Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride!

TALKING WITH TJ

As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew… got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff.

Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings together people from all walks of life. One thing is for sure though, the STANG Mag crew isn’t your typical crew. We are a bunch of weirdos, oddballs, and outcasts. We party hard and live by our ride or die motto and have adventures like no other.

From partying in various spots all over the U.S., to touring some of America’s most haunted sites, to having my ass spanked by a beautiful Latina in Las Vegas in front of a restaurant packed full of guests (and owning it), it’s never a dull moment! All I can say is... strap in, rev the shit out of your motor, and let’s go!

IRISH LINEAGE

It’s March and you know what that means? St. Patty’s Day, one of the best days of the year! Booze…booze…and more booze filled with cheap shenanigans. You know what? In recent years Ford also has celebrated St. Patty’s Day as traditionally, it is the time for special announcements of Green Mustangs! In 2018 on St. Patty’s Day, Ford had announced the release of the color Need for Green for the 2019 model. The color has been described as a “confident, youthful attitude, and vibrant that jumps out at you, giving Mustang enthusiasts a car that pops out in a crowd.”

Honestly, I love this color. It’s bold, bright, and in your face. In 2019, Ford celebrated with the announcement of the 2020 GT500 in Grabber Lime, which is a more subdued shade of green. Ford has announced that the inspiration of the color draws from the colors of vintage Mustangs of the 1970s. How cool is that? A blast from the past.

Is all this a coincidence that Ford is celebrating a St. Patty’s day or maybe just a great marketing campaign? I think NOT!

Fun Fact, Henry Ford’s ancestors were from Cork, Ireland. Well initially the family has been traced back to England but during the 16th century they settled in Ireland. Henry Ford’s grandfather, John Ford, was born close to the town of Ballinascarthy. The Ford Family farmed a section of land that they had leased in 1819 in this area. They tended this land until they immigrated to America in 1847 due to the height of the great famine. During this transition to America, the journey was very treacherous. On the journey to America, they went from Ireland to Queenstown, Canada but during that trip, John’s wife Tomasina, did not survive. After this tragic loss John settled with his family, including his 21 year old son William at Dearborn, Michigan and continued to do what they knew how to do best, farming. It was here that William met Mary Litogot, which the two married

in 1861 and gave birth to their first son Henry Ford in 1863. Henry’s strong Irish lineage instilled a strong work ethic which drove him to become an engineer with the Edison illuminating company. In 1901 he successfully built his first car and established the Ford Motor Company in 1903. It wasn’t until 1908 after he introduced the Model T that Ford Motor Company took off.

As you can see Ford comes from an Irish lineage and continues to celebrate their roots today with the celebration of St. Patty’s day. Trust me, we at STANG Mag did our part as well to celebrate our Irish heritage. Drinking and enjoying our family time together at our local Irish pub. Happy St. Patty’s day and stay safe, car season is just about to kick off!

ELEANOR - 2022 MUSTANG GT

I became Mustang obsessed in 1968 at the age of seven. Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen, got my attention and 55 years later the obsession is still going strong. I bought my first Mustang in 1987, second in 1989, another in 2003, and now my all time favorite the 2022 Mustang GT Premium. Her name is Eleanor, no big surprise. I love the way she looks, the way she sounds, and the way I feel when I put the pedal to the metal.

Last October I got to check off a huge bucket list item. World Wide Technology allowed me to take pictures in the pit area,

on pit road, and on the track. It was one of the happiest days of my life! I was able to share this incredible experience with my husband and son, who is also a Mustang fan. I hope the feeling of kissing the start/finish line never goes away!

THIS MUSTANG HAS A HISTORY! IT WAS PURCHASED AS A VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT IN 2016.

This Mustang has a history! It was purchased as a Valentine’s Day gift in 2016. Three months later, it was T-boned by an uninsured driver. My mom and future step-dad were devastated. This car was going to be used as their “get a way” car at their June wedding. The car sat under a tarp in the drive way for four years before dad was able to save the money to repair it. My mom has always loved working on cars. I am learning, with the help of her and my step-dad, Terry. Mom decided to purchase a 2017 Mustang GT Premium in 2021, after their divorce. She got to keep “Harley” and has passed her down to me.

