MAGAZINE OCTOBER 2022
Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride! - Daniel Ramey, Editor-In-Chief

TALKING WITH TJ
As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew… got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff.
Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings together people from all walks of life. One thing is for sure though, the STANG Mag crew isn’t your typical crew. We are a bunch of weirdos, oddballs, and out casts. We party hard and live by our ride or die motto and have adventures like no other.
From partying in various spots all over the U.S., to touring some of America’s most haunted sites, to having my ass spanked by a beautiful Latina in Las Vegas in front of a restaurant packed full of guests (and owning it), it’s never a dull moment! All I can say is... strap in, rev the shit out of your motor, and let’s go!
YUENGLING BREWERY
Welcome back! This month STANG Magazine host ed the Yuengling Beer Peaky Blinders Tour and Ha noverville Road House Dinner. Yuengling is located in Pottsville, PA. D.G. Yuengling and Son Brewery was first started in 1829 and has now spanned six generations as well as having earned the title of America’s oldest brewery. Yuengling is 193 years old, which is quite a feat for any organization. This year we decided to do a Peaky Blinders theme. So, everyone had to dress up in Peaky Blinders attire or roaring 1920s speakeasy attire. Men came dressed in full suits and fedoras. Women came in lavish dresses with flapper headbands and cigarette holders. Inside we got to tour the old historic brewery and see the underground caves which was used to keep the beer cold and aide in aging the lager to help create that smooth and bold Yuengling flavor. The caves were

wet, damp, and cold which is the perfect natural environment to keep beer cool, especially in the olden days prior to refrigeration. In addition, we got special access into the old historic bar inside Yuengling, where the old employees would take their breaks and have a fresh Yuengling to wind down. dinner the tour continued to the famous haunted Hanoverville Roadhouse, which was established in 1825. The Hanoverville Roadhouse has been a post office, a general store, a brothel, and a biker bar. Inside the historic restaurant you are greeted with beautiful architecture of years gone by. I absolutely love it. Interestingly, there is an original 35 mm reel of poltergeist on display in the lounge. Holy crap, I mean, come on that movie is epic! Rumors report of JOKE OF THE

various spirits who haunt the grounds and various paranormal activity including restaurant items being moved and caught on camera. Definitely a must visit for anyone in the area. In addition, Canned Heat and Tiny Tim has performed here, making it a true piece of music history. I’m sure Tiny Tim tip toed through the tulips at the restaurant. Quite an interesting history. Now the current personality and owner of the restaurant is Mark Dennis. Trust me, this guy knows how to make a good drink. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and holy crap, has magic hands. The Long Islands were so smooth, yet you couldn’t tell there was alcohol in them and it was not because of lack thereof, but because of a perfect blend of alcohols.
It definitely got me feeling good. Also try his Zombie drink. WOW. Sweet but very smooth. The food was amazing, perfectly crafted crab cakes, steaks with juice just dripping out of the meat, the sides perfectly cooked with just the right of caramelization. Trust me, go here! You will not be disappointed, and while your there, give Mark a shout out!

I have loved Mustangs since I was in high school in the 1980s. During high school, my first Mustang was a 1979 Mustang GHIA. When Ford came out with the S197 model in 2005, I was instantly hooked and just had to have one! Three years later, I was finally able to purchase my 2008. I bought a base V6 automatic, with only five miles on it (which were my test drive miles) intending to utilize my three years’ worth of planning to make her into my own vision. I even named her Elvira.
I realized the new S197 had a whole aftermarket industry of modifications to acquire. Not only was there practically everything performance-wise you could think of, but also all forms of accessories and decals inside and out. I hit the ground running and have not looked back. I started with a BBK cold air intake that came in chrome with a blue filter. I didn’t plan on any color theme, but I thought it looked fantastic with the black, so I decided to theme all the mods in the

I’VE NEVER BEEN A ONE TYPE OF CAR PERSON. I JUST LIKE ANY THAT CATCH MY EYE.
When I was growing up one of my brother in law always had Mustangs around. Sometimes he would let me ride along and go cruising and scooping the loop in a small town near me. I remember him teaching me a bit on how to work on them and cleaning them before going cruising.
I’ve never been a one type of car person. I just like any that catch my eye. The shape, the color, the sounds.
One day my 1994 Mustang GT Convertible with the 5.0 HO came into the family. It got passed around a bit then the option came up for me to trade my 2013 Toyota Tacoma for her and I’ve been in love with her since.

