DECEMBER 2023
MAGAZINE
Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

TALKING WITH TJ
As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew… got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff.
Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings together people from all walks of life. One thing is for sure though, the STANG Mag crew isn’t your typical crew. We are a bunch of weirdos, oddballs, and outcasts. We party hard and live by our ride or die motto and have adventures like no other.
From partying in various spots all over the U.S., to touring some of America’s most haunted sites, to having my ass spanked by a beautiful Latina in Las Vegas in front of a restaurant packed full of guests (and owning it), it’s never a dull moment! All I can say is... strap in, rev the shit out of your motor, and let’s go!
FORT DELAWARE
Fort Delaware is one of my favorite adventures. Honestly as crazy as this sounds the best part of the trip is the boat trip to the fort.
They put you on a two-level boat, which the best part is on the second level. You can see all the open water of the Delaware River as the boat traverses the water and when you take the night tour, omg don’t even get me started. Seeing the night line against the Delaware River is a perfect scene of what heaven would look like.
Prior to us taking the journey to Fort Delaware across the river, we always stop at Crabby Dicks. This place is the go to restaurant for Delaware. I mean their house sauce is called Seaman Sauce. They have these amazing little crab balls and devil eggs with crab meat on top of it. It’s freaking amazing and prob the most delicious thing you will ever eat in Delaware. The alcohol buckets are perfect to devour right before heading over to the Haunted Fort Delaware.

The Fort itself, also named Pea Patch Island, is located in the Delaware River between Delaware and New Jersey. The Fort was completed around 1859, originally to protect the ports of Wilmington and Philadelphia.
This special island also became a Union prison camp during the Civil War. Fort Delaware is estimated to have housed over 12,595 Confederate prisoners of war.
Now you know with this much history, the island is said to have been haunted by the soldiers of the Civil War. Now, is it? I haven’t seen anything but the hope to see something is there, which is why I keep going back.
take the Night Tour for a chance to see the other side! Until I’m dead folks, I will see you soon… maybe at Fort Delaware as a ghost tourist!

THE CAR WAS AS PERFECT AS IT COULD BE...
I’m a Ford man through and through, if you were to cut me I’d bleed blue. I’ve been fascinated with Mustangs for as long as I can remember. My Dad bought me my first car when I was 14 years old. I’ll never forget the day he pulled up with that 66 Coupe on the trailer, it had been wrecked and was in pretty rough shape. Over the next year and a half we worked on it almost every day until it was ready for the road. I’ll cherish those memories for the rest of my life. Fast forward 33 years and I now own my 7th Mustang. I call her Becky, named after one of my sisters that’s no longer with us. Becky sure looks pretty but can be meaner than hell when provoked...
MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!
In my younger years I pretty much always had a Mustang then life happens, hobbies and priorities change. I had a bunch of good times and a successful career but something was still missing. After a 15 year hiatus of Mustang ownership, I decided it was time to get back to my roots and get me another car.
While sitting on the porch one evening searching all the “Mustang for sale” sites, Becky just happened to find me. The owner listed it 30 minutes prior to me seeing the ad. The car

was 5 miles away. It was my favorite color and was priced right. I immediately called the guy and scheduled to go check it out the next day. Something told me that night this is meant to be. The next day I caught a glimpse of the car when the guy’s garage door opened and I told myself right then, “yup, this is the one”.
I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.
I bought her from the original owner, it had 42k miles on it and was always garaged. The car was as perfect as it could be for a 15 year old car but needed some more work in my opinion. The car made plenty of power at high RPMs but lacked the low end torque of a conventional pushrod V8. This is my first modular engine. It’s a 3 valve which doesn’t seem to get a whole lot of respect in the Mustang community but after a few more modifications and 9 psi, it damn sure sounds good and has plenty of power for driving around town on the weekends having fun from light to light and attending the occasional cars and coffee event.
The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!

Ever since I was little I was fascinated by the a-typical sports cars. The European sports models were especially popular with us, which made the Mustang feel special and exotic. During those times, Ken Block was my idol, especially with his Fiesta during his Global Rallycross Championship years.
It was therefore no surprise that the choice for my first car was a Ford (Fiesta). I have stayed with the brand ever since, until I was able to buy my first Mustang three years ago and my dream finally came true. It became a second-hand 2.3L Ecoboost Fastback. Since then it has been my daily drive to work and back, allowing me the pleasure to drive for an average of two hours a day. Of course my Blue Shadow also goes on camping trips with the Scouts and on family vacations.
At the beginning of this year, there was again budget to further perfect the dream car. It first got a GT500 front bumper

WHAT MORE COULD ANY GUY ASK FOR...
This is my 2010 Mustang GT nicknamed Fuck It Edition. I found this by mere chance surching for a new ride for Malinda Meyers. Once I saw her I knew I had to take her home. She came with 120k on the odometer in December and by August she’s already got 134k.
Some of the mods include the wheels, 2013 headlight conversion, fog light halos, custom badges, 2013 interior leather conversion, strut tower brace, spiked lug nuts (because fuck it , and everything I own has them) and a whole lot of fuck it attitude!

