MACH 1 POWER & STYLE MAGAZINE SPECIAL EDITION HONORING OUR sPECIAL EDITION MUSTANGS

MAGAZINE

Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

I FINALLY HAD MY FIRST PURPLE MUSTANG...

This is Blanche, named after my grandmother. In 1998 I was graduating high school and as a graduation gift, she was going to co-sign on a purple Mustang. My grandmother suffered a major stroke the very next morning after graduating, and for the next 10 years we provided care at home for her until she passed in 2008. During this time, I met my husband whom was a Ford guy, with his first car being a Foxbody with many more Mustangs to follow. He had a 2004 DSG Mach 1, which we lost in a garage fire in 2022. Ford had came out with Mischievous Purple as a color option, needless to say it was a game changer for me and she was ordered in August. I sold my 04 GTO and then Ford was unable to complete my build, but my salesperson went above and beyond and found my exact build. She was delivered in February and I finally had my first purple Mustang just years later!

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

Mods include HP front lip, GT 500 side splitters, smoked Euro tail lights, Badge King chassis/steering wheel, VORS 4 white wheels, full ceramic coating with paint correction, window tint, Steeda dual rate sport lowering springs, and Steeda resonator delete x pipe.

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!

Members of the STANG Mag family are more passionate about fun and inclusion than they are their cars and that says a lot! I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2022!

I DROPPED TWO THINGS...

Summer 1973, I was 8 years old and, with parental permission, my best friend and I rode our bikes at night to 7/11 for slurpees and comic books. Upon exit, I fell in lifelong love as I watched a brand new Mach 1 burn out and rocket away from the red light turning green. I dropped two things as that monster of heavy metal thundered into the darkness of night and the light of my heart, my jaw and my Spider-Man slurpee... Long Live the Mach 1!

ERNST (Mach - the 19th century Austrian physicist whom the Speed of Sound is named after) is my 1973 Mach 1 that is an ode to everything Mustang. As for the purists reading this, yes there was no Cobra submodel in ‘73 but I put on the Cobra emblems to signify that the 351 Cleveland is a Cobra Jet

I SET OUT ON A MISSION...

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

I was lucky to have been raised in a “Ford Family” in the 60s and 70s with my Father being very loyal to the Ford - Lincoln - Mercury “brand”. My first exposure to the Mustang was my Dad’s 67 2 + 2 and then through a family connection with Johnny Bolton Ford in Winter Park, FL. I was a kid but vividly remember the Shelbys, Boss 302s and Mach 1s of the late 60s, early 70s. That instilled a love for cars but specific to the Mustangs from that golden age. That fire burned for years until I was out of college and working professionally. I ordered an 87 LX Fastback spec’d the way I wanted. If you remember at the time, you could get the GT with all the plastic ground effects or the better looking LX with first Gen 5.0 HO V8 mated to a Tremec T-5 manual. From there the passion morphed into a variety of SN95s and S197s. Most notable 07 GT500, 13 Boss 302 and 14 Roush Stage 2. All manuals, of course. Once the S550 debuted in 2014 the hook was in. The styling, engineering and build quality was so good I set out on a mission to acquire the best of the “limited edition” manual cars from that generation. With a 16 and 17 GT350s and 19 Bullitt already in the paddock, the Mach 1 was the last S550 to buy. It was ordered in December of 2020 and delivered by Billy Howell Ford in Cumming, GA in September of 2021. My Son (who was driving an 01 Bullitt at the time) decided to sell his 01 Bullitt and start a search for the SN95 version of the Mach 1. After several months, we found two 03 Mach 1s that were being auctioned at Mecum in Kissimmee,

FL. Fortunately, he was high bidder on the first 03 Mach 1 to cross the block and drive that car home. I guess you could say that both Mach 1s were “special order”.

THE MACH –2003 MACH 1

MY WIFE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE MACH 1 IMMEDIATELY...

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

This is our 2003 Mach 1 #5919 Torch Red with Dark Charcoal interior. My wife and I purchased this car back in 2005 from our local Ford Dealer. It had just been traded in by the original owner with just under 30k miles. My wife fell in love with the Mach immediately… but after driving it a few weeks in daily traffic (I-4 is sometimes a parking lot) she realized it wasn’t going to be practical. But we both agreed we could not part with the car. They were already a collectible, so I started to drive it (completely stock), then I realized what all the fuss about with the 4.6 4V engines. It is not as powerful as it’s Cobra counter part but with a few mods and bolt-ons it comes to life.

The 4V 4.6 is a real screamer when paired with Kooks long tube headers, Kooks X-pipe, K&N cold air kit, and American Thunder catback. SCT tuned the current setup and it’s really fun to drive. I also upgraded the 17” wheels to the more modern standards 18 X 9 front and 18 X 10.5 rear with Nitto G2 tires. I added Ford Racing lowering springs as well. I do some Wednesday drag racing when weather and time permits at our local track Orlando Speedworld. Current best is 12.1 @107.

In 2021, we purchased our Mach 1 with the handling package. It is visually stunning, has a deep melodic growl, but most importantly it is a track beast. Driving the Mach 1 around a racetrack for 20+ minutes is unquestionably therapeutic and rewarding. Nothing beats the smell of the exhaust, brakes, and tire rubber. I love hearing that Coyote upshift and downshift while I’m trying to find the perfect line. It is an addiction that I cannot get enough of.

Growing up, I always admired the Mustang. I never thought I’d be in my late 30s racing my own around a track. Additionally, I never imagined the community of fellow Mustang enthusiasts I would become a part of. This car has afforded my family and I the opportunity to develop and cultivate some incredibly valuable and positive relationships. Without sounding kitschy, this car is undeniably a part of our family.

The Mach1 has a MP Concepts vented hood and Palm beach Dyno E85 tune.
