FIRST National Real Estate Neilson Partners says new research has revealed the overwhelming majority of vendors rate their experience selling their home as ‘excellent’ or ‘good’, overturning traditional perceptions about levels of satisfaction with real estate agents. “The vast majority of real estate agents are high achievers, committed to getting the best outcome for their customers so it’s pleasing that independent research confirms the advances the industry has made,� First National Real Estate Neilson Partners principal Ross Neilson said. “Within the First National Real Estate network, there’s a substantial commitment to professional development, quality assurance, and systems that improve efficiency, communication, and sales outcomes.� The Consumer Perceptions of Real Estate Agents survey was conducted by CoreLogic and aimed to understand agents’ service standards in Australia. Some 54 per cent of respondents had sold their home in the past two years, and 26 per cent within the last six months. The stereotype that

real estate agents are untrustworthy smoothtalkers who put their needs ahead of their clients no longer stands. A total of 66 per cent of vendors rated their selling experience as ‘excellent’ (31 per cent) or ‘good’ (35 per cent). Only 14 per cent said their experience was ‘below expectation’. “About 68 per cent of respondents said they would recommend their agent to friends or family and the results around price expectations were also encouraging,� Ross said. “Our industry is very focused on the accuracy of property appraisals and 50 per cent of those surveyed sold for their expected price. A further 23 per cent sold above expectation. This indicates that the majority of agents are not only frank with their clients about realistic price expectations, but their appraisal methods are also more accurate than in the past.� First National Real Estate was recently voted ‘Employer of Choice’ in an independent industry survey. The survey also showed the network had the best culture as well as the happiest principals and staff throughout its 400-plus office network in Australia.