Been known to go full send on occasion without an issue. She loves blasting through back and dirt roads all throughout the Pocono mountains. Long road trips down to Florida and most states this side of the Mississippi. By far this is my favorite car I have ever owned and by far the most fun to drive. She’s a beautiful lady with a see through top. What more could any guy ask for, so fuck it... let’s ride!

We are Oleh Klymov and Viktoriia Klymova and we live in Ukraine. This is our first and only car, a member of our family since November 2017. A Mustang model has been our favorite since our teenage years. It took almost 8 years of everyday research of the car that we can afford, and here she is our gently and loving Horsy! The car never failed us and gives amazing emotions each time we drive her. Maybe Horsy sounds too gentle, but be sure, she is a true street warrior, especially on the open highways!
She is almost all stock but was repainted to yellow and has new Clear Lense one piece chrome headlights and 17” MIM lite alloy wheels with 2” spacers on the rear.

I COULD TURN THIS INTO RAISING MONEY FOR FEMALE BREAST CANCER DONATIONS...
When I lost my wife after 52 wonderful years of marriage, it was a very bitter blow. I didn’t want to exist anymore, but a female friend of ours who was a police officer consoled me and said I should try an escapism to take my mind off the tragedy. For weeks I couldn’t think of anything. Now, I had always been a big fan of the weekly TV series “The Andy Griffith Show” and it was this that suddenly gave me the idea. So I sold my white Mustang, and traded it in for a black 2006 convertible Mustang and decided to replicate it into a Sheriff’s car for a laugh. I drew the design of what I wanted my car to look like. I had a local sign making company transform it into what I had drawn. When driving it out I noticed it attracted people wherever I parked to take a photo of it on their phones that everyone carries nowadays. So as to make it more authentic, I had a police uniform made and fitted all the emergency lights/P.A. system and a police siren (six different sounds). All this with the permission of the Police Services. I started being part of the Police Santa Claus parades with appearing to be me having captured the Grinch.
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. breaking the law. The scary photo they send to their friends first and entitled “Guess what happened to me today?” The recipients reply would undoubtedly say “What the hell did you do?“. Now you can make up a story and run with it! To take the initial photos we would ask for a donation to Breast Cancer. It worked very, very well and all had a lot of fun and laughter. This idea finally cleared my mind enough to get me back on track. Now though I have finally retired from it all.

I HOPE I AM MAKING MY STEPDAD PROUD...
I have loved Mustangs since I was young. My first being a rough around the edges 1979 Mustang Ghia. It was a rust bucket, but was something my stepdad taught me to tinker on. He believed women should know how to work on cars! His belief has always stuck in my head, bringing me closer to people of the same mentality. I am not a typical girl and was not a popular person growing up. I have found a group of men and women who accept me for everything I am. Black Mark Mafia, LLC is an amazing group of people. I hope I am making my stepdad proud as he watches me from heaven.
I saw this sleek and sexy red Mustang sitting at a car lot across the street from the job I worked at. I felt like it was calling my name. A few days went by and I decided to test drive

I HAVE HAD A PASSION FOR THE MUSTANG FROM AN EARLY AGE.
Growing up my dad had a 66 or 67 Mustang when I was just old enough to start walking (seen it in old home movies) and my mom had an 85 Mecury Capri with the 5.0 engine. I have had a passion for the Mustang from an early age. My first Mustang was a 1987 4 cylinder and since then I have had a 95 GT and a 2010 GT. My favorite body style is the S197.
In 2016 I traded off the 2010 GT that I bought a year earlier for Neli and started the road to customizing her a few years later. Prior to the mods that I have done now, the most that I had ever done on a car was oil changes and brakes. Neli is still N/A but down the road I hope to add a ProCharger to her as

My car is called Nikkie Lee. I named it that because it is in memory of my sister who passed away in 2015. I run a non-profit called the Nikkie Lee Foundation in her memory as well. I acquired the call two years after she passed away on her birthday. This Mustang has came a long way since.
I am keeping my sister’s dream alive with this car by building it. My wife Rachel, brother Adam Yohn, and my parents Deb and Art, and Brenda have all been very supportive of this build. I am not building this the way I want but a team effort. They also help me run the foundation in memory of my sister. I have enclosed some before and after pictures so you can see just how far this Mustang has come.

I LOVE THE LOOKS I GET WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR.
I have always wanted a Mustang. Starting at 16 when my dad promised me his 1994 Foxbody Mustang, which I never got. I never really had the money to afford a Mustang but in 2016 my husband and I couldn’t pass up this beauty!
It started out as my husband’s car for about a year and then he decided to get a different car and I could take over the Mustang. Talk about being the happiest person ever! Driving this car has given me so much self confidence, which I don’t have much of. I love the looks I get when driving this car.

