Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

TALKING WITH TJ

As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew… got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff.

Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings together people from all walks of life. One thing is for sure though, the STANG Mag crew isn’t your typical crew. We are a bunch of weirdos, oddballs, and outcasts. We party hard and live by our ride or die motto and have adventures like no other.

From partying in various spots all over the U.S., to touring some of America’s most haunted sites, to having my ass spanked by a beautiful Latina in Las Vegas in front of a restaurant packed full of guests (and owning it), it’s never a dull moment! All I can say is... strap in, rev the shit out of your motor, and let’s go!

PENNSYLVANIA RENAISSANCE FAIR

The Pennsylvania Ren Fair, located at Manheim Pennsylvania was a great day. It is on the Mount Hope Estate and Winery, which is a 35-acre ground with Elizabethan Village featuring costumed merrie makes, 22 Royal Kitchens with wenches, and lots of shenanigans. Our day was pirate day, so we all dressed up as pirates, but me. I was the odd ball out.

Our day was filled with lots of craziness. The best part was the various shops that were inside the Elizabethan Village. I always loved the old European town looks and this was right up my ally. Walking through the town was like walking back into the past some 500 years ago. Ye olde wenches were everywhere, and I ain’t complaining. The food was also really good too. Big turkey legs, just like you see on TV. The meade was alright, I ain’t gonna lie, I ain’t a big fan but who am I to judge, I was happy with my food.

Word of the wise, drink lots of fluids. It was hot as hell this day and a lot of hills. By the end of the day half of our group was

While you are there, you can try your hand at axe throwing, archery, and other historical challenges. You can watch the scheduled events, falconry exhibits, horse and lancing competitions, and even a life size chess match with human players dressed as knights, queens, pawns, etc... Throughout the year, there are theme based weekends, wine festivals, and other interesting attractions. One of the coolest while we were there was a mermaid tank with people dressed as mermaids and swimming around. They had it made, as like I said earlier, it was hot as hell the day we went!

Other than that, it was a great time. Hope to you see folks there on our next visit to the Pennsylvania Ren Fair. Don’t forget to give us a huge ARRGGGG when you see us and join our party. You can always find us at the bar near the pirate ship. That is where we tend to hand out and where many of the annual visitors gather for their parties and “family” reunions.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

SINCE THEN, I’VE BUILT AN OVER 1000 HP WHIPPLED POWER PREDATOR ENGINE.

It had all started with Hot Wheels. I was just a young kid who wanted to go fast. Since then, I have always been into fast cars. When I was younger, my brother who is 10 years older than me, always had racecars and when he was working on them in the garage I was there too helping him.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. TBM brake set up, and Circle D Specialties torque converter. The car is sponsored by American Racer Apparel.

I have had a lot of different Mustangs since I was able to drive. From Cobras to SVOs and Bullets, these are just a few to mention that made me a big fan of rare Mustangs. I bought my 2012 Boss Mustang in 2019 bone stock. From there, I started with an NA E85 tune, and since then, I’ve built an over 1000 HP whippled power Predator engine. We now race all over the country at big events such as FL2K, TX2K, and Streetcar Takeover, to name a few.

Mods include a 5.2 Predator short block, ported GEN 2 Frankenstein heads, GEN 5 3.0 Whipple, ID 1700 injectors, Fore Triple Fuel Pump set-up, built Killer Performance 6R80, Kelltrac suspension, 319 Fabrications cage, 7 gallon ice tank,

THE LOVE GREW AND SINCE THEN THERE WAS A TINGLE EVERY TIME I SAW A MUSTANG...

It all started in 2013 when I drove my first Mustang (a race Red convertible) through the Valley Of Fire in Nevada. What a ride and what an experience. We had an amazing time and I loved the car from the first moment I started her.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

The love grew and since then there was a tingle every time I saw a Mustang on TV or on the road. Although it was very difficult to obtain a Mustang in Belgium (I had to import and make a lot of changes to get it on the road) this all changed when the S550 was going to be sold as a European model and with a tax friendly 2.3 EcoBoost. As soon as it came in for a test drive, I was sold. She ran so smooth and looked amazing. The muscular body, it all looks complete. A year later I owned my very first Mustang.

