Without strong content, you can’t do anything: Akshaye Akshaye Khanna is a man of few words and believes his hard work would rather do the talking. The actor says what makes you stand out is the strong content of your film. “No matter how good an actor you are, if you don’t have a strong content, you can’t do anything. And even if you are a very bad actor and if you have solid content, you will manage to do something. That’s the point,” said Akshaye, who has been in the industry for the past 15 years. The actor, who started off as a main stream actor with Himalay Putra in 1997, has proved his versatility with films like Taal, Dil Chahta Hai and Gandhi My Father. Many of his films didn’t do well at the box ofifce, but the actor is unperturbed and believes in picking up only those films with strong content. You don’t sign too many films so, what keeps you busy? “Normal things. I sleep a lot. I am a great sleeper. I can sleep for 13 to 14 hours and that keeps me busy. I also love to do gardening,” he said. “I don’t like to go to parties...I am not that kind of a person. I don’t enjoy partying. I would

The 36-year-old is ready for his first release of the year, Gali Gali Chor Hai, which is about corruption and the plot revolves around a common man. “The story is about a common man who gets stuck in the system. It’s a simple story of a common man who works in a bank and gets stuck in the system and what happens to him is the story all about. It sounds depressing, but it’s a hilarious film,” he said.

“In the film, I am the person who is trying to get out but can’t. My character keeps paying, paying, and paying and he reaches a point where he has to sell his house. Wife leaves him. He is destroyed totally.” The film is said to be inspired by 1994 “Laadla”, which had Sridevi, Anil Kapoor and Raveena Tandon in the lead role. Akshaye has teamed up with Mugdha Godse and Shriya Saran in “Gali Gali Chor Hai”, which is coming out Feb 3.

HARPER GOVERNMENT INVESTS IN BURLINGTON’S ECONOMY AND JOBS Mike Wallace, Member of Parliament for Burlington, on behalf of the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, today announced that the Government of Canada is undertaking a significant rehabilitation and maintenance

project on the Burlington Lift Bridge, as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan. “The Burlington Lift Bridge is a critical part of regional, provincial and national infrastructure, serving thousands of Canadians daily, and providing substantial local and regional benefits,” Mr.

Wallace said. “This project will replace the components that control the lift system of the bridge, ensuring the continued safety and functionality of this important transportation link.” “The top priority of our Government remains the economy,” said Minister Ambrose. “Through our

investments in public infrastructure, we are not only creating jobs across the country but also ensuring safe access to these structures for the public.” The four-lane Burlington Lift Bridge, completed in 1962, spans the Burlington Bay Canal, which connects Lake Ontario to the Port of Hamilton. In addition to providing a highway link between Burlington and Hamilton for thousands of commuters a day, the lift function of the bridge allows commercial marine traffic to move freely from Lake Ontario to thePort of Hamilton. The bridge is also used by cyclists and pedestrians and is a designated provincial emergency response route. The major electrical systems that control the lift function of the bridge are near the end of their service life. As a result, the drive motors, bridge control systems and wiring systems will be replaced. Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) will be conducting a fair, open and transparent process for selecting contractors to undertake the project. The process will be conducted through the Government Electronic Tendering System (MERX). The design contract is expected to be awarded in early February. When the design work is completed, PWGSC will post a Request for Proposals for a contractor to complete the rehabilitation and maintenance work.

Ekta Kapoor Show adopts Guess which water Salman social cause Khan trusts?

Ekta Kapoor has taken up a cause. Over the next few weeks, the producer will be using her TV show, Bade Acche Lagte Hain, as a tool to spread awareness about breast cancer. Highlighting the illness, Ekta will kick off a three weeklong emotional track as part of the big-ticket TV show starring Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. “As a woman, it’s an important initiative. We have such a large population and TV reaches out to so many people. So clearly, a lot of knowledge can reach viewers through the small screen,” says Ekta. Interestingly, her ‘awareness’ plan will also bring the onscreen couple closer. “The track will concern just the hero and heroine. We are going to use this to hit the highest dramatic point in the show. It will either start by the end of this week or some time next week,” she says, adding that it’s not only the TRPs that matter. “As a professional, I will

chase TRPs, but I would be worth nothing if I don’t use my position or ability to reach out to so many people for good. It’s an initiative I have taken up late, but definitely, I shouldn’t back out now.” Ask Ekta what really prompted her to take up the cause and she says, “A lot of women, in general, have been talking about it. Let’s just say that I

have realised the importance of regular check-ups.” The Dirty Picture producer also adds that if diagnosed well in advance, breast cancer can be controlled and treated. Due to lack of knowledge and awareness, many people discover it late. “It’s our responsibility to make women and audiences from various walks of, aware of its dangers,” she says.

