Offering you a different real estate experience begins with being real. If you’re looking for someone to help you sell or buy property you’ll quickly get used to hearing words like, ‘trust’, ‘passion’, ‘integrity’, ‘reputation’, and ‘commitment’. At Star we treat you like a person... not a prospect. So we talk with you in a straightforward, meaningful way... not pitches we’ve rehearsed or memorised from a sales seminar. We don’t try and pretend there’s something magical NS ZXNSL YMJ NSYJWSJY YT ąSI GZ^JWX or work out prices of properties in your area. And we don’t have a special formula for signing you up... and then talking you down. Selling property effectively takes hard work. It takes experience, skill and aptitude. People who don’t have what it takes fall back on sounding like real estate agents. Our clients prefer real estate agents who sound like people.

Make the move to property TREASURER Scott Morrison has urged middle-aged blue-collar workers to think about their future work plans, as some face decades toiling in the hot sun. Real estate has long been a career choice for those looking for a new challenge midway through their working lives. REIQ chairman Rob Honeycombe said a career in real estate was the perfect choice for almost everyone, including those in Mr Morrison’s line of sight, “middle-aged, bluecollar workers”. “Real estate is a great second career because it relies so heavily on life experience and skills built up over many years in the workforce,” Mr Honeycombe said.

“In fact, very few real estate professionals launch into their property careers straight out of school. This is a career that requires being able to talk comfortably and negotiate with people from all walks of life, from all backgrounds and all demographics - ideal for older Australians.” Becoming a real estate professional requires enrolling in a course, usually starting with the four-day Registration Course. Most training providers, including the REIQ, offer night classes and online options. “This is an ideal time for those who are thinking about changing careers - no matter what life stage you’re at - to consider embarking on their real estate career,” Mr Honeycombe said. Have you ever thought of becoming a real estate agent? auctioneers and the state’s most experienced property auctioneer, Phil Parker, switched careers in his late twenties, after starting a career as a truck driver. “I used to drive a truck up and down the east coast of Australia,” he said. “One day, when I was meeting a truck driving mate for a coffee, I saw him get out of the cab of his truck and realised how unfit and unhealthy he was and that his lifestyle was tied to his job. “I quit driving and changed to a career in real estate - I haven’t looked back.” Mr Honeycombe said a career in real estate offered a great lifestyle to anyone who wanted to work hard. “You get out of it what you put into it - it’s as simple as that,” he said. Works prepare way to live in Harmony THE first sod has been turned onsite at the Sunshine Coast’s new $3 billion masterplanned community development in Palmview. Sunshine Coast mayor Mark Jamieson and AVID Property Group representatives were onsite on 17 August to celebrate the start of what will be known as the Harmony community. Set on 378 hectares and located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, Harmony by AVID Property Group is expected to deliver more than 4800 homes for 12,000 future residents, 100 hectares of open space and a 15,250 GFA town centre. AVID Property Group general manager Bruce Harper said the sod turning marked the beginning of an exciting time for the Sunshine Coast and was the culmination of 10 years of planning to deliver a quality masterplanned community to the Sunshine Coast region - the first within Palmview. “After many years of careful planning we are thrilled to finally break ground on Harmony,” Mr Harper said. “Harmony is the first masterplanned project to

This is just the beginning of Harmony’s journey to deliver diversity in housing, significant new parklands and a new town centre.” Mr Harper said Harmony aimed to set new standards in community design, not only through the homes that would be delivered, but through the design of green space and parklands that will provide connectivity throughout the development.
“AVID’s focus at Harmony is on delivering authentic Sunshine Coast living - and to do that we have a strong emphasis on embracing all that is unique about coastal living,” he said. With a development timeline of 15-20 years, AVID Property Group anticipate works on Peter Crosby Way and civil construction on the first land release will take 12 months to complete, and estimate early 2017 for construction to commence on Harmony Display World - the largest display village north of the Brisbane River - which will showcase the latest home

