ONCE I PRESSED THE START BUTTON FOR THE FIRST TIME...
I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.
This is Twister, my 2021 Shelby GT500. I’ve always been a Mustang fan for many years and they’ve always been a part of our family. In the past I had a 2007 Saleen S302PJ in Grabber Orange and a 2017 Mustang GT in Grabber Blue. When my husband turned 50 he purchased a new 2020 Shelby GT350 in Grabber Lime so naturally when I turned 50, for my birthday, we ordered my 2021 GT500 and being we both like the bright colors, I knew Twister Orange was the color I had to have.
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!
Once the dealership pressed the order button for my car, the six weeks it took to come in seemed like an eternity. When I got the call that my car has finally arrived, I couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel of it and bring it home for good. As mentioned above, Mustangs are not new to our family, but once I pressed the start button for the first time and the 5.2L supercharged motor roared to life, I knew this one was going be special... and it is. Under my right foot it packs 760 hp with 625 ft torque and it’s all mated to a 7 speed DCT gearbox that is an absolute thrill to shift through the gears with the flick of a paddle as the Recaro seats hold me in place as I toss the car in and out of the curvy roads of western Pennsylvania. I love driving the car for pure excitement as it was meant to be. Taking it to local cruises, people seemed to be somewhat surprised to who the owner is, me, just a middle aged woman who has a passion for Mustangs, especially this one.
The STANG Mag family welcomed me in from the very start and made me feel like one of their own!
Twister is all stock mechanically but I did have it fully covered in XPel paint protection film. And yes, I do enjoy shining up the car myself as well and it always glistens in the sun. Owning Twister is like a child owning their own roller coaster and having the chance to ride it over and over again with the same smile that comes after every single ride. I don’t know what the future holds for what my next Mustang will be some day, but for now, I will be enjoying Twister for many years to come.
Members of the STANG Mag family are more passionate about fun and inclusion than they are their cars and that says a lot! I can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2022!
