Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

TALKING WITH TJ

As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew… got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff.

Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings together people from all walks of life. One thing is for sure though, the STANG Mag crew isn’t your typical crew. We are a bunch of weirdos, oddballs, and outcasts. We party hard and live by our ride or die motto and have adventures like no other.

From partying in various spots all over the U.S., to touring some of America’s most haunted sites, to having my ass spanked by a beautiful Latina in Las Vegas in front of a restaurant packed full of guests (and owning it), it’s never a dull moment! All I can say is... strap in, rev the shit out of your motor, and let’s go!

IRISH LINEAGE

It’s March and you know what that means? St. Patty’s Day, one of the best days of the year! Booze…booze…and more booze filled with cheap shenanigans. You know what? In recent years Ford also has celebrated St. Patty’s Day as traditionally, it is the time for special announcements of Green Mustangs! In 2018 on St. Patty’s Day, Ford had announced the release of the color Need for Green for the 2019 model. The color has been described as a “confident, youthful attitude, and vibrant that jumps out at you, giving Mustang enthusiasts a car that pops out in a crowd.”

Honestly, I love this color. It’s bold, bright, and in your face. In 2019, Ford celebrated with the announcement of the 2020 GT500 in Grabber Lime, which is a more subdued shade of green. Ford has announced that the inspiration of the color draws from the colors of vintage Mustangs of the 1970s. How cool is that? A blast from the past.

Is all this a coincidence that Ford is celebrating a St. Patty’s day or maybe just a great marketing campaign? I think NOT!

Fun Fact, Henry Ford’s ancestors were from Cork, Ireland. Well initially the family has been traced back to England but during the 16th century they settled in Ireland. Henry Ford’s grandfather, John Ford, was born close to the town of Ballinascarthy. The Ford Family farmed a section of land that they had leased in 1819 in this area. They tended this land until they immigrated to America in 1847 due to the height of the great famine. During this transition to America, the journey was very treacherous. On the journey to America, they went from Ireland to Queenstown, Canada but during that trip, John’s wife Tomasina, did not survive. After this tragic loss John settled with his family, including his 21 year old son William at Dearborn, Michigan and continued to do what they knew how to do best, farming. It was here that William met Mary Litogot, which the two married

in 1861 and gave birth to their first son Henry Ford in 1863. Henry’s strong Irish lineage instilled a strong work ethic which drove him to become an engineer with the Edison illuminating company. In 1901 he successfully built his first car and established the Ford Motor Company in 1903. It wasn’t until 1908 after he introduced the Model T that Ford Motor Company took off.

As you can see Ford comes from an Irish lineage and continues to celebrate their roots today with the celebration of St. Patty’s day. Trust me, we at STANG Mag did our part as well to celebrate our Irish heritage. Drinking and enjoying our family time together at our local Irish pub. Happy St. Patty’s day and stay safe, car season is just about to kick off!

If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I bought this 2009 GT 500 brand new off of the showroom floor. At the time I was driving a 2006 yellow GT and would’ve never dreamed of having a Shelby. It was a long time in the dealership that day, trying to work out the trade, and then it happened. I drove home in a brand new 2009 white with blue striped Shelby GT500. 14 years later, it still sits here in my garage fortunately, now it has a couple of brothers and sister Shelbys to keep her company.

Over the years, I have done a lot of work to it, like having the blower polished and ported by Stiegemeier Porting Services, added on custom coil covers, chrome valve covers, Shelby polished aluminum tanks and caps, JLT, air cleaner, Ford Racing suspension, 3.73 gears. This car has been a large part of my amazing Mustang journey.

WE HAVE MET SO MANY AWESOME PEOPLE SINCE OWNING IT AND CONTINUE TO MEET MORE AS WE GO ALONG.

I would say my affection with cars started at a young age. Having many cars growing up, from Camaros to Chevelles to 4x4 trucks. It wasn’t until I got my first Mustang, a 69 Mustang Convertible that I fell in love with Mustangs. I was always taking it to car shows and cruises and even a few parades, but life happened and I had to sell it with many regrets.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. Fast forward almost 25 years. My wife and I were at a Mustang show that a local mustang club was hosting and the bug bit me again. So the search began again for another Mustang, it was a pretty short search as the first one I went and looked at, I brought home the very next night. We even had it on a Mustang cruise that weekend. We take it to shows and cruiseins almost every weekend. Even trips to nowhere in particular like a 110 mile trip just to get ice cream. The car is basically stock with a few mods. We have met so many awesome people since owning it and continue to meet more as we go along.

