Welcome
to the Principality of Monaco and to a weekend of triathlon fun! This Race Guide is an addition to the Online Race Briefing that has already been sent out. Should you have any questions, please come see our team at the Information booth at the Larvotto!
2 2km A land of enchantment located on
the edge of the Mediterranean, the Principality of Monaco stretches over an area of 2km2 , 40 hectares of which is reclaimed land from the sea. Monaco extends along a narrow strip, 4km long, between the French and Italian Riviera and enjoys a privileged climate throughout the year.
The Formula 1 of Triathlons
TriStar111 Monaco features a 1km swim in the clear Mediterranean on the Larvotto beach, followed by a breathtaking bike leg of 100km across picturesque, typical villages of the hinterland of Nice with unbelievable views. The most stunning part, though, is the 10km run along the original Formula 1 circuit in the heart of the Principality on the Côte d’Azur. Enjoy every second as you run through the Portier roundabout, the famous Tunnel, along the yacht harbour, around Rascasse, before turning at Sainte Devote to the steep climb up the Avenue d’Ostende to reach Avenue de Monte Carlo at the Foot of the Hotel de Paris. Keep your eyes open as you continue for the first time in history - across the majestic Place du Casino, past the front of Café de Paris and change gears running downhill along the hairpin bends of Monaco before going on the second loop. Thank you for choosing TriStar111 Monaco and for proving that you’re up to brand new challenges. The unique TriStar circuit has been invented for you and you should spend an unforgettable time in the Principality of Monaco at the most exclusive Triathlon in Europe. Yes, you can!

A dynamic and diversified economy
At a very early stage, the Principality chose to distinguish itself through the quality of its amenities. Such dynamics have resulted in economic growth, as well as attracting investors, entrepreneurs and a qualified workforce to the Principality. Today, Monaco provides over 44.000 jobs (public and private) for 32.000 inhabitants. Every day, 28.000 French and 6.000 Italians come into Monaco for work.
Prince’s Palace and change of Guard
The Prince’s Palace is located at the summit of the Rock in the Old Town of Monte Carlo. It is the official residence of Prince Albert II, the head of state, Monaco. It is also one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Monte Carlo. The area around the Prince’s Palace has a breathtaking and spectacular view of Monte Carlo harbor and marina. The daily changing of guards is held outside the Prince’s Palace at 11:55 sharp. While you are on the Rock, enjoy a quiet lunch in one of the many restaurants in the numerous narrow streets of peaceful “Old Town”.

Team Relay Challenge Useful info for Relay competitors
Teams of two or three competitors will participate in the Team Relay Challenge at TriStar111 Monaco! The Teams will do the exact same course as individual competitors. Here is the relevant information for Relay competitors Start of the race is 8:15, 15min after the individuals (you are allowed to make up time!) Cutoff Times: Swim: 45min (9:00) Swim + Bike: 5h15 (13:30) Swim + Bike + Run: 7h15 (15:30) The timing chip is the relay baton which has to be passed on from one team member to the next in the dedicated RELAY ZONE between the bike park and the transition area. Locals call this place “La Rose de Vents”. Relay members are identified by their different swimcap color and blue race numbers. The Swimmer has to cover the same distance as individual athletes. This means he will run through the changing tent (without changing, of course!) before running up the ramp to the Relay Zone. Females are allowed to put on Make-Up in the transition tent before running through the public to the Relay Zone. Relay members have to cross each timing mat in order to be ranked - just like the individual competitors. Relay competitors are encouraged to finish the race as a TEAM. Team members that do not RUN the 10km can wait for their runner in a dedicated RELAY MEETING AREA at the beginning of the finish line to join their runner for the finish photo, the hugs, smiles and the instant party right after the finish line!
Pierre Frolla and Stéphane Mifsud formed a team with Benoît Z and will have a day full of sport and fun in Monaco!
