Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

TALKING WITH TJ

As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew… got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff.

Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings together people from all walks of life. One thing is for sure though, the STANG Mag crew isn’t your typical crew. We are a bunch of weirdos, oddballs, and outcasts. We party hard and live by our ride or die motto and have adventures like no other.

From partying in various spots all over the U.S., to touring some of America’s most haunted sites, to having my ass spanked by a beautiful Latina in Las Vegas in front of a restaurant packed full of guests (and owning it), it’s never a dull moment! All I can say is... strap in, rev the shit out of your motor, and let’s go!

READING WORLD WAR II AIRSHOW

Welcome back STANG enthusiasts, as you all know around this time we usually do our Ford Nationals at Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Well not this year. In honor of our Veterans, we took a detour to the Reading World War II Airshow. As you all know, STANG Magazine supports our Veterans, so what better way to honor them than to support one of America’s top World War II airshows. As mentioned in one of my previous articles, our beloved Mustang is based on the P51 Mustang of World War II. So off I went searching for this beauty.

This show was amazing. Everyone was dressed up in World War II uniforms and there were field tents, jeeps, tanks, and every aircraft you could think of. Literally it is like stepping back in time to the 1940s during the prep for the invasion of Normandy. I enjoyed looking at the various rifles and explosives they had on display. One of the coolest aspects of this was the World War II Airborne jump team. Watching them static line jump from a C-47 called Placid Lassie was cool. It was like a scene from those of World

War documentaries but better, since you are immersed into it and not just watching from a TV screen. These guys dressed in authentic World War II Army Airborne uniforms and gear and gave it their all, Bravo!

Now on to the planes! They had the world’s oldest B-24 Liberator from the CAF B-29/B-24 Squadron named Diamond Lil. Also present was the B-29 Superfortress called FIFI and the TMB Avenger, Doris Mae, which was the largest and heaviest carrier-based aircraft designed primarily as a torpedo bomber. Well after walking around and seeing all the cool planes, it finally happened! Bam, P51 Mustang named Red Nose. It was inspiring to see the legendary curves that inspired our

most beloved vehicle in person and damn what a sound on it. These planes are legendary in aiding the Allies overturning the tide of war into victory for the allies. It was awe inspiring to be in the presence of such history. The best part though, was watching all the World War II planes take off and fly. The sound of these engines is incredible. Loud, bassy, and the crackling of the propeller… damn!! It was like it was thundah! Seriously though, I wish my Mustang would sound like that… one day. A man can dream.

A MECHANIC AFTER DISCOVERING HOW MUCH I ENJOYED IT.

My love for the Mustangs started around 18 years ago when I was only about 11 years old. I fell in love with the new S197. My first car was an 87 LX, as the S197 was a bit too pricey. I learned so much from that car trying to keep it running, so much so that I pursued a career becoming a mechanic after discovering how much I enjoyed it.

I custom ordered this 2014 GT Premium in the beautiful Ruby Red, including all the goodies like leather Recaros, Shaker 1000 audio and navigation. During the 6 week wait for the car to arrive, I had already ordered a Roush exhaust and a few cosmetic pieces. I added MMR billet oil pump gears, Boss 302 manifold, JLT intake, 47lb injectors and a Nitrous Express plate system tuned for E85. I put in a stage 1 MT-82, Exedy clutch and carbon fiber DSS driveshaft to handle the added power. My favorite part of it all is the proud feeling of showing off your hard work to other enthusiasts on the road or at a show.

Growing up I would hear Mustangs run up and down the road behind my home. I knew one day I would be one of those guys. And here I am today with one of many Mustangs I’ve had over the years. This is my first real big build and I’ve built my dream Mustang. It was fully stock when I bought it and now it is living up to its name BEAST! It is not just a show car, it will go! I truly enjoy this car and the looks and crowds it gets. But most of all I enjoy seeing my son Maxwell enjoy what this Mustang gives. He will have this one or one of his own one day and as he was by my side with this build, I too will be by his side building his BEAST!

My name is Steve Rodriguez and I was born and raised in Texas. My passion for cars started at a young age watching my older brother fix up lowriders. As I got older, the muscle cars appealed more to me than the low and slow rides. Every year, I look forward to car show season to see what new and unique ideas people come up with to make their rides stand out. It’s interesting to see someone’s vision come to life and how they express their creativity in their builds.

Carnage is a 5.0 Coyote engine Mustang that I got about 6 years ago bone stock with no modifications. I have built it up to what it is today, adding different modifications to it all the time. I’m a big Marvel fan and went with the Carnage theme because I felt it fit right with the Race Red Mustang and it’s not a theme you see everywhere. I wanted to stand out and be different. Carnage has come a

long way. I like to keep it different and with something new every year and throughout the car show season.