Soon the first mods took place and now it looks just like I had it in my mind all the time. I chose a GT350 look because here in Belgium, I will never own a GT350 and I love the mean look of that car.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

The Mustang gets a lot of thumbs up along the way and we already took her for a spin through the Alps and through France a couple of times. It’s funny to see people gather around the Mustang in parking lots along the way. I think my chiropractor is going out of business soon, as a lot of heads turn when I drive by. She runs so smooth and relaxed. Fuel consumption is a big plus here in Europe, as gas prices are a lot higher than in America. Through the love of the Mustang and going to car shows, we met a lot of nice people with the same passion and even got to get friends for life who also own a Mustang. It definitely changed our lives and will be here as long as it is possible.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

SOMEDAY A MUSTANG WAS IN MY FUTURE AND THEN IT WAS A REALITY.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

I purchased this Mustang in 1987 at the age of 18 right after high school. I have a passion for several different years of the Mustang. My Uncle had a Boss 302 Mustang in the early 70s. I remember how the shape of the car was simply badass. My cousin owns that car today and it still looks brand new. Someday a Mustang was in my future and then it was a reality.

I love cruising and going to the dragstrip with this car. When I got my Mustang I was 30 miles from Detroit dragway. I could jump on I-75 and in 20 minutes be at the race track. The car ran like 11 and 12 second 1/4 mile passes. Sometime in the late 80s early 90s I stepped up to a 351w with some nitrous. Then it’s hello 9 and 10 second passes. It is very fun for a full street car I drive everywhere. The engine combo remained the same until 2017 I broke the block almost in half from a nitrous explosion.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

Right now I have upgraded a few things. It has a Dart block 427 cubic inch, 11:1 compression, AFR 220 heads, custom Bullet turbo cam, 225 Billet Atomizer injectors, Edelbrock super victor EFI intake, Holley 102 mm throttle body, Holley HP and a 88 mm Borg Warner turbo on E85. It is putting that power to the ground through a FTI turbo 400, Ford 9” with 40 spline axles with a 3.50 gear with Afco double adjustables.

I go cruise and hang out on Woodward Avenue with this car. You can drive this car anywhere and it’s a comfortable, fun car that’s very reliable. Not sure what times at the track or what the HP is as it’s never been on the dyno yet.

IT WAS IN A MUSUEM IN CALIFORNIA WITH ONLY 632 MILES ON THE CAR.

I have been looking for a Shelby GT for over two years, searching every day and also searching Ebay for any rare parts I could buy for the car that I knew I would eventually get to own. I had a few thousand dollars in rare parts for a car I didn’t even own yet. My family thought I was a little crazy but I knew one day my dream car would come my way.

Then in 2019 while searching online, I came across one of the rarest Shelby GT-C Mustangs, with only 215 of these cars ever made in Grabber Orange with Silver stripes. It was in a museum in California with only 632 miles on the car. I called them up right away and said I have to buy your car. After convincing them I was not a tire kicker, I wired them the money and the car was mine. I want to thank my daughter Deanna Courchane for inspiring me to never give up on my dream! She isn’t even a car person but she knows how much joy this car has brought us all.

We took the Shelby, #113 out of 215 ever built, to the For The Love Of Shelby Car Show and we won Best in Class. We have won two years in a row now and I was lucky enough

to have Gary Patterson at the show. He is the President of Shelby American. He jumped in my car and autographed it. Now my rare Shelby has Gary Patterson and Carroll Shelby autographs.

I WAS ENAMORED BY BOTH HIS TRIBUTE AND BY THE HISTORY OF THE WW2 AIRCRAFT ITSELF...

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I’m Renee Ratterman, and this is my 2004 Jack Roush inspired P-51 Mustang tribute car after the venerable P-51D “Old Crow” WWII fighter plane. I fell in love with Jack Roush’s own 17’ edition tribute car featured in the Mustang Alley portion of the 2017 Woodward Dream Cruise. I was enamored by both his tribute and by the history of the WW2 Aircraft itself, so I decided to make my own with my 2004 Mustang.

In the summer of 2022, I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Jack Roush at his car show where I had actually parked between two of his cars by mistake! I believe he was pleasantly surprised at my choice of a 4th generation convertible version of his tribute car. He signed the car under the hood and posed for pictures with me. Hopefully soon I will have the honor of meeting the actual WWII pilot Clarence “Bud” Anderson, whose plane is the true inspiration. He will be 102 years old this year and I wish to receive his approval and signature for the car as well. The famed Army Air Corps plane has toured the nation for a number of years since its illustrious service in defense of our great nation.

SMILING DOWN –1969 MUSTANG GT SPORTROOF

WE BOUGHT THIS 1969 AS A FATHER/DAUGHTER PROJECT...

