RACECOURSE TURNS TO HOMES IN WHAT signifies a new era for the former Pakenham Racecourse, works have officially commenced at ‘Ascot’, the ISPTdeveloped residential community that is set to breathe new life into the historic Pakenham site. Since launching to the public earlier this year, over 75 per cent of the first release has sold and the estate’s first roadways linking the development to the existing town centre are now underway. Elsewhere, integrated wetland bodies will capture and treat stormwater run-off before releasing any overflow back into nearby water catchments, while a central town park will sit nearby to a proposed retail activity centre to create a cohesive neighbourhood ‘hub’ within the master plan. WITH the turn of a key, Mayor Murray Cook fired up an industrial excavator and went to work breaking ground on the new Waterford Rise Display Village on Tuesday, formally launching a project that will bolster the Warragul economy and provide a valuable local resource for home buyers.