Current mods include X pipe, lowered 2”, tubular rear control arms, BBK cold air intake, BBK 70mm throttle body Trick Flow intake, and tinted windows.

I’ve grown up around cars. Tomboy at its finest. My dad used to buy, work on, and sell classic cars. At the wee age of 13 I was given a 1970 ugly green Mustang. My after-school activities included sitting in the car pretending to drive, which meant pretending to outrun the cops, lol. Unfortunately, I was unable to keep the car because it didn’t belong to me but that was not the last I had of enjoying these beautiful classic cars. My dad always felt bad for selling the ugly Mustang because of how much I loved it. Fast forward to my late teens and I bought a motorcycle. One year into ownership an ex-classmate ran a stop sign and ran me over. Thankfully I’ve recovered but not without random muscle pains that will last forever. That broke my dad’s heart to know that he introduced me to cars/motorcycles and all things that go fast. Fast forward to 2017 and I found a 1964 1/2 Mustang Coupe list-

ed on Craigslist. As you can imagine I bought the car, drove the car, spent money on the car, loved the car, and then sold the car. I never intended to keep that Mustang but it was a segway into finding a Fastback locally owned that I could restore with my pops to become my own. And I did just that!

May 16th a Facebook Marketplace ad caught my eye. 1966 Mustang Fastback 2+2 in Copperas Cove. Imagine, the car I wanted in my backyard. Best believe, I went and bought it with cash in hand! Funny story on what that really entailed. Now I’m the proud owner of EntraStang. That’s what I named my car. This car has had everything replaced (by my favorite shop in Austin, Gus Garage) except the paint on the car. I watched Motor Trend, called my dad, and invested untold research hours. I knew I wanted a patina beast to take to all

As soon as I saw this immaculate “Need for Green” Mustang for sale a few years ago I knew I had to have it! It was quite a challenge to get the car from Emerald (Queensland, Australia) to its new home in Tasmania during the midst of the pandemic. Everything was stock on the car when I got it, however I had a fair idea of the mods I wanted and once I got it home it didn’t take long for the transformation to begin!

The gold accents on the stripes, pony badge, and wheels are a tribute to my previous car that I owned for twenty years, a 1976 Holden Torana hatchback. I sold the Torana a few years ago and the Mustang was the perfect replacement! Lots of people started calling the car “The Hulk”, so the finishing touch was the HULKGT numberplates. I absolutely love this

Mustang passion is like no other. My wife and I eat, sleep, and drink everything about Mustangs. She turned me into a Mustang lover ten years ago. Our 2009 GT was our baby (Karma1.0). We put a lot of blood, sweat, tears and money into her but we reached the point where we were just ready for something newer. Then we found Karma 2.0. She was a one owner and we knew the owner. She was kept in mint condition with low miles so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity. We traded the 09’ for the 16’. We’ve only had her for one year, but we’ve come a long way. This build keeps ups involved in Mustang meets, car shows, and any events car oriented. I like to build for race and my wife loves the show aspect, so we get the best of both worlds.

THAT WAS THE BEST TIME, TO BE AT AN EVENT WITH THOUSANDS OF MUSTANG ENTHUSIASTS AND THEIR CARS.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

My name is Mike Carnevale. I am 73 and have loved cars all my life. I grew up in a small town in New England during the best years of muscle car America. My grandfather worked with John Northrop developing his combustion engine and was a tech service rep for Willys Jeep. He started my love for cars. I was not a jock and neither were my friends, we were gear heads. Working on the cars during the week and racing somewhere on Friday and Saturday. My first car was a 1963 Pontiac Catalina. I drove it to aircraft school for two years. Then I bought my first Mustang, a 1966 Mustang GT, 289, 225HP with the 4 speed, Red. I loved that car but needed more room for the family so I bought a 1968 Dodge Charger Rt 440 auto. As life went on I found I could afford a hobby car which ended up to be a 1968 GTO that I put a 1968 Cadillac 472 cu. in. engine in with all the rest of the go fast goodies. Then I traded it for a 1965 Mustang 289 cu. in. Coupe when I moved to NC and that started my love affair with Mustangs. Again I modified it with carburetor intake, ignition, tires, wheels, etc...