Sunshine Coast mayor Mark Jamieson said the start of the $3 billion project would not only deliver quality housing to meet the growing needs of the region, but provide a boost for the local economy through jobs.
“The Coast will benefit hugely from the 9000-plus jobs that will come online as a result.”
“It’s a significant day for the Sunshine Coast, with the masterplanned community at Palmview now underway,” Cr Jamieson said. “It’s not every day that a $3 billion project commences in the region - and one that will provide homes to more than 12,000 of the total of 17,000 people who will

beside the beach. I love the fact that there is no traffic to worry about and the scenic drive to the office is to die for.
1. Tell us something most people don’t know about you? I gave up sugar for a year in 2014 and I am a huge fan of the Sugar Free movement. I follow healthy living on a daily basis and I also love blogging about food, diet and exercise.
4. Where do you think Noosa property prices will go over the next few years? Over the last year we have experienced a high level of visitors holidaying in Sunshine Beach and Noosa and also families relocating from the Southern cities for a more beachside relaxed life for their children. We are in need of quality properties for both holiday accommodation and for permanent rental accommodation for these families. This is turn has ensured sales in the area have remained strong and we are very positive for the sales market going forward.
2. What has been the most memorable moment of your life to date? I love travelling and my most memorable trip was travelling around Australia for three months with my two best friends in 2007. Spending my birthday on a boat in the Whitsundays was unbelievable. My two very best moments though were when my daughters were welcomed to the world. 3. What do you like most about living/ working in Noosa? The most important thing to my family is the work/life balance which I feel I have accomplished by working in the most beautiful part of the world and living
5. Where is your favourite part of Noosa and why? I love Noosa River as the water is calm enough for the girls to swim or paddle board and you can bring a picnic down during summer or hire a barbecue boat for the afternoon. We also love spending the morning on Sunshine Beach with our miniLabradoodle.
6. What attracted you to a career in property? One of the most important things to me is having exceptional customer service skills. I truly enjoy helping owners and sellers achieve their investment goals and finding a buyer or tenant their dream home is very rewarding. 7. Who is your favourite artist of all time and why? It would have to be the famous graffiti artist/political activist and film director ‘Banksy’. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. My favourite is his graffiti titled ‘There is Always Hope’ which is a girl painted in black grasping for a red heart balloon. It can symbolise your childhood, loss, giving up on dreams or any wish that seems far away from becoming a reality. Yet the writing makes it clear that there is hope.
9. You are hosting a dinner party and can invite six guests, dead or alive. Who would they be? Jackie Kennedy for her style and grace, Lorna Jane Clarkson who I think has changed the way Australian women look at fitness, Stephen King to delve into his unbelievable imagination, Pablo Picasso for his artwork, Vera Wang for her design tips, and my mother.
10. What has been your most embarrassing moment to date? While working as a new homes sales agent we had our Christmas party in a beautiful five-star hotel in Dublin. While making my great entrance I fell head first down a full flight of stairs on front of 30 work colleagues and of course the owner of the company! All I could do was stand up, smile and try to pretend it never happened.
8. If you could witness any event, past, present or future, what would it be? I would have loved to be present during the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland when a group of Irish Republicans rose up to end British Rule and establish an independent Irish Republic.
WHEN IT COMES TO LIFESTYLE THIS TOWNHOUSE IS SURE TO GET YOUR VOTE This is truely retirement at it’s best. ( lock-up and leave any time you like, and your property is absolutely safe ) Firstly, you will notice the continuous flow of space in this “AAA” ‘Cascades’ 3 bedroom 2 bathroom townhouse situated on this lovely big corner site, very sunny kitchen with heaps of cupboards and stone bench tops, excellent size laundry and again heaps of cupboards, and powder room. The living areas are tiled and open plan and let the sun in all day. There is a great outdoor undercover entertaining area to enjoy as well where you can entertain friends any time of the day. On the second floor is the master bedroom with lovely ensuite, walk in robe and a nice big balcony where you can have a early morning coffee and read the papers. There are two more bedrooms and main bathroom on this level. Make yourself at home in the garden where there is a pleasant mix of foliage blends. Noosa Springs offers so much, so there is always something to do. Whether you play golf, have a swim in the nearby shared pool and amenities, have a hit of tennis on the flood lit courts, enjoy the superb gymnasium, lap pool, the fine dining restaurant, bars and world class health spa.