Mom and I love taking both of our Mustangs to car shows and burnout contests together. Mom and I never really fit in growing up, but we have joined a local car group called Black Mark Mafia, LLC. The bond we have with this group is amazing. They like that mom is “one of the guys”, and that I am car savvy as well. I can’t wait for the car show season to start each year, and during the off season, we clean and work on our Mustangs together! True mom/daughter bond!

THIS IS THE BEST MUSTANG I HAVE EVER OWNED...

My passion for Fords and Mustangs began in high school. My first car was a 1966 Mustang Coupe with a 289 2V with an automatic. With this car I learned how to repair and modify everything on it and so my passion began. I have owned a total of six different Mustangs, one of the last ones being a 1999 Cobra Convertible with Roush side exhaust and many modifications. This car was my every day driver. I used it to pick up my kids from school and after school activities. My children could always hear me coming because of the loud exhaust. With time, that changed to being just a weekend fun car. Back then, I joined the Southern Arizona Mustang Club which is the longest surviving Mustang club in the continental United States and started going to car shows. While in for a new convertible top, the Cobra was stolen never to be

found. Thus the purchase of this Mustang, my 2012 Shelby GT 500 “Kona Blue”, my favorite color. And so the journey begins again to make this car mine with many personal modifications. My wife calls her the princess. This is the best Mustang I have ever owned and more mods on the way.

MY DAILY DRIVER – 2013 MUSTANG GT

I CAME ACROSS THIS MUSTANG AND IT BROUGHT BACK ALL THE GREAT MEMORIES I HAD AS A KID.

As a young boy, I started working on cars with my dad. I got hooked on them very quickly. When I started driving, my dad gave me an Opal Cadet. No air, no radio, and a manual transmission. I quickly learned how to drive a stick. Well that turned into a 340 Dart Swinger, then a 383 Road Runner, and next came the 454 Corvette.

Then I got married and had a family. I had to say goodbye to the cars. At the age of 65, with my family all grown up now, I came across this Mustang and it brought back all the great

memories I had as a kid. Well, I bought it and it is my daily driver. I feel 19 again.

This pony is a 2013 Mustang GT Premium equipped with a Borla Atak axle back exhaust, K&N Blackhawk cold air intake, GT strut tower brace, Barton short throw shifter, Ford Shelby rear spoiler, and custom airbrushing by PaintZoo.

RENEE–2001 MUSTANG GT

This is my 2001 Mustang GT. I’ve always been interested in Mustangs but never thought I would own one, until a friend of mine bought a mint condition 2005 Saleen Mustang and started doing the car show thing. Finally, I was talked into buy this car. It didn’t always look like this. When I purchased it, it was a stock GT with front, side, and rear damage with faded green paint. I started watching videos on body work and paint. I bought the Saleen body kit and did most of the body work myself with the help of a friend in my garage.

I’ve always wanted to try and paint a car, so after about five hours of how-to videos on YouTube I bought a paint gun from Harbor Freight and gave it a go. Needless to say it’s not perfect, but I was very happy with the outcome. I installed 4:10 gears in the rear, CAI and valve covers paint matched (Dark Highland Green), a catless Bassani X-pipe, and currently running a 100 Shot of nitrous. Recently I’ve started going to car shows with my wife and friends. I now understand why people have such a passion for Mustangs and enjoy them so much

SPELL CASTER - 2014 MUSTANG

I got introduced to Mustangs when I first got to ride in a 1970 Mach 1 and a 1964 1/2 Mustang. I fell in love with them.

I have owned five different styles now. My first was a 1999 Mustang GT, but my favorite styles are the 1964 1/2, 429 Boss, 1999 Mustang GT, and the 2014.