SRK to host Colors Screen Awards Actor Shah Rukh Khan will soon be seen on stage with a bevy of Bollywood beauties, enthralling the audience with his witty lines as he hosts a popular awards ceremony, later this month. and do what he does best... mesmerise the audience with

his eloquence and inimitable comic timing. Balan, who has of late been only seen in her trademark red saris, and even known to prefer hosting award ceremonies in her silk saris, will finally shed the six yard fabric and don a raapchik costume. She will be seen wooing the audience with her thumkas, latkas and matkas from her hit song, Ooh La La.

We all love the Dabaang Salman Khan. After Bigg Boss 5, and the recent success of his films Sallu miya’s ranking and popularity has increased several fold. Salman Khan is the undisputed King of Bollywood or Bollywood Badshah as he is referred to by many. Besides a very rigorous fitness routine, Salman Khan maintains a strict diet. And guess which water the macho Khan or bhai trusts? One of the brands that Salman swears by is Mulshi Springs. Mulshi Springs natural spring water is the only internationally certified natural spring water from India. Salman only counts on Mulshi Springs to rejuvenate and rehydrate his system. Hanging around the sets of Bigg Boss 5, we noticed one

constant in bhai’s routine – his bottle of Mulshi Springs natural spring water. Well must say, Mulshi Springs must be really proud to have such a loyal fan. We asked Naveen Luthra of Mulshi Springs what he thought about Sallu’s love for his ‘special water’. Pat came the reply, “I did not know

Salman Khan is so fond of Mulshi Springs – natural spring water. If I did know earlier, I would have sent him a complimentary year’s supply. Henceforth, I will ask my guys to make sure that Salman has the water delivered to his house or on the sets of his films.” Futuristic Media

Priyanka Chopra: ‘I could Preity Zinta parties with Winfrey, have been Chikni Chameli’ returns with dented car A couple of months ago, it was reported that Priyanka Chopra’s character (Kaali) in the Agneepath remake was the size of a cameo. Co-writer Ila Bedi Datta stated it was longer. Now, the actor admits she doesn’t have a lengthy part, but it was meaty enough for her to sink her teeth into. “It’s small but not inconsequential. Kaali lives for Vijay and his happiness. She’s ready to fight life’s situations with a smile for him,” says Priyanka, adding, “Everyone knows it’s basically a revenge story between Vijay and Kancha Cheena. So, naturally, I couldn’t become the focus of the plot. Kaali is important for the story to move further. She’s not a decorative item in the movie.” Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif’s item number ‘Chikni chameli...’ adapted from the famous Marathi song ‘Kombdi padali...’has become one of the most watched songs on the Internet and across TV channels. Didn’t it pinch her that the chartbuster was picturised on another actor and has more visibility than her songs? “We were all praying that Katrina takes it up. It’s worked so well for the promotions. It’s another story that if I hadn’t been Kaali, I could have been Chikni Chameli. Who wouldn’t want to take up a dance number like that?” Last month, after Don 2 released, several critics and audience members felt that her role in

the movie wasn’t too effective, although she’d maintained all along that her character, Roma, was essential to the plot. Bring this up, and Priyanka says, “No one realised that my role was much longer in Don 2 than in Don. Back then I was a newbie and no one expected much out of me. But this time, they wanted me to be in every frame of the film, which is not possible because the film is not Roma, it’s Don.”

No acting for my daughter Trishala – Sanjay Dutt

When it comes to his daughter Trishala, Sanjay Dutt is a very protective father. He does not want her in showbiz. The 22-year-old was interested in acting but Sanjay didn’t back her. “Absolutely true and underline it 500 times,” said Sanjay, about his opposition. “If somebody says give me the reason, I am going to show my finger because she is my daughter.” Trishala is from Sanjay’s first wife Richa Sharma, who was an actress and died of cancer. The 51-year-old Sanjay, now married to Manyata from whom he has twins, believes women have to struggle a lot in the film industry and he doesn’t want his daughter to face all this. “If you want the reason, my father (Sunil Dutt) never wanted any female from my family to join the film industry. Not because film industry is a bad place for woman, not because film industry is taboo in the country, only because it’s a huge struggle for women.

