I love nothing more than being in the kitchen in my spare time experimenting with different recipes, even if sometimes they don’t quite work out. 2. What has been the most memorable moment of your life to date? Most definitely the birth of my three children and of course my wedding day. 3. What do you like most about living/working in Noosa? Hands down, it’s the lifestyle, it’s just so healthy spending so much time outdoors, and the fresh local produce is amazing. 4. Where do you think Noosa property prices will go over the next few years? At R&W we have had a very positive 2015. We’ve seen prices increase in a fashion that feels very sustainable. It was a steady increase, just step by step. 5. Where is your favourite part of Noosa and why? Gympie Terrace sitting right on the river with a good book and

I think seeing Barack Obama become President would have to be the most inspirational and memorable events I have witnessed to date. 8. You are hosting a dinner party and can invite six guests, dead or alive. Who would they be? Mick Fanning and his mother Liz, Michelle and Barack Obama, Gai Waterhouse and Will Smith. 9. What has been your most embarrassing moment to date? I can’t quite put my finger on one particular event, there’s been a few and I try to move on quickly.

Love and mortgage are a match MANY young Australians are choosing a doorbell over wedding bells, according to a national survey commissioned by industry superfund-owned bank, ME. The survey of 2,036 people found nearly 23 per cent of millennials have delayed or downsized their nuptials in favour of buying a home. With the average cost of a wedding now $36,000, 21 per cent of respondents also delayed or downsized their honeymoon, and 24 per cent said they decided to delay or have fewer children to commit to a mortgage. The survey also found some brides and grooms now asked guests for a monetary contribution towards their house deposit instead of traditional gifts. But buying a home outside of marriage is not out of the norm either. Around 37 per cent of Australian couples were not married when they purchased their first home, according to ME’s findings, a figure that coincides with the general rise of defacto couples living together. ME Head of Home Loans Patrick Nolan said with house prices more than doubling in the past 15 years, it’s not surprising couples are questioning the value of an extravagant wedding. “What we’ve seen, however, is that with a little lateral thinking and some sensible
saving and budgeting, couples are finding increasingly savvy ways to save for their house deposit and eat their wedding cake too,” he said.

WITH a new year comes a new chance to create a better financial future in 2016, with ASIC releasing the best New Year financial resolutions from ASIC’s SmartMoney. Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is encouraging people to start the new year with positive financial resolutions following its new reports that revealed only about two in five Australians have a shortterm financial plan in place and
Senior executive leader for financial literacy Miles Larbey said having a financial plan in place was key to creating a better financial future in 2016 and beyond. “A great place to start your new year’s financial plan is by visiting ASIC’s MoneySmart website for free, impartial guidance and tools which allow people to set, track and reach financial goals,” he said. “Every January, some of the
most popular New Year resolutions people make are to get to grips with their finances, and ASIC’s MoneySmart can help you do this and achieve your financial goals.” The ASIC New Year financial resolutions includes top tips such as paying extra on your mortgage to clear your debt faster. Mr Larbey said more than half of surveyed Australians with a home loan made extra payments, saving thousands. For example, a couple with a
$400,000 mortgage could save around $50,000 and pay off their debt almost four years earlier by contributing $200 extra per month, assuming a five per cent interest rate and a 25-year term. Home owners can use ASIC’s MoneySmart Mortgage calculator to work out how they could pay off their mortgage sooner. ASIC’s MoneySmart New Year financial resolutions also include tips such as tracking spending to know where your money goes.
