The couple, who are eagerly anticipating their retirement, have downsized after bringing up five children in a large family home in Berwick Springs. Doug and Julie were drawn to Circa because of its beautiful elevated location overlooking the Clyde countryside, large blocks and the connection the estate has with the history of the working farm on which it sits. “We loved the height, sitting at the top of the hill,” said Doug. “The views are beautiful and the park is unique. “Living across the road from something like that was a huge attraction. “There is also the old homestead. Plenty of old and plenty of new.” The Circa Park was inspired by the work of W.R. Guilfoyle, designer of the Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens. The one-hectare park, which was finished before residents arrived, is a modern
interpretation of the botanical gardens and complements the property’s historic Eyrecourt homestead which was built in 1886. Doug and Julie built their new house through Arden Homes. They looked at many displays before walking into Arden’s awardwinning Milan 29 and instantly falling in love. The Milan 29 won a HIA home of the year award in 2014. The project reunited them with Arden Homes sales manager Warren Dibble who sold the couple their home in Berwick Springs 13 years previously. “The home had that wow factor,” said Julie. “Open plan was a must for us and it was just what I wanted.” “Building both times with Arden has been a blessing,” added Doug. “It has been a steady course and they finished three weeks ahead of time.” Stage three of Circa 1886 is selling fast. October was the highest selling month since the sale of blocks began.