Being the oldest in the family I can’t give up that legacy,” said Sanjay, whose mother Nargis was a top notch actress of the 1950s and 1960s. This restriction is not only imposed on his daughter, but his nieces are kept away from the arclight. “My sisters would have also come… even their daughters, who are so pretty, could also have come,” he said.

Unfortunately, he didn’t spend some quality time in her childhood days with Trishala, who was raised by her maternal grand parents in the US. “I have never seen the aspect of fatherhood with Trishala. That’s a sad thing and my bad luck. I feel sad for her. Anyways that was my bad luck. I wish I could spend all those moments with her also. Nonetheless, we will make up.”

Heartiest Congratulations dear Krishna and Hardik Rathod on your wedding. Wishing both of you a world of happiness and joy forever. From all the staff and management of StarBuzz Media, Tia, Meena and Bhupinder Virdi.

Kaafirana will be your Munni: Farah Actor Chitrangada Singh, recently seen on the big screen in her first completely commercial role in Desi Boyz, along with actors Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, hopes the year 2012 turns out to be a year full of surprises. Married to golfer Jyoti Randhawa, the 35-year-old juggles between Mumbai and Delhi and will soon be seen in an upcoming episode of Super Star Santa on UTV Stars. The actor talks about her upcoming Bollywood projects and her item song Kaafirana in Shirish Kunder’s film Joker. On item song Kaafirana I love dancing. It was so much fun and hardwork working on Kaafirana. Farah even told me that ‘I am gifting you your Munni’. The choreography is really very sensuous. On Delhi Vs Mumbai I love Mumbai as far as work is concerned but when it’s time to relax then it is Delhi, where my family is. I don’t think it is difficult to manage once your priorities are fixed. On rejecting Haasan’s film There were date issues so I was unable to take up Kamal Haasan’s film. It is completely my loss. It was something that I could not have worked around. On playing Santa

It was great to bring together Nishant and his elder sister Trupti, who were not on talking terms. I was nervous but the entire experience was very satisfying. On upcoming projects I, Me Aur Mein in which I star

with John Abraham revolves around relationships. Then there is Inkaar with Arjun Rampal, in which I play a victim of sexual harassment.

Kareena-Imran to pair up again! Actors Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor come together on the big screen for the first time in Karan Johar’s Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. And though the Shakun Batra film is yet to release, Karan is already in talks with Imran and Kareena to cast them in another film. “A lot of filmmakers have approached them for new ventures together,” says an insider from the film unit. Offers may be pouring in, but Karan has made it clear that the duo will first be roped in for another Dharma Production before anything else. Insiders insist that the producer has a few youthful romantic subjects that he wants to discuss with the pair, before they consider other offers. If things go as planned, the new film might go on the floors by the end of this year. When contacted, Imran confirms the latest development. “Yes, Karan, Kareena and I are chatting about a (new) film. We have fantastic chemistry in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and that’s probably why several people have appreciated us. It has also resulted in a lot of interest

in us as an on-screen pair. But it’s too early to talk about it (the new film).” The pairing has stirred up some debate over who will be the next popular on-screen couple, in the tradition of Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol, or Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh. And here, Imran has an advantage over industry rival Ranbir Kapoor, who is Kareena’s cousin and can’t be paired opposite her as a romantic lead. Ask the young Khan

about the so-called advantage and he laughs, “Yes, I do have an ‘edge’ over Ranbir in a way. It’s quite obvious that he can’t be paired opposite his cousin.” Ranbir and Imran’s career graphs have been compared to one another right from their debut films — Saawariya (2007) and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) respectively. Reports also claim that the actors’ friendship has been strained over the last few years.

As far as comparison goes with the original, he is unperturbed. “I don’t want to do remakes only. My premise is that I should not do remakes. Earlier, I didn’t even want to hear about it. Now at least I will hear it,” said Hrtihik in an interview. Filmmaker Karan Johar decided to give a makeover to his dad Yash Johar’s 1990 production venture “Agneepath”, in which Amitabh Bachchan gave one of his best performances as Vijay Deenanath Chahuhan and won a national award. Karan roped in Hrihik to play the protagonist and with “Agneepath” ready to hit screens Jan 26, expectations are high and people are likely to compare Hrithik with Amitabh. But he is unruffled and believes that “if you do something in your own way, in your individual way, then it will stand out. People will not compare.” The 38-year-old’s performance was critically acclaimed in films like “Jodhaa Akbar” and “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” and he even gave blockbusters like “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai”, “Krrish” and “Dhoom 2″.

