PRELUDE | March of the Three Kings Denis Bédard, arranger | Dr. Jonathan M. Gregoire, organist *CALL TO WORSHIP Arise! Shine! God’s light has come to reveal The Way in this New Year. Arise! Shine! The glory of the Lord has risen upon us.
Arise! Shine! God’s light penetrates the darkness that covers the world.
Arise! Shine! Nations shall come to God’s light and kings to the brightness of God’s dawn. Arise! Shine! For the Glory of the Lord has risen upon us. *OPENING HYMN | Go Tell It On the Mountain 251 | Go Tell It On The Mountain (Refrain) Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere; go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born. 1 While shepherds kept their watching o’er silent flocks by night, behold throughout the heavens there shone a holy light. (Refrain) 2 The shepherds feared and trembled, when lo! above the earth, rang out the angel chorus that hailed the Savior’s birth. (Refrain) 3 Down in a lowly manger the humble Christ was born, and God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn. (Refrain) *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day *Please rise in body or spirit. 2

In this instance, catholic means universal.
he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy +catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND PARDON Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another. Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another. Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. All pray in silence. Hear the good news: Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God’s love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! Glory to God. Amen. WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

*CLOSING HYMN | All Hail the Power of Jesus Name 154 | Coronation, Verses 1, 2, and 6 1 All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall; bring forth the royal diadem, and crown him Lord of all. Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown him Lord of all. 2 Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race, ye ransomed from the fall, hail him who saves you by his grace, and crown him Lord of all. Hail him who saves you by his grace, and crown him Lord of all. 6 O that with yonder sacred throng we at his feet may fall! We’ll join the everlasting song, and crown him Lord of all.