My name is Rebecca Parkos. I am from East Haddam, Connecticut. I would like to share with you the story of my (and my mother’s) 1969 Mustang GT SportsRoof. This car was owned by my father, Joseph Parkos. He and I shared a love for all things Ford, especially Mustangs. Together we have owned a 1968 Mustang convertible, 2003 Mach 1, and 2013 Shelby GT500. We bought this 1969 as a father/daughter project, but we were too inexperienced to restore it.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

It sat for a while until my mom, Sharon, gave my dad the ultimatum of, “Do something with it, or it goes!” So, we sent it off to a wonderful restoration place (E-Muscle of Portland, CT), and it took them four years to do the job right. They had a painter named Smokin’ Joe who painted it. He has won awards for his work including at SEMA. The car was a 1 of 1, as it had weird options such as being an automatic with a factory tachometer and for some reason it was also ordered with a heavy-duty cooling package.

We did ruin its originality by resto-modding it our way. We changed the Lime Gold color to a beautiful newer Ford color called Dark Side Metallic. It shines in hues from green to blue to black, depending on the sun. We have Dakota VHX gauges, a TMI interior, Doug’s headers, and a Flowmaster exhaust. It also runs on a Holley Sniper EFI system. What’s very cool is it has a Thumpr cam. It sounds and shakes like a big block, but still possesses its original 351 4V Windsor V-8.

The day it came out of restoration my dad and I drove down to the Carlisle Ford Nationals in Pennsylvania. No shakedown cruise needed! Unfortunately, my dad only had four months to enjoy the car. He passed away from lung cancer

that year. I think chatting with the men who were restoring the car was good therapy for him. We took his ashes to the cemetery in his Mustang for one final ride. Today, I show the car in his honor along with my mom, who is now a co-owner.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

I should mention that I also owned a 2011 Shelby GT500 convertible. It just didn’t get the reactions like my dad’s ’69. Whenever I go to a store or a gas station, all the older gentlemen come running over and share their muscle car stories with me. I love it! They almost always ask me, “And your dad lets you drive his car?” They don’t know of course, but I always smile and respond emphatically, “Of course he does!” I know my dad is smiling somewhere down on me…

To top it off, she was finished with a 8.8 rear end with 4.10 gears, 31 spline axles, Maximum Motorsports front suspension and adjustable rear, and the car has A/C and heat, power steering, and power brakes. The Recaro seats were professionally reupolstered for a custom touch, the 5 lug was swapped with CCW D110 wheels (10 inch wide rear rims), and the Cobra disc brakes were added all the way around. I am the original owner of all but the 1972 Mach 1. I bought my 1993 LX 5.0 brand new in September of 1993 when I was 18 years old. As soon as the warranty ran out I started making modifications. I ordered my 2003 Mach 1 in April of 2003. I walked my 2021 Mach 1 down the assembly line at Flat Rock Assembly Plant (I work at Ford). Lastly I bought the 1972 Mach 1 in November 2021.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

My passion for Mustangs goes way back to my childhood. I was obsessed with owning one. My older sister had a Mustang. I saved up for the down payment on the 1993 LX and that started my collection of the 4 Horsemen.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

The 1972 Mach 1 is mostly a stock 351 Cleveland ram air. The 1993 LX has a 365 Stroker in it, 4-wheel disc, and super-duty AOD. The 2003 Mach 1 is mostly stock and the 2021 Mach 1 just has window louvers. I plan a Whipple supercharger upgrade at some point soon.

The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!

Members of the STANG Mag family are more passionate about fun and inclusion than they are their cars and that says a lot! I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2022!

This is my 2015 GT Premium PP2 6-speed. Sadly I don’t name my cars but this one is special to me. It was a long search for the perfect clean low mile S550. Then it was time for Roush to do their thing and turn it into a 700+ hp beast.

I’ve always known exactly what I have wanted it to look like and it’s almost there. I’ve never owned a car this much fun, and even the Mustang haters have to come over and check it out when the car is out.

Mods include a Roush supercharger and stage 3 kit, Brembo brakes, Borla Exhaust, Airlift v3 air bags, full Roush trim package, and tuned to 730 WHP!

JUST THE TIP

MORE MATH? RATIOS?

Last month we spoke about the rear end your car and Posi rear. The driveshaft spins a ring and pinion gear in the rear, which converts the vertical motion of the driveshaft to the horizontal motion of the axles, hence spinning the rear wheels to move the car forward. And I’m sure at some point you’ve heard people say things like “I got 410 rear gears” or “I got 373 rear gears”. What are they talking about you may wonder.

