Lecturer in Property Economics and Development Steven Boyd will chair the State of the Market - Sunshine Coast event, from 3.30pm to 6pm at the Maroochy RSL Events Centre, in Memorial Avenue, Maroochydore.

using a web-based clicker tool.

He will also deliver a presentation on emerging employment trends and their impact on the property market. Mr Boyd said the annual event provided an opportunity for industry experts and the general public to engage in interactive discussion on the Sunshine Coast’s residential, commercial and retail property markets. “This the only event of its nature that delivers a comprehensive view of all property sectors, including turnover trends, current conditions and future opportunities,” Mr Boyd said. “The event also allows us to capture current sentiment, as we encourage audience members

Attendees will hear presentations by local property experts from Savills, Herron Todd White, Colliers International and Ray White Commercial, and will be invited to respond to a series of polls While responses over the past few years have been relatively subdued, Mr Boyd said he expected the industry to take a more positive view this year. “We saw last year that most individual markets had advanced toward the bottom of the cycle, or had begun an upturn,” he said. “This year we’re hoping to see whether this trend has continued, and whether commercial property has followed the residential market into an upturn.” More than 60 industry professionals and 20 USC students are expected to attend. Mr Boyd said the event provided an excellent opportunity for students to participate in discussions that would help shape the future of the local property industry.

Insights into sustainable living SEPTEMBER 13 marks the annual Sustainable House Day for 2015; a celebration of sustainable living. FIRST held in 2001, SHD is an initiative of the Australian Solar Council and over the years has given visitors a chance to inspect houses that have been designed, built or renovated with sustainability in mind. Participants can also take advantage of the chance to talk with the owners and receive advice and information about how to live sustainably. It is the only national event of its

kind, offering a unique education opportunity for the general public to view and access practical information on sustainable living from fellow homeowners who are living greener. As well as workshops in major cities throughout the nation, local community groups and home owners can also get involved by opening their home to the community. This year, former Greens candidate and local Joe Shlegeris is holding

an event that will talk about electric transport. The community is invited to get together on Sunday 13 September, at 175 Lake Wayba Drive, Noosaville, from 10am to 4pm to hear about what other people are doing and to talk to experts in many fields. A few of the topics to be covered include solar powered cars, solar hot water, green waste bins, new electricity tariffs and how to go off-grid.

National Sustainability Day is on Sunday 13 September. Don't miss the opportunity to learn more about living off the grid or how to best use solar power.