This is my 2012 Mustang GT Premium. Those that know her, know her as “Dirty Diana”. Current mods are ST lowering springs, Nitto NT 555s wrapped on a set of staggered 20 inch Axis wheels, Bama tuned with race tune, BBK headers straight to Corsa Extreme mufflers, BMR panhard bar, BMR strut tower bar, Corsa CAI, 355 gears, Dynavin head unit, big brake kit, Vivid Vynil wrap to break up the black paint, and plenty of dress up parts for the engine bay with L.E.Ds through out.

What can I say? Mustangs are and have been my favorite cars for many years. My first 5.0 was not a Mustang per say but a 1986 Mercury Capri, pretty much a Mustang. Even at that time you didn’t see a lot on the road. Having a unique car like that was kind of fun. Some guys would ask me is that the new Mustang. That’s funny to me because it’s happening all over again with my 2018. By the way we call her Eleanor. This Mustang has absolutely brought back my passion for these cars. The 2020 GT500 is definitely my favorite. Having said that, a build on my 18 was definitely in order.

I bought my 18 in May of 2019. Yes, a left over that I got a very good deal on. Knowing I wasn’t crazy about the front bumper. I figured that someone would come up with something good! I wasn’t passing up on this Gen 3. All I wanted was a Magnetic 10 speed with 355s. This was a base GT, not a Premium. Started with the Cervini grilles. Looked much better but still wasn’t crazy about it, until one day looking through the internet I came across what I can only describe as the perfect mod I was looking for to start my build. Someone actually made a GT500 bumper for the 18. So then it began. Almost 3 years latter, Eleanor was born.

TRACY FISHER HI HO SILVER - 2003 MUSTANG GT I LIKE THE ROUSH STYLING...

My earliest memory of cars is riding in my dad’s ‘65 Fastback he bought new with the backseat folded down so I could see out. After building a slew of Fords and Chevys I had pretty much stopped hot rodding due to my traveling career. My friend’s younger brother moved here to KC shortly after we did and I seen this car tucked away in his basement garage. It hadn’t been driven in a couple of years. He bought it new in LA in 2003.

I bought it cheap and since it was a zero rust car, I couldn’t resist going all out. I never considered an 2003 an old car but it draws a crowd at the meets with the younger guys who do. I spent a year replacing things you never seen before, moving to the things you do.

I like the Roush styling and after two years looking I found a V6 part out and bought the side exhaust. I chose to not install the front lip and went with the Mach 1 piece and grille delete. I installed a new Cobra top and rear spoiler and the Mach 1

The motor is a fresh build and kept mild with 98 NPI block and original PI heads ported and polished. I bought the Typhoon intake for $100 from a Texas salvage yard. It also has Comp 268AH cams, Beehive springs, retainers, 2500 stall converter, Clevite bearings, Ford Performance 3:73 gears, and carrier and pinion bearings installed.

The car is still in the original paint except for the hood and Roush fairings. It is on coilovers and SVE/MT tires and wheels 18x4 / 15x10.

I am currently working on polishing a Logan high ram intake which will be installed next winter.

Lucyfer is a 2011 Candy Red, Mustang GT California Special. She is my second Mustang. I’ve had her since October of 2019. She has a cold air intake by Airaid, Stainless Works exhaust, rear window louvers, Cervini ram air hood, Ford Boss 302 chin splitter, sequential projector headlights by Raxiom, tail lights by Raxiom, and I will be adding much more to her as time goes on.

I only really fell in love with Mustangs and Mustang culture after meeting my husband Dave and my family I’ve met from STANG Magazine. Their passion and their own Mustangs showed me how to really love what you drive and all the fun you can have doing upgrades at home.

ON JULY 22, 1992 THE STAFF AT THE DEALERSHIP OPENED THE SHOWROOM DOORS...

By the time I met my lifelong partner in the summer of 1987, we were both already firmly engrained into the Ford family. My first car out of high school was a 1978 Mustang II and I knew that one day I’d own a ’67 or ‘68 classic AND a FOX. After a few years of convincing ourselves the time was right to purchase a NEW FOX, we had moved into the Summer of 1992.

Barely being ‘legal’ adults and living in an apartment on a tighter than tight budget, we went looking for our FIRST Mustang to purchase together and we found our way to the one and only dealership we visited that day: Lakewood Fordland. After looking at many colors and styles on the lot, from 4 cylinder coupes to LXs, we decided to make our way into the showroom. Right there in the middle of the showroom floor we found what would become our first LOVE – an Ultra Blue on Titanium GT.

