A look in keeping with the landscape LOCAL architect David Teeland has been awarded a Regional Commendation for the Little Cove Sunday House at the 2016 Australian Institute of Architects Sunshine Coast Architecture Awards, presented on Friday 22 April at a ceremony at the Sunfair Beach Hotel in Marcoola. The Sunshine Coast awards acknowledge excellence in architecture and design in the region. From 16 entries, 10 projects were recognised with regional commendations. 2016 Queensland Awards jury director Michael Leary said these projects showed “high levels of climatic and cultural sensitivities“ specific to their location. “Projects do reference the style the region is known for, however we are also

seeing new ideas and new forms that add to discussions about what makes an architecture that belongs to the Sunshine Coast.’ Teeland Architects will now progress to the coveted Queensland Architecture Awards to be announced in Brisbane on 24 June. It was an exciting week for Teeland Architects. On the same day as receiving an award from the Australian Institute of Architects for the Sunday House, they were notified that their Stealth House in the Sunshine Coast hinterland had been shortlisted for the prestigious 2016 Houses Awards. The awards will be presented in Sydney at Doltone House, Hyde Park on Friday 22 July.