Despite having such an impressive body of work, he says he can’t “act”. He said: “My premise is that I can only act well if I am in that character. I have to know everything about my character. If I am not living it, then I can’t act. If you ask me to imitate or act, I can’t do it. Others can because they have that talent. I can’t act, so I am bad actor.” The new age Vijay Deenanath Chahuhan says shooting for the climax, which is full of blood and gore, was the most difficult part of the movie, helmed by first-time director Karan Malhotra, a former

assistant of Karan Johar. “The climax was shot in Diu and throughout I had to fight with Sanjay Dutt with a bare and bleeding body and the shoot went on for 22 days. It ended up being the toughest schedule of my life,” said Hrithik. “Karan Johar being a friend forced me and asked me to read the script. When I read the script I was shocked. As an actor it touched me. I was defenceless. I had no reason to say no,” said the actor who has teamed up with Priyanka Chopra in the movie.

too.” The award function has sent cyberspace buzzing. Fans say Shah Rukh mustered

camp with her rustic Chikni Chameli act in Agneepath. Shah Rukh will be seen romancing Katrina in a Yash

annual Colors Screen Awards. SRK took to the Twitter to express his excitement: “Too much fun with Vidya.. M a d h u r i .. K a t r i n a ... S a ji d . Hope the audience enjoys it

the courage for the act only because Katrina is no more his rival Salman Khan’s girlfriend. She has also purportedly joined the Karan Johar

Raj Film, which insiders say is a sign that the two now share a good rapport.

Markham’s 39th Annual Tony Roman 1st Test: Pakistan 42/0 in reply Memorial Hockey Tournament to England’s 192 on Day 1

Markham’s annual Tony Roman Memorial Hockey Tournament, starts with an official puck drop at Thornhill Community Centre on Saturday, January 14 and runs to Sunday, January 22. “We have been proudly carrying on this tradition for the past 39 years. It is a wonderful tribute to our late Mayor, Tony Roman, who contributed so much to our community. Tony loved hockey and our community has always provided tremendous support to continue this legacy,” said Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti. “These games give young hockey enthusiasts an opportunity to experience the thrill of playing tournament hockey, as they come together in the spirit of friendly competition and community pride.” “It’s always such a thrill to see these young athletes play in what, for many, is their first tournament. During the nine days of hockey, Markham players compete on ice surfaces in eight community centres – Angus Glen, Centennial, R.J. Clatworthy, Crosby, Milliken

Mills, Mount Joy, Markham Village, and Thornhill. We want to thank our three minor hockey associations, Markham, our corporate partners and the many volunteers who support this extraordinary event,” said Honorary Tournament Chair Regional Councillor Gordon Landon. This year’s competition features over 2,000 young hockey players – from Mini Mite (age 4) to Juvenile (age 20) – on 143 local teams participating in 258 games at eight Markham arenas. Known

as the world’s largest house league hockey competition, it’s a great opportunity to see some of Markham’s up-and-coming hockey talent in action. Established as the ‘Mayor’s Cup’ competition by former Markham Mayor Anthony Roman, the Tony Roman Memorial Hockey Tournament was renamed in his honour following his death in 1992. Games are played in Markham’s arenas and are free of charge. To view game schedules and locations visit www.tchl.org/tr.

Rohit Sharma or VVS Laxman? Guessing game begins

The highlight of Team India’s nets at the WACA on Tuesday was the long batting stints given to Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha as well as VVS Laxman.

batting stints. However, with Laxman also spending a long time in the nets, the situation became confusing. In spite of criticism back home, the team

It sent out contrasting signals even as a majority of the other players, including the suspended as well as standin captains, went through the motions on what was the final day of the third Test match. Saha getting two shots at batting was understandable as he will take Dhoni’s place in the playing XI in the final Test. The ‘banned’ Dhoni himself bowled to Saha along with other bowlers in the nets as coach Duncan Fletcher kept a close watch on the reserve wicketkeeper-batsman. Fletcher also had a one-on-one with Saha in-between his two

management has quietly stood behind Laxman. With Dhoni announcing that the seniors would only be phased out gradually, there is a chance that Laxman may be given a final chance to bow out in glory. Whatever be the thinking in the dressing room, it needs to be made clear, particularly to Rohit, who should not be pushed in at the last moment for that could well ruin his debut. All eyes were on Sachin Tendulkar when the Little Master batted against netbowlers for a change. Sachin

was seen guiding Pagyan Ojha, giving him a few tips. After he had finished his stint in the nets, Sachin was seen giving local boy Scott Ogilvie a demonstration in how to bowl the googly. The 30-year-old leg-spinner is a Grade I player and had sought the Master’s guidance.

Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal took a career-best seven wicket haul to destroy England’s much vaunted batting line-up on the opening day of the first Test on Tuesday. Scorecard The 34-year-old, whose claims of a mystery delivery surrounded the lead-up to the three-Test series, had figures of 7-55 which wrecked England to 192 all out on a slow turning pitch at the Dubai Stadium. In reply Pakistan finished on 42/0, with openers Mohammad Hafeez (22) and Taufiq Umar (18) unbeaten. They trail by 150 runs with all ten wickets intact. Ajmal, whose previous best of 6/42 came against the West Indies at Guyana last year, bowled with variety, unleashing a straight delivery bowled with a round-arm action which kept low, seemingly his mystery one he named ‘teesra’ (the third one). His superb bowling kept rival batsmen guessing and destroyed England’s hopes of a sound start, watched by a pawltry crowd of 1500. Only wicket-keeper batsman Matt Prior batted with defiance, scoring a brilliant 70 not out for his 19th halfcentury. This was England’s lowest total in the last ten Tests since Australia bowled them out for 123 at Perth in 2010. Ajmal dismissed Andrew Strauss (19) with the last delivery of his first over, the 19th of the innings, and then had Ian Bell (nought) out with the first ball of his next, before

trapping Kevin Pietersen (two) leg before three balls later. England went to lunch at a precarious 52-5. Prior then added 39 for the sixth wicket with Eoin Morgan (24) before Ajmal struck again, dismissing Morgan and then Broad (eight) -- both leg-before off miscued sweeps. Prior then ensured England reached 130 - their lowest in a Test against Pakistan on two occasions - by adding a fighting 57 for the eighth wicket with Graeme Swann (34) before Ajmal took the last two of the three wickets. Pakistan played two frontline spinners in Ajmal and leftarmer Abdul Rehman, with Hafeez giving them an extra option of spin. England may be regretting their decision to leave out the in-form Monty Panesar and play three seamers alongside off-spinner Graeme Swann.

Pakistan introduced spin as early as the sixth over through Hafeez, who was rewarded when England opener Alastair Cook edged his third delivery to wicket-keeper Adnan Akmal for just three. Paceman Aizaz Cheema then dismissed Jonathan Trott (17), caught behind by a diving Adnan off a leg-side edge to leave England at 31-2. Ajmal then bowled Strauss who went for a pull but missed the ball and lost his off-stump. Bell was then caught behind off a straight delivery from Ajmal. Pietersen survived a confident lbw appeal but was given out after Pakistan challenged the original decision. Adnan, who took three catches behind the stumps, fumbled on two occasions, failing to stump Morgan when the batsman was three and dropped Swann on eight -- both off Ajmal.

If you are planning to watch the new “Agneepath”, get ready to take a peek at as many as five forthcoming movies as the trailers of “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu”, “Talaash”, “Rowdy

Rathore”, “Agent Vinod” and “Tezz” will release alongside the Hrithik Roshan-starrer when it comes out Jan 26. “Attaching trailers to big releases is effective due to the eyeballs the weekend generates, and in this case, it’s a long weekend due to the Republic Day holiday. But it

can only be leveraged if there is exhibitor’s support,” the film’s producer Karan Johar said in a statement. Sunil Punjabi, CEO, Cinemax India Ltd, points out that over the last three

months “Agneepath” has built up consumer expectations. Therefore, he feels it is the right platform for these movies to showcase their first looks as they will be able to reach out to a wider audiences. “The marketing team is following the Big Bang theory, hit as many eyeballs as you can at the

same time,” said Punjabi. It is being said that Saif Ali Khan and Venus are paying theatres to screen trailers of “Agent Vinod” and “Tezz”. Punjabi supports the trend

as he feels it provides a good business opportunity. Directed by Karan Malhotra, “Agneepath” is the remake of the 1990 film which was directed by Mukul Anand and produced by late filmmaker Yash Johar, whose son Karan Johar has made the new version.

