MAGAZINE

Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

TALKING WITH TJ

As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew… got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff.

Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings together people from all walks of life. One thing is for sure though, the STANG Mag crew isn’t your typical crew. We are a bunch of weirdos, oddballs, and outcasts. We party hard and live by our ride or die motto and have adventures like no other.

From partying in various spots all over the U.S., to touring some of America’s most haunted sites, to having my ass spanked by a beautiful Latina in Las Vegas in front of a restaurant packed full of guests (and owning it), it’s never a dull moment! All I can say is... strap in, rev the shit out of your motor, and let’s go!

Well, you all know me and how much I love the paranormal. When the chance came to explore the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, you know I did not hesitate. In fact, I was the first one to have my bags packed. Hell yeah, I packed all overnight clothes, new shoes, new boxers (you never know what might happen, ghosts have been known to shit in your pants), and my car shined up.

The drive to there was a nightmare only because I did not sleep the night before and it is kind of a haul to get there, so as you can imagine during the trip up, I was fighting off the sleep. It was 28 degrees and here I was with both windows down, trying to get the cold air to wake me up. Luckily, we went to a gas station and a Mountain Dew later and BAM, I was ready to go! I tell you what, this was the best Mountain Dew I ever had, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t care too much for the Dew.

Built in 1858-1881 in West Virginia, based on Gothic Revival and Tudor Revival styles by a Baltimore architect Richard Andrews, this TRANS ALLEGHENY LUNATIC ASYLUM

place was beautiful. I honestly wish I lived there, my kind of style.

It was originally designed to hold 250 people but by the 1950s it became overcrowded and held more than 2,400 patients. Now with that many patients and the history of people with mental disabilities in America, it became a nightmare and sadly conditions became very bad. Ironically the hospital grew to have 666 acres… coincidence, I THINK NOT. The work of SATAN is strong here. God bless that feller.

If you get a chance to explore the Trans-Alleghany Lunatic Asylum, please do. We didn’t see any ghosts but the architecture of the building was simply breath taking. Until next time folks, Enjoy the ride and who you’re riding with, especially the “WHO” part just because... even if you don’t see them, it doesn’t mean they are not there.

As we walked through the Asylum, there was a feeling of sadness. I can only imagine what these poor patients’ experience was.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!

JOKE OF THE MONTH WHAT,S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CHURCH AND AN INSANE ASYLUM?

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I

BLANCA IS MY SECOND MUSTANG AND JUST A LITTLE UPGRADE FROM THE LAST.

I fell in love with the “Eleanor” when I saw Gone in 60 seconds and it’s been a dream chase since then. I finally got my hands on a 2016 Ecoboost last year that was totaled in an accident last Valentine’s Day. The goal was to get back into a pony and that I did!

Blanca is my second Mustang and just a little upgrade from the last. The safest I felt during my accident was in my seat and to get back into the driver’s seat was the highest of priorities to ensure I can return to my love of cars lifestyle!

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. THE CAR HAS BEEN A BLAST TO OWN...

My Mustang is a 2016 GT with the Performance Package. I purchased this car new from a local dealer, who was good to deal with (Fred Beans). There was a choice of models on the lot. I am glad I got the one with the Performance Package. The Pirelli tires were replaced and now I can take it out in the off season and not just ONLY NICE DAYS!

The car has been a blast to own, especially with a manual transmission because you really feel in control.

This is Deathstroke. It is an 09 Mustang GT in Grabber Orange with a glass top. To my knowledge, there was only 3,089 glass tops made that year. 2009 was the first year that Ford come out with the glass tops. Only 68 Mustang GTs that year were Grabber Orange.

My wife and I have been obsessed with Mustangs since we were kids. I mean they are the longest running production muscle car. There is no greater feeling than being on a curvy mountain road with windows down, listening to the exhaust. Mods include 18” Bullitt deep dish rims with Mickey Thompson street comps, 3” Tru Fiber cowl induction hood, and SVT turner side and rear window louvers.

THAT’S MY GIRL. THAT’S MY PRIZED POSSESSION.

My love for Mustangs sparked wild when I would visit my grandparents in Florida and we would venture to Old Town to spectate the car shows. It was then that I made the decision that I needed to have one in my life and soon I would be part of the car shows that I once spectated.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. Fast forward about 10 years later, I moved to Florida, and was on the hunt for my dream car. There she was a 2012 GT. Slick black body with the rear seat delete and red pinstripes on the hood and decals. It was love at first sight. The intoxicating rumble is a feeling like no other and after two years, I still gain the biggest smile on my face every day that I drive her. I’ve slowly began putting my own “spin” on Elvira, making upgrades to improve her appearance, experience and performance. From the new JBL speakers all throughout the car, two 12” JBLs subs in the back, to the Tesla style radio, American Muscle rims with the final additions of Oracle lighting, both interior and the under glow.

