HELP GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND THE Casey/Cardinia Branch of the Housing Industry Association (HIA) has donated $2000 to Beyondblue as part of a fundraising campaign. The group organised and ran a golf day where various local businesses sponsored the event and all money was donated to Beyondblue. Simon Dunstan of SJD Homes based in Officer said that the HIA was a great way for building and construction professionals to stay in touch with the industry. “We were looking for a way to give back to our
community and give local builders more information in the process,” he said. “The golf day was a great opportunity to tell people at a grass roots level what was happening in the industry while raising money and giving back.” Beyondblue is the official charitable foundation for the HIA due to the overrepresentation of depression in the construction and building workforce. HIA Victorian president Rob Griek said the HIA does a lot to help out building and construction professionals beyond
charitable donations. “We really work hard to give information and help out local members to keep them aware of industry changes,” he said. “Information nights are a great way for people to network, share ideas about the industry and stay informed about changes.” Mr Dunstan said the Casey/Cardinia branch of the HIA was always looking for new members and that anyone interested can contact Amy Hall on 5944 4001 to find out about upcoming information sessions.