MYPENNY IS A TRIBUTE CAR TO MY LATE WIFE PENNY LYNN INGRAM.
MyPenny is a tribute car to my late wife Penny Lynn Ingram. She passed away December 10, 2017 at the age of 51 from a long and hard battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Penny was the love of my life, my soul mate, and best friend and is very sorely missed every day that goes by. This Mustang was the last item we had purchased together before she passed away, however she never got to see it or ride in it as it arrived shortly after she passed. The V6 Mustang has gone through many upgrades since its arrival. The color
“Electric Pink” that is on the car now shows her personality in life and was her favorite color as well. The first thing to happen was I put in the 4.6 L V8 and supercharged it. With a tune and a run on the dyno,
MyPenny is now pushing just over 600 hp with 570 to the rear wheels. The drive shaft was upgraded as was the rear differential to handle the increased hp. I also added Ride Tech air suspension, Wilwood brakes, line lock, exhaust cutouts, and a custom exhaust. The interior is filled with carbon fiber and personal touches to add to the look and feel of the car.
MyPenny gets lots of track time, loves doing burnouts, and Autocrossing events and cruises with a cancer patient in the passenger seat most of the time. If you happen to see us out on the road or at an event in your area come over and say hi. Let me tell you all about The Pennies for Penny Foundation.

CODY PENNELL ROWDY S550–2015 RTR SPEC 5 THIS MUSTANG’S JOURNEY BEGAN AS A DAILY DRIVER IN 2014. THIS IDEA WAS TO STAY RELIABLE AND STOCK…
Mustang’s journey began as a daily driver in 2014. This idea was to stay reliable and stock… that didn’t last long. One night on the way home from a movie a C5 twin turbo Corvette absolutely blew our doors off and the fire was ignited. The call was made to ROUSH Performance and we added their supercharger kit, followed by porting and adding e85, and we landed in the 850 rwhp range. After the deaths of my mom and grandmother the Mustang became my way to fight back out of this dark time. My love for drifting since 2008 fueled the direction and we began the road of learning to drift in a 850 hp car (not advised). It was a tough road but with the family at Piedmont Drift I have enjoyed every minute. This car would not be possible without my main supporter Parker Performance located in New Port Richey, Florida, RTR vehicles for their kindness in letting me create this tribute, and my friend Tyler Nelson for his coaching and help building. SHELBY–2020 SHELBY
I THOUGHT MAYBE JUST MAYBE IF THE STARS ALIGN AND I’M IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME…. I COULD GET ONE.
I’ve always been a big fan and lover of Mustangs. My dad had 1964 in yellow. I bought my first car in 1981 and it was a 1974 Mustang. I sold it after only having it for a year. I always wanted to have another Mustang but it was just not practical. I got married, had four kids, and I just never could swing it. Skip ahead to 2012. I started getting the itch so I started looking. I
was looking for a gold one at first. Then in 2013, I was at a dealership looking for a car for my daughter and I saw a 2010 Grabber Blue GT. The more I looked at it, the more I liked it. I bought it that night. It was my work car.
In January of 2019, my wife and I went on a trip to Vegas. We toured the Shelby American facility. It was awesome to see all those Mustangs being transformed into Shelbys. I bought a Shelby Cobra key chain at the gift shop. I thought maybe just maybe if the stars align and I’m in the right place at the right time…. I could get one. Finally, at the end of December 2020 my wife and I were at a Ford dealership looking at a new vehicle for her and they had a Shelby on the

showroom floor. It was a white Heritage Edition. We went over and looked at it and I told my wife I would look good in it. She said, “I don’t care what you do as long as I get my new car.” That was all I needed to hear. My wife’s Expedition was going to be gray so I started looking in my local area for a gray one. I found one not for away and there was no dealer markup so I immediately went over and bought it.
This car is awesome. This thing really does cor ner like it’s on rails. I was able to do a track day at Ford Perfomance Racing School at Charlotte Motor Speedway and the cars that they provide is just exactly like the one I bought. I’m fortunate enough to have known Mr. Shelby. I live right down the road from Leesburg, Texas where he grew up.