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. the best time, to be at an event with thousands of Mustang enthusiasts and their cars. After eight years of the Fox, I had an opportunity to buy a last year carbureted 1985 GT in Black so I did. It was one of the last 100 built. I went to several

After a few years of that car I bought a 1991 GT, Red again. That was, by far, my most favorite car. My friend was a driving instructor at driving events for a Mustang club at Carolina Motorsports Park and so I signed up for a weekend and I was bitten. I modified everything that Ford had missed and went for many weekend events. My friend had a 1990 GT and so we went to every Ford Mustang anniversary event we could. I believe we did the 20th, 25th, 30th, and the 40th. That was

car shows and received several awards for it but I wanted something different. I sold that to a military person in Germany and bought a 1994 Black Cobra from the original owner. Again I spent hours modifying it inside and out and then I got cancer and I sold the Cobra. A year into my treatment it was looking positive for success so I wanted one more special car. In high school my best friend’s dad bought him a 1968 Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet for his graduation and I never forgot that car. So I bought the 2003 Mach 1 that I currently own. I believe that car will be the last. I have done some chosen mods for spirited street driving on the back roads of NC. I have been to the Back of the Dragon in Virginia with my daughter and the car was a blast. I have always wanted to own a Ford Lightning but I think I will call it quits with the Mach 1. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PASSIONATE ABOUT CARS AND MOTORSPORTS IN GENERAL.

I have always been passionate about cars and motorsports in general. My first car when I turned 16 was a 1968 Mustang Coupe, Olive Green with Green interior 289 automatic. I drove that car for over a year until I hit this small pedal on the left side floorboard and the wiper made one swipe. At that point it was Ford, Lincoln, Mercury for me.

I also had a 1988 LX Mustang that I raced for a hobby and its best time in the quarter mile was 10.26 @ 130 mph. Good times. I currently own a 2003 Ford Lightning, 2022 Lincoln Nautilus, and of course my 1982 Mercury Capri RS.

When I walked into a Ford dealer looking to buy a pickup truck everything changed in the blink of an eye. When I saw this Mustang, I was instantly hooked. Buying a pickup truck never happened as I left the dealership with this baby. I’ve had my Mustang now for three years and ever since the day I got it home I have just been building on it. My Mustang has definitely changed my life. The friendships I have made and the fun times with this Mustang are just endless. I put so many hours into modding my Mustang that all the work I put into it paid off. The attention that it gets is just unbelievable. It’s an awesome feeling that people could enjoy this car as much as I do. Gotta love the Mustang life!

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

Mods include a Ford Performance power pack 2, Ford Performance GT350R brake kit, staggered Gunmetal Velgen VF5s 20/10 front and 20/11 rear, Nitto G2s 275/35/20 front and 305/30/20 rear, Roush coilover kit level 2 single adjustable, McLeod Rxt twin disk clutch/aluminum flywheel, Barton hybrid 3 short throw shifter, BMR suspension level 3 package, full Anderson Composites carbon fiber GT5 hood, Type-AR front chin splitter, rear diffuser, side splitters, side scoops, rear decklid, and Trufiber carbon fiber interior with Katzkins leather interior.

The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!

Members of the STANG Mag family are more passionate about fun and inclusion than they are their cars and that says a lot! I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2022!

“JUST THE TIP

IT’S GETTING HOT IN HERE!

We’ve finally hit that time of year where winter starts to ease it grasp, and warmer, more favorable conditions are starting to arrive. Several months ago, we had gone over some Tips to get your car ready for winter, but did you know that you should de-winterize your ride? Now that we’re getting ready to hit the road for cruises and trips, here are a few easy steps to pull your car out of winter mode, and get it ready to roll:

Wash that thing – This is probably the most important thing you do coming out of winter, especially those of us in the northern areas of the country. Road salt that is added to road surfaces to melt ice and snow will wreak havoc on your car. The buildup of salt on your cars exterior will slowing leech away the paint, and will cause more vulnerable exposed metal parts to rust prematurely. While most of the time you may take your car to an automatic car wash, this is one time when a good had wash is essential. Wash

it well, and focus on the undercarriage, wheel wells, and other crevices where salt and road grim could build up and cause damage.

Check tires and alignment – Driving in the winter months can be very difficult on a car. If your like us and live here in Pennsylvania (Nationally known for having the worst roads in the country), driving through potholes, ruts, and anything else on the road can knock your cars alignment out of whack, damage tires, and even speed up the dry rot of tires due to the amount of road salt. Check air pressure and tires for any cuts or visible missing chunks.

Wiper blades – Wiper blades can take a beating during the winter. Running over frozen, snowy windows for extended periods of time can cause the bladed to start to tear. Check them out and change them proactively if you have any concerns, so they don’t tear completely off when you really need them.

Oil change – Some vehicles allow for different oil weights to be run in a cars engine, where a thinner oil can be run in the winter, and heavier, more standard oil in the summer. If you went with a thinner oil blend over the last 3 or months, now is the time to change it back.