The rear gear ratio is the number of rotations that the driveshaft needs to make, to get the rear axles to make one full rotation. For example, if you car is running a 3.55 rear gear ratio (fairly common), that means the driveshaft needs to spin 3.55 times to get one full rotation from the rear axles. 4.10 gears – the driveshaft needs to spin 4.10 times to get one full rotation from the rear axles. This means that the higher number of the ratio requires the

engine to spin the transmission faster, in order to spin the driveshaft faster.

Typically the higher gear ratios improve gas mileage and lower gear ratios are better for performance. But a lot of people, including myself, have modified their Stang with 3:73 gears, especially with the 4.6L motor. It allows the engine to rev up higher in a shorter amount of time and is quite the performance boost.

Is there a downside? Of course. Long trips on highway with the upper gear ratios – your engine will be revved higher the entire trip. If you’re going to do an upgrade

like this, you might want to also consider a 6 speed transmission as the 6th gear acts as an “overdrive” that allows the engine to run a lower RPM while running performance rear gears.

TWISTED BOMBSHELL - BOOK 1 RELEASE

STANG MAGAZINE HAS PUBLISHED MILITARY TRIBUTE BOOKS CALLED TWISTED BOMBSHELL...

If you didn’t know and have not been following along with STANG Magazine in the past two years, you have really been missing out. Not only have we converted to a 501c3 nonprofit giving back to our car enthusiast community, the military, and law enforcement, but we have been launching new projects left and right. A few years back we launched Locked & Loaded Magazine which added more to our pages than just Mustangs. The following year we launched STANG Paranormal because we are crazy and like to go ghost hunting all across the country. Last year, we launched our newest project called “Twisted Bombshell”, focusing completely on our military and our military history.

While getting ready for an event at the Battleship New Jersey, we started to talk about having themed events and honoring our family members who served in the military. We started to research uniforms, family histories, and prized possessions that were passed down through the generations. To make a long story short, out of all of our research, our first Twisted Bombshell book was published and it was a tribute to the 2487th Quartermaster Truck Company (Aviation). They were part of the enormous invasion that landed in Normandy and helped to end World War II.

The best part of those months of endless nights and research... we were able to present the first printed copy to

the ONLY surviving member of the 2487th Quartermaster Truck Company (Aviation). How cool is that?!?

Since then, STANG Magazine has published two other Twisted Bombshell books and we continue to give back to our military near and far. So if you ever see the Twisted Bombshell logo come across our social media outlets or in our pages, that is just one more thing we are doing and something that we hold near and dear to our hearts. Support our Troops!

LOCKED & LOADED

AK-47 VS. AR-15

THEY BOTH HAVE THEIR STRENGTHS...

What’s up people! Welcome to Locked & Loaded Lowdown where we focus on some of the best firearms and “toys” on the market. As many of you auto enthusiasts know, you have to protect youreslf and your property so here at STANG Magazine, we decided to merge our publications all into one, giving you a taste of the best of both worlds. Now, let’s get the LOWDOWN on these bad boys, the AK-47 vs. the AR-15.

The battle between the AK-47 and the AR-15 platforms has been raging for what seems to be a lifetime. Just like religion and politics, you should never bring up the debate as to which platform is better, especially to a bunch of gun enthusiasts. There are many reasons why people choose one or the other. For those who like good old American military might and precision, you have the AR-15 platform. For those who like the always reliable, wicked looking, spray and pray, you have the AK-47 platform. Quite frankly, they both have their strengths and more strengths. It is really hard to talk shit on either platform when they both are the best of the best.

When it comes to the AK-47 platform, history has spoken. The AK-47 platform is genious and will perform under any condition. It is easy to take apart, easy to reassemble, and easy to understand. It is no wonder why this gun has been involved in almost every known military conflict known to man. When it comes to the AR-15 platform, precision and accuracy prevail. The AR-15 style rifles are seemingly more tactical, compact, light, and have been proven to also perform in the

harshest of conditions. Why else would our military keep this style platform? The AR-15, for us as Americans, has also become a universal symbol for patriotism, independence, and good old American ass kicking! If you do not like the AR-15 platform and are American, you are really setting fire to your own house while you are still in it.

Both the AK-47 and the AR-15 platforms are badass and almost any firearm you can purchase based off of either platform is an instant winner. We love both and will always have both by our side.