Kiran Rao’s directorial debut Dhobi Ghat featured in the BAFTA Longlist in Film Not in the English Language category, but it has failed to make it to the top five list for the prestigious international award. Set in Mumbai during the monsoon season, the movie

revolves around intertwined lives of Aamir Khan (Arun in the lead role), Monica Dogra (NRI girl Shai) and Prateik (washerboy Munna). The longlist is the result of round one of voting by members of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts members. It lists 15 contenders in each category, which are reduced to five for the final nominations. The five films which will vie for the best foreign language film include Incendies

(Canada), Pina (Germany), Potiche (France), A Separation (Iran) and The Skin I Live In (Spain). AamirDhobi Ghat was produced by Aamir, who is known for keeping away from Indian award functions. But his films have been nominated for various international honours. His debut production Lagaan was among the best foreign film Oscar nominations in 2002, but it failed to win the golden

statuette. His acting project Rang De Basanti, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, was in top five nominations for best foreign language film category at BAFTA in 2007, but it lost the title to to Mexican film Pan’s Labyrinth. The nominations for the BAFTA awards were announced in London early Tuesday morning. The presentation ceremony is to be held Feb 24.

LIFE STYLE & RECIPE

Self-Talk Shweta Nagpurkar

Accredited Trainer, Corporate Psychologist & Writer shwetan@mindmirrorindia.com We, Humans, talk to ourselves more than we talk to anybody else in our lifetime. So now you see how important is this Self-Talk! To start with, what is self-talk? It is the communication of the individuals with their own self. Also called as Intrapersonal Communication. It includes thinking/ belief formation/ interpretation of situations within us. Let me give you an example here, we have always read that it is better to say, “The glass is half filled rather than saying the glass is half empty”. Fair enough, but what if the half filled glass is full of filthy water in it. Will it be of use in any way? No. And even if you pour clean water to fill it……. will it be of any help? No. Thus, what you need to first do is throw away the filthy water, clean the glass and then pour the fresh and clean water in it. Simple! Let us say that the glass here represents Human Mind, and then clearly, filthy water is your pessimistic thinking and emotions. Thus, first we need to clean our mind, improvise our mental habits and only then you can successfully create a ‘Positive Self’! Start following IAC model in the self-talk which simply means: 1] Identify- One needs to carefully pay attention, recognize and accept the existence of his/ her self-talk. Denial will surely be of no good. Thus, consciously

identifying the pattern and nature of your self-talk is the first step. 2] Assess- Once you identify the nature and frequency of your self-talk then comes the analysis/ assessment of it. It is You who needs to assess the importance of self-talk/ the role it plays in your life and in the self-image, whether

it is pessimistic/ optimistic in most of your waking time. 3] Change- After the assessment is needed the ‘consistent change’. If your self-talk is optimistic make sure you keep enhancing it and if it is pessimistic then surely you have a bit more work to do on it. Tips on Self-Talk: • Now that you are willing to give a positive touch to this area of life, start noting down the statements/ topics you talk to yourself frequently, write them down. You may agree or disagree/ like or dislike some or most of the statements but still putting them all on the paper is important. • After stating them, segregate them as to positive/ negative/ related to specific situation/ relationship/ place etc. • Analyze whether they are self-bullying or self-labeling. • If they are usually pessimistic in nature, try neutralizing them first. Do not hurry to transform your negative thoughts to positive thoughts, you might fail in doing so or take more time than needed.

Rather, try transforming negative self-talk (I always loose, Nothing good can ever happen to me, Nobody loves me etc) to neutral (Things are not so bad, He might be wanting to say something else, Have I understood what She said? I want to know more on this etc) and then, neutral selftalk to the positive (I love myself, I am sure I can do this, I would like to try this, I can see a good opportunity in this etc). • Try diluting your negative words in the intrapersonal communication. Eg: Bad could be ‘not so good, hate could be ‘dislike’ and so on. • Try converting your self-talk statements to the questions. Questions give you fair and 50% chances of Positive answer as well whereas statements don’t. • One cannot stop self-talk, so why try it in vain? Instead replace your ‘Black’ talk with the ‘White’. • Try consciously to be around people who reinforce positive self-talk in you. • Avoid North pole-South pole thinking. Try not to reach the extreme ends of any thought. Always look for a midpoint of that thought, stay and think balanced. • Avoid discrepancy between your self-talk and what you talk about yourself in the outer world. This may pushin immense stress in you. • Practice Self-Empathy. • Self-Talk is Life-Talk, thus, cautiously fertilize it. The world inside you is made and nurtured by you, it exists for you. Thus, value and protect it! Now the next time you talk to yourself, you know the dos and don’ts of it. Thank You!