My most prized modifications would be the performance mods. She has a Boss 302 intake, JLT2 CAI 85mm throttle body, IP47 injectors, long tube headers with an H pipe, Black Widow neighbor hater mufflers, and last but certainly not

She sounds like a DREAM... a dream that I never want to awake from. There is no better feeling than participating in a car show or simply driving by and all spectators just glance in awe. That’s my girl. That’s my prized possession.

I WANTED TO CARRY ON HIS LEGACY.

I remember my dad had a 1999 green Mustang convertible with black flames. He loved that car more than anything. He drove his car with passion. I enjoyed hearing him talk about his plans he had for his Mustang. Sadly it came to an end once he was diagnosed with cancer. I wanted to carry on his legacy.

We finally got our first GT and I fell in love with it. I wanted to have one I could call mine. I really enjoy driving my car. Going on cruises riding with other Mustang fellows is an amazing experience. His theme was thought of from the emoji ghost. I came up with Ecoboo.

It is equipped with a Cervini grille, RTR front splitter, Roush inlets, GT brake upgrade, custom wheels, drag packs, MMD rear spoiler, lower suspension, and Underglow.

Meet “Miss Behavin”. She is a 2010 Kona Blue Roush Stage 1 in perfect condition and not only that, she is my heart! My husband of 20 years had been looking for a Roush for me for about a year before he died but to no avail. About two months later, I was crying in my bed late one night to the point that tears wouldn’t even come out of my eyes because I was so heart broken. I dont know why I did this but I picked up my phone and went on Facebook and the first thing that showed on my FB was this gorgeous Roush Mustang at a local car dealership for sale! Needless to say she came home with me that very day because I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that my husband sent “Miss B” to me all the way from Heaven! Blue is even my favorite color!

As soon as I pulled up in the car dealership, I knew she was my saving grace! So now I show her beautiful self off at local car shows and meets! She ADORES the attention cause she is like her Mamma and yes... we like to Miss Behave!

My favorite time with her is when we just cruise down long country roads, windows down, listening to her growl which

WITH THESE CARS, HAPPINESS IS MEASURED BY SMILES PER GALLON NOT MILES PER GALLON!

It started when I was a young boy. Mom and dad had a 66 GT Convertible. Yellow with black interior with pony seats, and black convertible top. I still remember it well. Dad had a baby blue 73 Grande. He loved that car.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. I got into Mustangs later in life. I’ll be grilled for this but, I was into Camaros. My cousin Scott Coudoux convinced me to buy a 2016 Ecoboost Performance Pack and I’m so glad I did. His knowledge and love for the car made me a Mustang lover as well. Thanks Cuz! With these cars, happiness is measured by smiles per gallon not miles per gallon!

Mods include 3” MBRP Race catback exhaust, wheels off of a 19 GT premium, Euro tail lights, Steeda blow-off valve adaptor, GT350 rear spoiler, and the vinyl work was done by Jamie Stoneburner of Stoneburner Customs in Hagerstown, Maryland.

HE TOOK ME FOR A RIDE AND I GOT HOOKED!

My passion for Mustangs began when I was 11. My neighbor came home from the Army and bought a 1964.5 Mustang Fastback with a 289 V8 and a 4-speed manual. He took me for a ride and I got hooked!

She has the following modifications: performance tune for premium fuel, BBK cold air induction, Legato Performance axle-back exhaust system, American Muscle appearance modifications (window louvers, rear deck lid, and mirror caps), and Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light/Exo V4 ceramic coating.

Mods as follows: Roush cold air intake, Flowmaster outlaw exhaust, Whiteline 33mm 4-point adjustable front sway bar and 27mm 4-point adjustable rear sway bar, 2” Whiteline Performance lowering springs, 19” staggered Vertini wheels - RFS 1.7 silver machined with chrome lip flow formed rims.

My first car when I was 14 was a 1968 Ford Mustang. Together my Dad and I restored the car inside and out with a fresh new paint job. Before I could turn 15 and get my driver license, I sold the car because it had no AC or radio for a Chevy S-10, and I have regretted it so often.

I fell in love with fast cars at a young age while watching my Dad race dirt track for many years. I made myself a promise

I would own another Mustang. I set forth my career and accomplished that goal back in 2018. After driving her around

MY LITTLE EVERY DAY DRIVER HAS TURNED INTO A CAR THAT REALLY STANDS OUT.

I have had many Mustangs over the years and I purchased this 2017 a year ago, with having only 9,000 miles on it. I thought it would make a perfect daily driver and it does. I have cleaned it up, put a set of Shelby wheels on it, some custom badges that say “No Venom”, and dressed up some of the engine parts. My little every day driver has turned into a car that really stands out. My friends all say it’s been Briannized, that is the art of changing a few items on something that’s already cool making it WAY COOL!

