Building on a home-grown talent FOR most teenagers, being forced to help mum and dad around the house rarely turns into a passion, but for the Rigby twins that is just what happened. A passion for construction grew from many days spent helping with renovations around the family home, from painting to carpentry and everything in between.

The Coves, 22 Tristania Drive, Marcus Beach, is the Rigby Builder's first major development.

Tom and James Rigby, 30, now own and operate Rigby Builders based in Noosa and have just completed their first major development, The Coves. Located in Marcus Beach, The Coves are four private, luxury beachside residences that have just been released to the market. For the twins, renovating the family home with their parents unleashed a love for building homes and site managing projects. “We got into this because of mum and dad. They always did renovations while we were growing up,” Tom said. After gaining a university degree in construction management and cutting their teeth with local builders, Tom and James realised they wanted to get out of construction and focus on site management.

The Coves is the twins’ first solo major development and while the experience has been a mixture of emotions, Tom and James said it’s been a great learning experience. “It’s exciting, it’s been full on, but we’ve learnt a lot,” James said.

“We decided to talk mum and dad into doing this development, to giving us a go to manage it,” James said.

“We did a lot of research and being right on the water, we had to use materials to suit the environment. So we spent a lot of time on that, but it’s why

the development has turned out so well. The construction has gone so well.” The beautiful beachside properties are now on the market, but the twins are already busy rebuilding a family home. “We plan to then branch out further, make some contacts, get our name out there and hopefully stick with more architecturally-designed homes as we’ve developed those skills now,” James said.