It took me a while but I bought my first one in 2012. Mustangs are my love and passion. My 2014 is Deep Impact Metallic Blue and it is a V6 with a black interior. It is my fifth one so far. There are no mods at this time but maybe in the future.

I named this one SPELL CASTER because anywhere I go he draws people in. It’s like he has casted a spell on them.

If you have never owned one, you’ll never know what it is like. It is more than a car, it is a Mustang. Nothing but pure American muscle. I hope to add some side louvers in the future. Mustangs rock!

Two years, two champions, two cars, two different classes, and two different drivers. That’s Team Duo. Casey Flora was the 2021 Street Car Takeover Street Racer Mild Champion. Jamie Flora was the 2022 Women & Wheels Champion.

Casey set out the 2022 season to revamp his car. He has a 2016 Mustang GT built by Jessie’s Garage with a TKM Performance motor with a single turbo set up, TH400 turbo transmission, 8.50 cert cage, parachute, and with a Holley dominator and fuel system.

For the 2023 season, Jamie’s car is a 2019 Mustang GT NA/ NOS. Her car is equipped with a Suncoast Performance 10r80 transmission and converter.

Both have a powerhouse team of sponsors with special thanks to UPR Products, Jessie’s Garage, Suncoast Perfor-

My passion for Muscle cars started when I was in high school. I always loved muscle cars. When I was in high school I drove a 1969 Pontiac GTO, then after high school I had a Camero Z- 28. It wasn’t until I was in my 30s, working full-time, I had a coworker that had a 2003 VWhen the 2005 model came out with the retro style, I wanted one so bad, but at that time, it was not practical to have one.

My mom and dad lived next to a Ford dealership, and every time a Mustang would be on the lot that had the colors that I wanted, which were the blue with white stripes, my dad would take a picture of it and tell me to come and get it. I still could not afford one at that time because I was saving for my daughter’s college education. Later in my older years, after my daughter finished undergrad and law school, my wife spotted a used Mustang on the internet for sale at a Toyo-

ta dealership that had the exact color that I love. She talked me into buying it. My coworker friend passed away before I bought the car and so did my dad but because of the Covid epidemic he never got a ride in my Mustang. I think of both of them every time I drive my car. I know my coworker friend would have been so jealous of the horsepower in the newer Mustangs. Nothing runs like a Mustang.

“JUST THE TIP

IT’S GETTING HOT IN HERE!

We’ve finally hit that time of year where winter starts to ease it grasp, and warmer, more favorable conditions are starting to arrive. Several months ago, we had gone over some Tips to get your car ready for winter, but did you know that you should de-winterize your ride? Now that we’re getting ready to hit the road for cruises and trips, here are a few easy steps to pull your car out of winter mode, and get it ready to roll:

Wash that thing – This is probably the most important thing you do coming out of winter, especially those of us in the northern areas of the country. Road salt that is added to road surfaces to melt ice and snow will wreak havoc on your car. The buildup of salt on your cars exterior will slowing leech away the paint, and will cause more vulnerable exposed metal parts to rust prematurely. While most of the time you may take your car to an automatic car wash, this is one time when a good had wash is essential. Wash

it well, and focus on the undercarriage, wheel wells, and other crevices where salt and road grim could build up and cause damage.

Check tires and alignment – Driving in the winter months can be very difficult on a car. If your like us and live here in Pennsylvania (Nationally known for having the worst roads in the country), driving through potholes, ruts, and anything else on the road can knock your cars alignment out of whack, damage tires, and even speed up the dry rot of tires due to the amount of road salt. Check air pressure and tires for any cuts or visible missing chunks.

Wiper blades – Wiper blades can take a beating during the winter. Running over frozen, snowy windows for extended periods of time can cause the bladed to start to tear. Check them out and change them proactively if you have any concerns, so they don’t tear completely off when you really need them.

Oil change – Some vehicles allow for different oil weights to be run in a cars engine, where a thinner oil can be run in the winter, and heavier, more standard oil in the summer. If you went with a thinner oil blend over the last 3 or months, now is the time to change it back.
