Building growth continues unabated QUEENSLAND’S building industry is experiencing positive growth, with residential building approvals up more than 20 per cent across the state for the past 12 months according to Master Builders.
Master Builders’ deputy executive director Paul Bidwell said the results seemed to reflect current buoyant conditions in the residential market, with units continuing to push up the figures.
Recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) shows for the month of September total dwelling approvals rose a massive 41.6 per cent on the back of another big spike in units. Houses were up a respectable 4.5 per cent.
“Conditions in the housing sector continue to power ahead - particularly in South-East Queensland which is leading the way,” Mr Bidwell said.
Year-on-year, houses were up 6.8 per cent, with units up 36.3 per cent.
Mr Bidwell said the ABS statistics also showed over the past 12 months Queensland was on a par with growth rates in NSW and Victoria.
Building approvals are up in Queensland according to the latest statistics from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