At a young age my parents use to sell at car shows and I always looked forward to hearing the loud exhausts of the Mustangs passing by and knew that one day this will be my passion. So now on I’m on my third Mustang. I have never been happier. I have met some amazing people along the way from local clubs here on Long Island and was able to see my worldwide California Special club at Carlisle, where I was blessed to win there among so many amazing cars.
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!
The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!
In January 2014, I saw this car at the dealership and then fell in love with it immediately. From the beautiful Deep Impact Blue color, to the rare glass roof, I couldn’t help but to then start my mods. I had my engine bay airbrushed and SMKNPONY was born. I also added the Roush exhaust, Volant Cai, Saleen wheels, and a few other little things.

AND SO MY JOURNEY BEGINS ANEW.

When I was 11 years old, my father came home with a 1968 Highland Green GT Fastback that had thrown a rod and that he planned to restore. The moment he pushed that alluring machine into his garage, I was instantly hooked. I spent the rest of my childhood watching him disassemble the car, fix all of the rust off the frame and rebuild the engine. I dreamt of one day owning a Mustang of my own. When I got my first full time job, I picked up every extra shift I could and finally was able to purchase my first Mustang, a 2003 V6 in Redfire Clearcoat metallic.

I loved that car and started my own journey of modifying her and eventually going to car shows. I spent weekends going to local cruise-ins and car shows, meeting other Mustang owners from all over. In 2011, I discovered I was pregnant with twins. My joy at learning that I was pregnant was mixed with disappointment because I would no longer be able to keep my Mustang. I sold her for a minivan to ferry my twins around. My love for the Mustang and the New Edge body style never died and I vowed to own one again. I spent the next few years looking to fill that void. In 2022, while searching through Facebook Marketplace, I found her. She was staring at me through the pixels of my phone screen, screaming at me to buy her. Her glistening and vibrant blue body exuded style and the graceful curves of her body radiated speed. After contacting the owner and looking her over, I knew she was the one for me. And so my journey begins anew. This time, I can share it with my beautiful children.
Sonic was born on May 12, 2003 and is 1 of 2,250 Mach 1s produced in 2003 in Azure Blue. She has the stock Mach 460

sound sytem and interior upgrade package. I’ve replaced worn out seats and a damaged chin spoiler. She still has her original stock 4.6 liter 32 valve DOHC engine and her distinct shaker hood, which is one of the things I absolutely love about the Mach 1. It’s my hope to keep her as close to stock as possible. I’m hoping to build a family tradition with my children - one that will hopefully foster a deep love and admiration for this particular breed of vehicle. Our garage has been filled with warm memories of time spent tooling over Sonic. Endless hours of frustration and subsequent laughter have been devoted to restoring Sonic to her former glory. We’ve been to many local car shows and even have been to Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA. I hope that she brings a smile to your face, as she has to mine.

“JUST THE TIP
I GOT A WOODY!
In last month’s issue, we discussed some of the other ventures that Henry Ford was involved in, from aircraft to jeeps to support the war effort. We left that one with a little teaser, about Ford’s contribution to your backyard BBQs and we had some of our valued readers ask for a little more about this. So let’s continue with Kingsford Charcoal!
Henry Ford was having exceptional success with the Ford Model T, making one million cars a year by 1919. If you’ve ever seen a Ford Model T, you’ll notice that they used a lot of wood. Approximately 100 board feet per car – the wheel spokes, steering wheel, dashboard, and many other parts. So he needed a lot of wood. Rather than be at the mercy of outside suppliers, Ford contacted his cousin’s husband, Edward G. Kingsford, a Michigan real estate agent, to help him find and purchase woodland. He found

the perfect location in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Ford built a sawmill there to cut the wood for shipping to Detroit to manufacture the parts needed for his Model Ts.
As you can imagine, cutting and milling the wood for the cars left tons of left over waste in terms of stumps, branches and sawdust. Ford, a nature-lover, was also an early environmentalist and lived by the motto, “reduce, reuse, and recycle.” Ford found that he could use the scraps and sawdust, pressed into lumps held together by tar and cornstarch, as a quick and easy way to start cooking a fire. He named these lumps charcoal briquettes and built a
briquette manufacturing facility next door to the sawmill. He sold the briquettes in picnic packs and promoted the link between owning an automobile and experiencing the great outdoors.
While these briquettes were initially sold under the Ford brand, the division was purchased by a team of investors in 1951. The conglomerate renamed the briquettes Kingsford Charcoal in honor of Edward Kingsford. Today, Kingsford Charcoal is still made in America with more than one million tons of wood waste finding a new life as charcoal briquettes every year.
