Resident uprooted FACTORY DIRECT BLINDS FOR LESS
Ms Messina said that if the council would not remove the trees, it should at least cut back the roots. City of Casey city presentation manager David Richardson said the council had previously attended and repaired the footpath in question. “The resident contacted council in relation to damage on private property, and the council has sent out the necessary forms to make the claim,” he said. “As the resident has claimed the damage was caused/contributed to by council trees, the resident needs to supply the relevant information to substantiate the claim. “This may be in the form of a geotechnical, plumbing or engineering report.”

“They’re even damaging the kerb on the road,” she said. “The council now expects us to jump through hoops.” After lodging a complaint, Ms Messina said she received a letter from the council requesting more information to process a claim for compensation. She said that information included a geotechnical report, an engineer report or and a plumbing report substantiating reasons for the structural damage. “We don’t really want to claim anything, we just want them to do something,” she said. “It shouldn’t be on us. “It’s not our property, it’s the council property.”

An Endeavour Hills resident is calling on Casey council to remove destructive gum trees from the nature strip outside her home. Dora Messina said the “two huge gums” were “starting to be a real pain” and she’d asked the council to remove them several times over the past 20 years. She said that branches had fallen into her property, leaves had blocked her gutters, and now roots were lifting her retaining wall. Ms Messina said the council told her the trees were too healthy to be removed. She said the roots were stopping grass from growing on the Wills Court nature strip, had lifted the footpath and were a tripping hazard for pedestrians.

Fallen redgums parked By Casey Neill Trees removed to make way for the elevated rail in Noble Park are popping up across the municipality. The Journal reported last August that the community was reeling following shock news that dozens of decades-old river red gums and several other trees on Mons Parade, between Heatherton Road and Briggs Crescent, would be removed. The Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA) said at the time that river red gums were not suitable for transplanting. So the project team is storing logs that will be incorporated into the new parkland that will be created under the raised rail line. The council also received several logs which city planning, design and amenity director Jody Bosman said have established new habitat in bushland areas around the city. “It is also investigating the possibility of using
some of the logs to create new park furniture, interpretative signage and artworks,” he said. It worked with Greater Dandenong Council to salvage and relocate various native plants from within the rail corridor, including donating several to not-for-profit nursery Greenlink Sandbelt in Clayton South. The LXRA team also harvested seeds from river red gum trees along the rail corridor and donated them to the council. LXRA project director Brett Summers said those seeds would also be used in planting in the new parkland. “It makes sense for us to harvest and propagate seeds from this area to make sure the new trees we put will have the best possible chance of thriving in this local area,” he said. “By elevating the rail line between Caulfield and Dandenong we will keep nearly 1900 more trees in the rail corridor than if we had removed the level crossings by building a trench.”

A Dandenong North man was choked and punched outside his own home before thieves stole his mobile phone. The 24-year-old arrived at his Sherwood Crescent address about 8.30pm on Friday 17 March. He told police he heard a loud vehicle revving a few doors down and walked outside to see what was happening. A black Holden ute approached and stopped in front of the victim. He told police that a passenger got out and pushed him to the ground, onto the nature strip. The victim said his attacker choked him and demanded his phone, then punched him to the face when he handed it over. The thief got back into the car and left the scene. The victim suffered minor injuries. Police said the man was described as MiddleEastern, about 180cm tall and aged in his early thirties with a solid build.

Security guards and a young woman helped a 92-year-old woman to her feet following a fall in a Dandenong car park. Her daughter, Teresa, contacted the Journal to express her thanks to the good Samaritans. She said the guards applied an ice pack to her mum’s leg, which prevented bruising, “when she slipped on a greasy patch on the car park floor outside Woolies ... thanks also to the young woman who picked mum up from the floor as I have a bad knee and couldn’t do it myself,” she said.

