask her boyfriend, Mike Scott, a senior at Peak to Peak High School, to this year’s gator prom. “Mike said that if my promposal was lame he would say no.” Gerleve said. “So I was like, oh I gotta do a really good one right?” She based her promposal around the popular video game, Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Gerleve compiled a group of zombies, handed Scott a loaded Nerf gun, and sent him off to complete Mission 0422. “[Mike’s] sister Jen, handed him this envelope with three little Black Ops bars in the front and it was like… ‘Congratulations Soldier YoYo F16’, because that’s his Black Ops name, ‘you have been selected for Mission 0422’ which is the day of our prom,” Gerleve said. “It said that Zombies were taking over the Earth and he had to shoot the zombies, get the clues, and then go to each spot.” After weeks of planning, Gerleve’s vision was finally put into action. She transformed Scott’s family and neighbors into cannibalistic, stumbling zombies, assembled a “rare supply drop” that was delivered to help Scott with his endeavor, and waited patiently for her hero to turn the zombies back into their human state.

How to manage your time getting ready, even with the half day

“The first spot was with his dad, who was a zombie, in the gym and the clue that he got there led him to the park with his mom and his dog,” Gerleve said. “There he got a ‘rare supply drop’ where he got a nerf gun, bullets, and a question mark envelope. In each of these envelopes, there were letters that spelled P - R - O M. Eventually, he got the 4th clue that led him downstairs where I was with my poster and he had to log in all of the letters to turn everyone back into humans.” Scott had completed his mission, defeated the zombies, and was impressed with the elaborate promposal. “It was chill,” Scott said. “She made it so thorough and she planned it out so well. I had no idea what to expect, so I just got handed a [Nerf] gun and went with it. It made my promposal look weak and lazy.” Gerleve thought outside of the box, defied stereotypes, and it all turned out for the best. Once all the letters were locked in, not only was the world safe from impending doom, but Gerleve had found herself a prom date. | Hannah Jensen | Patty Sokol

1.

Don’t stand too close. The concern isn’t really leaving room for Jesus, but avoiding stepping on your date’s toes! If you’re going to take the path of least resistance and just sway in place try making sure you’re feet are alternating so as to avoid any high-heel related injuries.

2. Hand placement is key. The way you dance should be adjusted based on your relationship with your dance partner; if this is a first date, placing both hands on their waist might feel awkward. Try clasping their right hand in your left and place the other on their waste for a more open position.

3. Remember to breathe. Slow dancing WILL be terrible if you are terrified. You are supposed to like the person you’re dancing with—even if you are just there as friends. A little intimacy won’t kill you—it can be really nice to experience that connection!

4. Lighten Up. It can be very destructive to build prom, your date, and the first fateful slow

dance up too much. It doesn’t have to be completely serious—make conversation, be silly, maybe even tell a joke and it will be so much less awkward.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

STAY COZY IN BED

You don’t have to go far from home to get some fresh air. The crisp air of a spring morning is rejuvenating, and will nurse away your grogginess.

Imagine the absolute heaven of waking up naturally, not even getting out of bed, and beginning a healthy streak of TV or movies on Netflix. Even better, if you allow yourself to take your time like this, it’s guilt-free!