The nickname “No Venom” came from a friend because my other Mustangs are Shelbys. This Mustang, although an automatic, is very enjoyable to drive. The seat coolers are probably one of my favorite options as I am speeding down the highway on a hot summer’s day with the top down.

Mods include Shelby Super Snake wheels, custom badges by Badge King, windscreen by Love To Drive, custom painted engine covers and coil covers.

This is “Smokey”, my 2017 Ford Mustang V6.

I have been a Ford and Mustang girl since I was little. I finally decided on my 50th birthday to buy my dream car. I retired from Ford five years later.

My parents had a Baby Blue ‘65 Mustang when my twin and I were born in April 1966. My Dad regrets giving it up (so do

I), but he says it was pretty hard to tote two baby girls around in the Mustang. I personally would have been totally ok with that!

SO NOW THAT I’M OLDER, WHEN I SAW THE 2013 AND 2014 5.0 I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE ONE!

When I was 13 I fell in love with the 1993 5.0 but I never bought one. So now that I’m older, when I saw the 2013 and 2014 5.0 I knew I had to have one! So here she is my 2014 5.0 Coyote in Deep Impact Blue.

Mods include a MMD aluminum wing, BBK long tube headers, BBK Cadillac X pipe, NXT step performance quad tips, BBK 8.5 mm throttle body, JLT series 2 cold air intake, Ford Performance handling pack, carbon fiber interior with paddle shifters, and a really wicked tune!

JUST THE TIP

SPOILER ALERT!

I love the look of a spoiler on a Mustang. Takes me back to the late 60s to early 70s with the Mach 1. Just gives it that extra edge. But what are they, what do they do, and why are there so many types? Over the years, Ford has come out with different spoiler styles from the factory, but what do they do exactly? Quick answer – Downforce!

As your car is moving forward, air is going over the top of the car, but also under the bottom. The faster you go,

there is more air that is going around the car, and the air going under the bottom of the car will create lift. Yes, like an airplane. And this will make the car lighter the faster you go. In performance situations, you want the wheels pressed to the ground for optimal steering and handling, but if the car is trying to lift off the ground, you’re not getting the downforce that you need. While there are many different spoiler types out there, let’s look at a few of the more popular ones and what makes them work.

Pedestal Spoiler – A true classic. These look like a wing mounted to the top of the trunk. They look like a wing because, well, they are a wing. If you were to cut a pedestal spoiler in half and look at its profile, you’ll see that it’s shaped just like an airplane wing, but upside down.

Lip Spoiler – This type of spoiler also mounts to the trunk, but is flush so air does not go under the spoiler, only over the top. This design helps air move over the car, and creates a slight vacuum directly under spoiler, which will help pull the back of the car downward.

Ducktail Spoiler – A Ducktail is another version of a Lip

Spoiler. It will mount directly to the trunk but has a much higher angle and broader face than a traditional Lip Spoiler. As air moves over the top of the car, it runs into this high angle, wide faced barrier that causes the air to stack up, creating a high-pressure system over the trunk and in front of the spoiler, pushing the rear of the car down, but also creates additional drag.

Chin Spoiler – Front spoilers, aka splitters and air dams, are mounted to the bottom of the bumper cover. Air pushes the front spoiler down, creating downforce on the front end for improved steering response.

SNS DETAILING

I’m Shane, the owner of SNS and my journey into detailing started in 1993. I got a job sanding and polishing cars on the side for friends and family. I never thought it would be more than just that. A few years later, I quit my job and moved on to working as a Corrections Officer when the bug hit me again to do more detailing. This time it quickly grew into

doing lots of cars for everyone, not just friends and family. I knew it was time to make it real so an LLC was created. SNS sold car care products and did detailing. After a few years of doing that, I went to several trainings for ceramic coatings. All the best brands of ceramic required you to attend training for their specific coating. We offer Qtechniq and Modesta ceramic coatings.

JOHN W. GRIFFITHS IV

UNITED STATES ARMY - ALLIED TRADES SPECIALIST

THE FREEDOMS THAT OUR FOREFATHERS FOUGHT AND DIED FOR ARE TRULY UNMATCHED.

My name is John W Griffiths IV. I am a fourth generation active duty Army soldier. In high school I was a varsity cross country and track and field runner. I knew from a very early age I wanted to serve my country and was not afraid to show it. Every year for Halloween when I was younger I was a different version of a soldier. When I graduated high school in 2018, I left my hometown of Easton, PA to chase my dream.

I went to basic training then to advanced individual training to learn my job as an Allied Trades Specialist. I specialize in welding, metal fabrication, and a touch of machining. I have been all around the world and I can confidently say America is the best country. The freedoms that our forefathers fought and died for are truly unmatched. The American dream is real and I’m living it.

All of the friendships and partnerships I have created from my time in service cannot be replicated in any other career field. I wouldn’t trade any of my experiences for the world.

On my weekends I enjoy welding for my small fabrication business, driving my truck, going to rodeos, and riding the occasional bull.