IT ONLY HAD 139 HP BUT WITH 250 TORQUE AND AT ONLY 2700 LB IT WAS A LARGE DIFFERENCE IN HANDLING AND FUN TO DRIVE.
My name is Michael Campbell and this is my 1976 Mustang II Stallion 302 with four speed and I am the original owner. I bought her brand new on December 3, 1976. Mods include a four barrel carburetor, rear lights converted to all red, rear and side louvers, flip out side triangle windows, a red leather sport stallion wheel, and replaced a stolen grille with a running pony grille.
My first car was a 1968 Mustang Notch six cylinder automatic. I loved that car but as a 17 year old I needed a V8! So the search began after I turned 18 for that elusive combo of a sporty and V8. The choice came down to a Smokey and Bandit car in Paw Paw, MI and a Mustang II in Allegan, MI. I test drove the Pontiac and found it had a huge hood that seemed to stretch out half the car just too big and spongy; it had more HP but not enough for the extra 1000 lbs.
It weighed in at 3700 lbs, so it was not sporty enough. So off to Allegan to test the II. Wow what a difference!
It only had 139 HP but with 250 torque and at only 2700 lb it was a large difference in handling and fun to drive. Ford Motor Credit helped me drive my new Stallion home.

THE STALLION–1976 MUSTANG II
For 46 years this has been my fun summer stick shift Stallion! My wife Kristine and I were married in 1979 only a few months from paying off the Stallion which we used as our getaway car for our honeymoon for the two weeks spent in upper Michigan. Starting with a day on Machinaw Island while they were filming the movie “Somewhere in Time’’, then cruising across the Big Bridge to enjoy the next couple weeks touring the UP and all its wonders. The years roll on and the fun continues with a growing respect for the car that was determined to be the right car for the right time for Ford to continue the Mustang all the way through today. We have experienced so many fun years with our little Stallion which recently included joining in on the seventh generation presentation in Detroit. We brought our II as one of the five examples of the second generation, along with examples of each of the six generations asked to display Mustangs during the historic event. That Dark Horse sure is interesting! The Stallion will stay in our stable but maybe we will need to add another. See you on a cruise!

“JUST THE TIP
THAT’S ONE HARD ROD YOU GOT THERE.
In last month’s issue of Just The Tip, we discussed adjusting your car’s suspension when lowering the vehicle. There were many points to cover in that writeup, but one of the adjustments that was mentioned was the track bar. This is an important aspect of your car’s handling, so let’s dig into what a track bar is exactly.
A track bar is a lateral stabilizer bar that mounts one end to the rear axle assembly and the other to the frame of the car. Its purpose is to stop the rear axle from moving left or right under the body of the car when going through corners at a high rate of speed.
So how does it work you ask?
One end of the bar is bolted to the rear axle assembly and the other to the frame of the car; this lateral linkage will stop the rear end from moving horizontally under the car. {Sidebar: Mustangs prior to 2005 did not come equipped with a track bar from the
factory but aftermarket upgrade kits are available. The Pre-’05 Mustangs were equipped with trailing arms to keep the axle in line. The track bar is a huge improvement for the Pre-’05; consider the aftermarket kit as an investment.}
The track bar needs adjustment when you lower your car because before the car is lowered it is riding at a set height and your rear axle is for that height. When you lower the car, the axle is not moving but the car is; as the car is lowered closer to the axle, it pushes down on the track bar which stays at a fixed length, which moves the rear axle slightly out from under the car. If you’ve ever watched a NASCAR race (and who hasn’t), you’ve seen the crews dropping a long adjuster into a port in the rear window during a pit stop and adjusting the track bar.
In the case of a Stock Car, the one end of the track bar is not mounted directly to the car frame, but rather to a threaded screw that is mounted to the frame; as the
screw is adjusted up or down, it moves the track bar in relation to the cars frame, which moves the rear axle assembly left or right under the body of the car to adjust its handling.
For street applications, you want to keep your axle centered under the body (unless your ‘street application’ is driving laps around Daytona at 200+
MPH). If you lower your car, check the rear axle alignment with the cars weight on the back wheels, and adjust the track bar left or right until you have equal clearance between the tire and wheel well on both sides of the car. It will make for a massive difference in the handling of your ride!