Casey CIU detectives are searching for a stolen ute. They said thieves took the 1999 white Ford Courier twin cab utility from a home in Chalcot Drive, Endeavour Hills, on Friday 17 February. It was seen parked at an apartment block car park in Dandenong in late February. The ute has had different rims and distinctive Electra Ironman-brand tyres fitted since the theft. On Tuesday 21 March, police released images of the vehicle with the different wheels and tyres in the hope that someone might know its whereabouts.
Mayor ‘heartbroken’ as he says battle is lost By Cam Lucadou-Wells Casey mayor Sam Aziz says “we’ve lost the battle” after Casey’s crime rate soared during 2016, according to official crime statistics. According to the Crime Statistics Agency, reported offences in Casey went up 12.5 per cent on a per-capita basis (15 per cent on raw figures). It was higher than the state-wide per-capita crime rate rise of 10.2 per cent. Cr Aziz said his concerted law-and-order campaign - including lowering the council’s flag to half-mast and declaring Casey as a “city in distress” - was vindicated by crime’s “exponential” growth. “I was a bit more than surprised by the (latest statistics),” Cr Aziz said. “I was heart-broken. There is very much a human side to these statistics. “In reality, people’s lives are disrupted every day by the rise of crime. It flows on to depression, break-ups in families - it makes people feel very insecure.” Overall, there were more than 2200 assaults in
2016 - up 20.9 per cent, more than 2800 burglaries - up 31.5 per cent, and 8000-plus thefts - up 17.8 per cent. Put another way, that’s more than 40 assaults, about 55 burglaries and about 150 thefts a week. Arsons nearly doubled to 256 for the calendar year. On the other hand, drug offences were down 8.6 per cent; trafficking and drug dealing dipped 25 per cent, while drug cultivation and manufacture halved. Hardest hit suburbs for burglaries were Berwick (up 40 per cent), Clyde North (up 46 per cent), Cranbourne West (up 31 per cent), Hallam (up 40 per cent) and Hampton Park (up 67 per cent). Cr Aziz called for a stronger response from the State Government, which has pledged 3135 extra police officers in Victoria over the next five years. He reiterated his call for a reversal of Endeavour Hills Police Station’s “part-time” status, tougher sentencing, deportations of dual citizens and an anti-youth gang taskforce of state and federal police. “I think we’ve lost the battle with crime and I want to make sure we don’t lose the war as well.”
In Brief Hunt after sexual assault
Police Minister Lisa Neville said police were making more arrests than ever as part of a crime crackdown across the state. “What we are seeing in these statistics is the results of this enforcement activity and the beginnings of a stabilisation in the number of offences. “We’ve always said turning the six year crime trend around would be tough, and we’ve always been upfront about that.” Opposition police spokesman Edward O’Donohue said the “staggering” 37.9 per cent rise in offences in Casey during the Andrews government’s first two years told of a “crime crisis”. He said funding needed to be brought forward for “desperately needed” extra police in Casey. “While home invasions, car-jackings and crimes against the person have become depressingly common, Daniel Andrews has cut the opening hours of the Endeavour Hills Police Station and refused to commit to the much needed new Clyde police station.” Crime Statistics Agency chief statistician Fiona Dowsley said vehicle theft and theft from vehicles was a sharp contributor to the state-wide rise in thefts.
More tram orders in pipeline as Premier flags buy-in By Casey Neill A little patience will pay off for Bombardier in the May State Budget, Premier Daniel Andrews has hinted. He visited the Dandenong manufacturer on Tuesday 21 March to inspect the 51st E-Class tram to roll off the production line. It has new features, including a driver cabin designed with input from drivers and more handles and rails for passengers. The tram was the first of a $295 million State Government order for 20 trams, made in 2015 and following its previous order for 50 trams. “This project is 500 jobs. That’s the best way to look at this,” Mr Andrews said. “Five hundred livelihoods depend on these orders.” He said the final 20 would be finished by the end of June next year. “There’s a State Budget in just a few weeks’ time, and if everyone is just patient, I know a really strong future for this business, a strong future for these workers and the outstanding quality product that they have been turning out and will continue to for many, many years to come,” he said. “Bombardier are actually exceeding the local content requirements that we wrote into the contract, creating jobs and skills and opportunities along the way and creating a much better experience for the travelling public. “You can’t get a better outcome than that.” Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams said she’d been working very closely with Bombardier over the past two years. She’s also worked closely with the Premier, Mr Noonan and Transport Minister Jacinta Allan “to make the case for more work going to Bombardier”. “The work continues, and hopefully we’ll get some good news in the budget,” she said. Industry and Employment Minister Wade Noonan said Bombardier was supporting displaced automotive industry workers, as well as supporting
A 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a bus from Dandenong to Doveton last month. Police are appealing for help to identify the man responsible and believe the incident could be linked to an assault in Carnegie late last year. In that case, a 21-year-old woman caught a train to the city from Murrumbeena about 5pm on Sunday 20 November. A man boarded the train at Carnegie Railway Station and sat next to the victim before sexually assaulting her between the Carnegie and South Yarra railway stations. Police believe the offender got off the train at Flinders Street Station. They believe the same man followed a 14-yearold girl from Dandenong Railway Station about 3.50pm on Thursday 16 February. He boarded the same Route 845 bus and sat next to her before sexually assaulting her. Police believe he got off the bus at Linden Place, Doveton. On Friday 24 March, Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives released images and CCTV footage of a man who might be able to assist with their inquiries. He is described as aged in his early 50s with a medium build, dark skin and greyish facial hair. He was wearing brown pants, a brown shirt and a light-coloured hat, and was carrying a back pack. Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report to www.crimestoppersvic.com.au with any information.
Trial for girl’s death A Dandenong man charged over a girl’s death in South Australia will stand trial in May. Shujaat Bahrami, 40, received the news at a hearing in Adelaide Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 23 March where his case was adjourned to Thursday 4 May. South Australian police charged Mr Bahrami with one count of causing death by dangerous driving, three counts of causing serious harm by dangerous driving, and one count of aggravated due care over an eight-year-old Kilburn girl’s death in a Barossa Valley car crash last year. They allege he was behind the wheel of a Hyundai SUV that collided head-on with a Mitsubishi Pajero four-wheel drive on Duck Pond Road, Stockwell, just before 4pm on Sunday 2 October. The girl was in the Hyundai’s back seat and died at the scene. Premier Daniel Andrews speaks at Bombardier. supply chain businesses across the South-East. He said the trams contained about 60 per cent local content. “We’re talking about the glass, the seats, the flooring, obviously the shell are all built here in Victoria by Victorians for Victorians,” he said. Mr Noonan said Bombardier was a great demonstration of Victoria’s “manufacturing capacity that has been growing in real terms over the past two years”. Bombardier Transportation Australia managing director Andrew Dudgeon said the next-generation E-Class trams were about delivering for purpose. “These trams are made in Melbourne, for Melbourne - so we work hard to understand the require-
ments of our customer and passengers,” he said. “We’ve worked closely with our customer, special user groups and the public to collect important feedback which informed the design and functional enhancements of the trams.” Mr Dudgeon said Bombardier tapped into a partnership with Swinburne University and used a virtual reality mock-up. “The enhancements on Tram 51 will cascade not only to Tram 70 and beyond, but the initial fleet will be retrofitted with the various changes and benefits,” he said. “From design all the way through to the build, our team in Dandenong manages the entire process and could not be more proud of these vehicles.”
Wanted man is on the run Anthony Scott is wanted over a firearms incident and is believed to frequent Dandenong. Police are appealing for public help to find the 31-year-old. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. On Tuesday 21 March, investigators released an image of Scott in the hope someone might have information on his current whereabouts. He is described as 178cm tall with a medium build, olive skin, short dark hair and a goatee beard. Police urged anyone who saw Scott to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

