MAGAZINE
Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

LAKE ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA
WE DRIVE OUR MUSTANGS LIKE WE STOLE THEM! THE WAY THEY WERE MEANT TO BE DRIVEN AND ENJOYED.
If you are a Mustang enthusiast, you are probably one of a variety of types. There are the show goers who love to attend events to display their shined up Mustangs, there are the clubbers who do everything and anything that their Mustang club requires, there are the cruisers who love to ride around all day (only if it is a weather perfect day), and then there is us.
We are the aimless, adventure seeking, ruckous rowsing, gear headed, MISFITS. We are the kind of Mustang type that built this industry. We go where we want, do what we want, and have no care in the world. We don’t need an agenda, we don’t seek a trophy, and we ride or die in every type of weather and to any location on a whim. We drive our Mustangs like we stole them! The way they were meant to be driven and enjoyed.
On this particular adventure, we were invited to ride out to Lake Erie to spend the weekend with our friends from the Lake Erie Mustang Club. We had no plan, no agenda, and no expectations other than to have fun and enjoy the ride as we always do. The absolute best part of any adventure is the actual driving to your destination, but only with good company and as a herd. Trust me, if you have never traveled with at least a dozen Mustangs as a group, you need to do it! Let’s just say we HIT THE ROAD and it was a blast!

RUM RUNNERS
LAKE ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA
THERE IS NOW
Here’s the Rum Runner story...
In the dead of night, without running lights, a steady stream of wooden speedboats criss-crossed Lake Erie from Canada to the US. with an illegal cargo of outlaw whiskey. It was Prohibition in America and the demand for “decent” booze enticed a small navy of bootleggers - called Rum Runners - to brave Lake Erie’s dangerous unpredictability.
From Port Colburne on the Welland Canal to Port Dover in Long Point Bay - and from elsewhere in Ontario - case upon case of premium Canadian liquor was stacked upon the small but sturdy craft. Some of them headed for the fine harbor of Presque Isle Bay where armed guards supervised the transfer to awaiting trucks for delivery to local speakeasies and downstate clients. And many of those made port at the numerous, clandestine wharfs of the old east Bayfront.
In their memory, there is now a wicked harbor bar in Lake Erie called Rum Runners that we highly encourage you to visit!

The Bicentennial Tower is an observation tower located in Erie, Pennsylvania and features panoramic views of Lake Erie, Presque Isle State Park, and downtown Erie. The tower was built to signify the city’s bicentennial year 1996. It is 187 feet tall and has two observation decks.
The Bicentennial Tower was built in 1996 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the city of Erie and has become a “must do” for tourists and locals alike.
While on the top observation deck, 138 feet above Presque Isle Bay, you can see in every direction and enjoy stunning views of Lake Erie, Presque Isle, the City of Erie and outlying areas. In fact, on a clear day it’s possible to see all the way to Long Point in Ontario, Canada, 27 miles away!

HANDS DOWN, ONE OF THE BEST ADVENTURES WE HAVE BEEN ON TO DATE!
Every year there is an event in Erie, Pennsylvania that all Mustang enthusiasts should attend. It is called the Mustang Round-Up and it is hosted by the Lake Erie Mustang Owners Club (LEMOC). One of the oldest and most respected Mustang clubs on the East coast, this family of Mustang enthusiasts has a collection of ponies that we have never seen duplicated. Their collection of Mustangs will put any of the ones you have seen to shame, even the Mustangs proudly displayed at SEMA.
Trust us, they have some of the rarest Mustangs on the planet and you would never even know it, considering they are a very humble and fun-loving group in Western Pennsylvania.Every single member of LEMOC will give you the shirt off of their back, literally.
LEMOC invited the STANG Magazine crew to come visit and the weekend did not disappoint. The Mustang RoundUp weekend consists of a huge welcome picnic and barbeque at a local park, cruises all around the local lake and historical town of Erie, nightlife fun all over town, and an all Ford show which concludes with every member of LEMOC lining up, clapping, and waving to you as you leave for the weekend. Adding this particular touch, you are both greeted and depart feeling like a member of their loving family. Hands down, one of the best adventures we have been on to date!

THE 2022 LEMOC MUSTANG ROUND-UP HAD A FANTASTIC TURN OUT. BOB FERNANDO FORD HOSTED AND SPONSORED THE EVENT AS THEY HAVE DONE FOR MANY YEARS.
The 2022 LEMOC Mustang Round-Up had a fantastic turn out. Bob Ferrando Ford hosted and sponsored the event as they have done for many years.
The show had over 100 Mustangs, several display vehicles, and LEMOC had the opportunity to have STANG Magazine and several of the STANG Mag family members join them for a great weekend. All that came enjoyed music and trivia and other activities.
The best part of the Mustang Round-Up event is being able to share the proceeds with a local charity. In 2022, the pro-
ceeds were enough to help out two organizations. One was a local Vietnam Veterans Memorial, who was in the process of making some updates to the memorial grounds. The other organization was the Women’s Veterans Program at the VA in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Be sure to join LEMOC this year as they expect to have another wonderful event as always.

“JUST THE TIP
WAIT, YOU’RE PUTTING THAT IN THERE?
We’ve seen multiple tropes/memes/videos about people falling for the “Better get the winter air in your tires! It’s January! LOL!”. True that it’s funny, but did you know that there kind of is such a thing? Winter air? We could call it Summer air as well.
You put air in your tires, and typically, it is just that. Air. What we breathe every day. But ‘Air’ is a mixture of different gases. Roughly – 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and small amounts of other gases such as neon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, etc. Here’s the ‘science-y’ part. Winter air, or Summer air, is not the air that we breathe. It’s the nitrogen only.
What’s the difference you may ask. Oxygen is prone to expansion under heat, or contraction in the cold. Take a hot air balloon for example. They blow in ‘Air’, apply heat through a burner which causes the molecules to expand, then they let a little bit of that expanded air out of the top of the balloon, causing less air pressure inside the balloon than there is on the outside, so the balloon goes up. What is expanding
in the balloon are the oxygen molecules.
Nitrogen molecules have a larger structure and are far more stable in heat/cold. They do not expand as much. Filling your tires with nitrogen will give you a far more stable air pressure profile, regardless of if it being the middle of Summer in Arizona, the middle of Winter in Minnesota, racing on the street or racing on the track. Your tire pressure will stay the same which we know greatly decreases tire wear and improves performance.
The downside of course is that it’s going to cost more to get air in your tires and it’s not widely available. But for performance/racing applications, it may be something to look into! And stop picking on people who get Winter air. They’re not out of their minds.
