UniAEN provides an upgrade path which enables existing AEN2 / 3 paging systems, and Minder staff protection to integrate with the wider Unicare application, enhancing functionality. But UniAEN can also run as a standalone replacement for AEN2 Master, AEN3 paging administration software, or Minder staff protection. Where intersite couplers are employed, UniSIP (sound over IP) may be used to replace these units, enabling voice messaging to be sent across a LAN / WAN, provided that the quality of service (QOS) is available.

UniAEN replaces either the AEN2 Master, AEN3, or Minder

UniAEN polls the AEN2 slaves, checking if there are any messages for UniAEN. When a slave replies with a message, UniAEN will check if the requested pagers are in in the charging rack. If the pager is not in the rack, the message is sent to the code generator, and on to the transmitter. The following serial devices can be connected to the aquarius network… • • • • • • • • • • • • •

UniAEN Setup

Stanley Security Solutions - Unicare Installation & Configuration - Issue 1 - Day 1 Session 2

6

UniAEN – Setup: COM Settings

COM Port: Set the PC COM port to which the Aquarius system is connected. TO timer: Maximum wait time after a poll (in milli seconds) T1 timer: Wait time after a poll (after poll result) (in milli seconds) (Recommend that T0 and T1 timer settings are left at default) Default Coding format: 1st digit : (A)nalog or (D)igital 2nd digit : A, B or C format A paging call begins with 1.2 sec of preamble to ‘wake up’ the mobile. This is followed by… Format A = 2 frames;

Format B = 3 frames

Format C = 1 frame

DC is the usual format for UK installations (Note: P2 & P5 are for future use) Default Keying sequence: Sets the keying pattern for the code generators where multiple transmitters are employed. Prevents all transmitters going live simultaneously. Tone priorities: _ means ‘every tone’. Thus, ‘1_’ means, tone 1 first. ‘_A’ means every tone first, tone A last. Sort equal tone priorities: Most requested first, or oldest first. 3 digit Minder mobile prefix: Sets the first three digits of the pagers. Number of Minder slots: The number of Minder pagers required to poll.

UniAEN – Setup: Serial Devices

This screen displays the status of the slave devices. Green = Responding Red = Not responding Blue = Polling Yellow = Device not present The tick boxes enable / disable the devices. The magnifier icon opens up the editor screen (below). Here you select the type of device from the drop down list. The Device number relates to the device address (set using Peripheral Programmer).

8

UniAEN – Setup: Telephone Interface

Note: To apply changes, click OK before Apply

Pager prefix: Common prefix of all pagers Digit translation: These digits are translated by the PBX‌ T: type (1 = Data call; 2 = Speech call) P: pager number D: dialing information (this is usually the telephone number the paged person is to call). M: preset message number B: tone code Default bleep: Set the default bleep tone (factory setting = 0). Default message no: Set the default message. Speech mode digit: If the PBX detects a 2 in the T translation, UniAEN is informed that this is a speechcall. Bleep translation: The operator may select a bleep tone other than the default. For example, if position 0 is replaced with a 2 (i.e., 212345678), dialing 0 causes tonecode 2 to be used. This feature is not often required in UK hospitals.

UniAEN – Setup: Telephone Interface The examples below show some Digit Translations, with their respective results, for the setup shown here.

Example 1: Digit Translation = PPPDDDD

Bleep Translation = 1234567

Result: Message 1 = ‘Call’ (default) (See slide ‘Pre-defined messages’ ); text ”4567” to pager 12123, Bleep tone = 0 (default). Example 2: Digit translation = MPPPDDDD

Bleep translation = 21234567

Result: Message 2 = ‘Assistance Required’ ; text “4567” to pager 12123, Bleep tone = 0 (default). Example 3: Digit translation = TPPPDDD

Bleep translation = 2123456

Result: Message 1 (default) = ‘Call’ ; Speech Call; text “456” to pager 12123, Bleep tone = 0 (default).

UniAEN – Setup: IP Comms Settings

1

2

1) In instances where UniAEN is being used in conjunction with the wider Unicare applications, the Port must be the same as that set in Central (see screen below). This is normally Port 12004. Where UniAEN is being used standalone, it would be good practice to use Port 12004, in case the system was expanded at a later date. The Use IP Server port box must be checked. Make certain that the Port state is shown as Opened. If not, check firewall settings, etc. 2) The Univos gateway is not used. The Use Univos gateway box must be left unchecked. The other settings may be left blank.

Central: The default port setting is 12004

12

UniAEN – Setup: Peer UniAEN/UniSIP settings

1

2 3

Important: On a site that has incoming speech calls only, the two tick boxes must be left unchecked

UniSIP Configuration (at any site that has outgoing data or speech messages): Note that, although this screen refers to UniSIP, this feature can be used to carbon copy Aquarius paging calls to another (remote) PC that has Aquarius hardware attached. 1) Check the box Carbon copy page calls to UniAEN. The Peer IP host address is the IP address of the remote PC (to which calls are to be sent). The Peer IP port must be the same as that set in Central (12004 default). 2) Check the box Trigger UniSIP when executing speech calls. The UniSIP public service IP address is set at 127.0.0.1 The UniSIP public service port is set at 3001 The SIP URL to connect to is the IP address of the remote PC. (Note: At any site where only local calls are required, leave these check boxes clear) 3) Pressing the Test SIP Activate button should create a UniSIP connection with the remote site. This can be verified by having someone monitor the UniSIP screen at the remote site, and watch for the connection dialogue to scroll each time Activate / Deactivate is pressed (see screen shot below). Whilst a test connection is made, any audio played on one PC should be heard on the other PC. This can be a useful way of proving the UniSIP audio link.

3 5 6

4

1) The default setting for this screen is Use no pager configuration, and simply allows all calls to go out, but does not provide any facility to store pager information. The pager details are held in C:\Univos\ntvos.gdb. 2) If the Use local pager configuration option is selected, the user is able to add information relating to the pager’ s user. Also the pager details are stored in a file named Lpagers.dat, which is usually found in either the Univos or the UniAEN folder. Using this file, it is possible to import an AEN3 database into Lpagers.dat format, and then copy it directly into UniAEN. 3) If you wish to enable the pager information screen, but only wish to send calls to individual pagers; to avoid having to define every pager, select the Only define group pagers, accept all paging requests box. Now, all paging calls will be sent as before, but you are able to make use of the information fields for specific pagers by defining those pagers. 4) To define a pager, click Add. 5) Enter the IC number and click OK. 6) To enter a batch of pagers simultaneously, before step 4), set the #Pagers to the number of pagers that you wish to add. For example, setting #Pagers to 10 and entering the number 12301 would create a list of pagers between 12301 and 12310.