That was followed by a full suspension upgrade with Ford Racing/Motorsport components and swapped in MAC equal length headers complimented with a BORLA stainless cat back exhaust system. That winter of 1992, to and from the many custom shops, is the ONLY time the FOX felt rain or SNOW on its tires.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

It wasn’t until years later that we decided it was the right time to upgrade gear ratio to 3.55s and install the 4 lug rear disc brake conversion kit from SSBC. Wow, that was money well spent. 31+ years later, always garage protected, just north of 24,000 original miles on the odometer, our beloved FOX still looks and performs as good as the day we brought it home from the dealership.

On our weekend ritual, once the roads clear from winter, True Blue gets to go out and enjoy our beautiful Colorado roads with big block brother 1967 Mustang Fastback. We enjoy every minute and look forward to many more blissful years with our Fox.

Meet Wicked Soul! She has been a dream of mine for some time now and here she is today. Back in 2014, my husband and I bought our first Race Red 2014 GT Mustang and went to the track to watch. The tech turned to me and said why not rent a helmet and take her down the track! It was so exhilarating and that’s when we got into drag racing. After a few years, we decided to buy a new Mustang which you see here. When we ordered her, she was very basic so that we can build her into whatever we wanted too. Today, Wicked Soul is a 2020 Procharged GT! Some of the other modifications that she has are: VMP fuel pump booster, American Racing headers, a carbon fiber driveshaft by The Driveshaft Shop, 2000 HP rated axles by The Driveshaft Shop, MBRP race exhaust, and a bad ass tune! She also runs on Mickey Thompson tires with Racestar wheels. All the work and tuning has been done by Kevin Hand of Wicked Motorsports in Toms River and with his expertise he has turned her into a 9 second car. Her best time so far is 9.9 seconds at 142 mph in the quarter mile on foot brake! My goal is to run prodial and brackets going forward.

Because I love her so much and I am passionate about racing, I created an Instagram page for her which is Wickedsoul_5.0 and this is where I share her build, racing videos, content and pictures! People love that it’s lady driven too! We also attend lots of car shows and large events. What I love about this industry is the community and the lifelong friends you make along the way! I never thought that I would be doing this with my husband at 58 years old. It is such a fun hobby and we love doing it together. He also has his own 2021 Mustang! Enjoy life and do what makes you happy! This is my passion!

“JUST THE TIP

HOLD UP. THAT’S WHAT KIND OF PLUG?

In several issues, we’ve discussed several topics that may have included disconnecting your battery. We’ve all had to do it, and we all know the consequences. The cars computer gets reset, all of your pre-programmed radio stations are gone, automatic seat settings, and everything else that you worked so hard to get setup is gone. And if you’re among the lucky ones that live in a state that

require emissions testing, the computer reset will stop it from going through the emissions test until it’s been through a complete drive cycle. Interestingly enough, through feedback from our valued readers, we’ve learned that most people do not know about a very cheap and simple device called a ‘Memory Saver’.

When your battery is hooked up, the computer is constantly powered even when the car is off and not running, and that’s what allows it to maintain it’s ‘memory’. Unplug

the battery, the computer loses power, and everything that it remembered is now gone. But when the battery is hooked up, there are other areas in the car that are also always powered. The two we care about is the OBD-II connector and the 12-volt port.

Just like the battery feeds the computer, the 12-volt port and OBD-II connector can feed the computer. It’s all one ‘hot’ system. So we can plug a 12 volt feed into either one of these ports and they will provide 12 volts to the computer even when the battery is disconnected.

These are very simple systems that you can get online or any auto parts store for under $30. Once you plug into one of these ports, the adapter will need to be attached to some sort of 12 volt power source, such as a spare battery, a jump box, jumper cables going to another car, etc...

But once you plug one of these in, you can disconnect your battery completely, do what you have to do, hook the battery back up, and the car will be as if the battery was never disconnected at all.

I’m Shane, the owner of SNS and my journey into detailing started in 1993. I got a job sanding and polishing cars on the side for friends and family. I never thought it would be more than just that. A few years later, I quit my job and moved on to working as a Corrections Officer when the bug hit me again to do more detailing. This time it quickly grew into

doing lots of cars for everyone, not just friends and family. I knew it was time to make it real so an LLC was created. SNS sold car care products and did detailing. After a few years of doing that, I went to several trainings for ceramic coatings. All the best brands of ceramic required you to attend training for their specific coating. We offer Qtechniq and Modesta ceramic coatings.