22 March 1917 Dandenong Red Cross Society A garden party was held on 10 March at Roseneath, the residence of Dr and Mrs Langley, given by the committee of the Dandenong Red Cross branch to the workers of that society. There were about 200 present and the Dandenong brass band played during the afternoon. Mrs Skene gave an interesting address on Red Cross work and urged those present, if possible, to double their efforts. Afternoon tea was handed round. The request for each guest to bring a khaki handkerchief for the soldiers was liberally responded to, 219 being received.
20 March 1967 Adding a touch of glamour First on the Journal’s list of test cars from Volkswagen was the familiar 1300 Beetle. To add a touch of glamour to this model, the company has included new interior trim and white wall tyres. Test driving the deluxe from the plant at Clayton, the snappy acceleration in first and second gears was amazing. The price is $1868 (inc tax), top speed 79MPH.
20 years ago 31 March 1997 Priest ‘denied fair trial’ A priest says a report in the Journal has “seriously compromised” a fellow priest’s right
to a fair trial. Last week’s report was based on a press release issued by the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne and concerned Father Peter Searson, who has been relieved of his duties at the Holy Family parish in Doveton by the Most Reverend Dr George Pell. Father Searson, 73, has been asked to answer questions put by an independent inquiry investigating claims of sexual abuse by clergy and lay people under the control of the archdiocese. In a letter to the editor, Farther Michael Shadbolt, parish priest at St Kevin’s in Hampton Park, said the article had listed allegations against Father Searson, none of which had been tested in a court of law. (The Journal did not list allegations against Father Searson. However the archdiocese described them as ‘serious’).
5 years ago 26 March 2012 Sustainable opportunity It’s not easy being green but Dandenong is the ideal place for a clean technology hub, say clean business chief executive Peter Voigt. A speaker at the ‘innovation showcase’ held this weekend, Mr Voigt says there may be little choice. “The big global challenges ahead are energy and water,” he said. “We need them to stay alive and feed ourselves. So industries have to plan to be environmentally sustainable.” He says that won’t change the fact that manufacturers will still be under “immense pressure” under the impending carbon tax regime.
Work and growth bring strength Victoria has gone from having the highest unemployment rate on mainland Australia to being the fastest growing economy in the nation. We are building critical infrastructure and delivering vital services for Victorians. With each project, we are creating jobs. While Victoria as a whole has the highest employment growth in Australia, growth is never evenly spread. Some communities experience higher unemployment rates than the state average and more complex challenges to overcome. This includes Dandenong and Doveton - places that have been the engine room of Victoria’s economy for decades, but have more recently fallen prey to a changing economy. We cannot forget about them. It has been with great pride that I have served as state MP for Dandenong for the past two years. In that time I have advocated passionately for local jobs and the growth of local industries. Jobs mean more than just income; they are a solution to most social challenges.
COMMUNITY
VOICE GABRIELLE WILLIAMS DANDENONG MP
Higher rates of employment mean more people are engaged with their community. This has a positive effect on mental health, drives down crime rates, substance abuse and family violence. Jobs change lives and strengthen communities. Recently I announced the Dandenong and Doveton Community Revitalisation Project, a $500,000 employment initiative targeting disadvantaged jobseekers in our local community. The project is delivering a number of initiatives to connect local people with local jobs. It is expanding the One Percent Project to encourage local employers to recruit more of their
workforce from our local community. This builds on a number of other projects I hope will have a local benefit. Projects like the Jobs Victoria Employment Network (JVEN) which specifically targets those who face complex barriers to employment, including refugees, long-term unemployed, disengaged youth, people with disabilities, public housing tenants and Aboriginal Victorians. The last Victorian Budget included $12.4 billion in job-creating infrastructure, $116 million to establish 10 new tech schools, record investment in our education system and continued investment in TAFE. We need to give young people the skills they need for the job they want and invest in local projects to attract people and jobs to the Dandenong region. The Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative is a prime example of this. This $290 million project is restoring Dandenong as the capital of Melbourne’s south-east, delivering a variety of projects to enhance Dande-
nong’s appeal as a place to live and work. With each project, new and continued job opportunities have been created for locals. The initiative has seen the reinvigoration of Lonsdale Street and surrounds; a new Government Services Office, Australian Tax Office and council office; $22 million Quest apartment complex; and a new $25 million regional headquarters for the Salvation Army. And there is more to come. We are also removing five level crossings in our local area. The removal of the Noble Park level crossings is not only facilitating easier and safer access to our community, it is creating 2000 jobs. It will open up access to the Douglas Street shops and boost economic activity. The removal of the Abbotts Road and South Gippsland Highway level crossings will assist in the movement of local freight and local workers, improving business productivity. We still have work to do, and I’ll keep pushing hard for local jobs.

By Cam Lucadou-Wells Young people in Casey will be learning about the law through sports sessions under a community legal service program. The Sporting Change program, with the help of sports stars and sport sessions, has been piloted at Narre Warren South P-12 College to teach students about police powers, employment law, and relationships and the law. Springvale-Monash Legal Service community development worker Ashleigh Newnham said sport was a proven winner with engaging young people, and shared many parallels with the law. There are umpires and police, sport tribunals and law, and being part of a sport team and a community. Not knowing about the legal system was like going onto a football field without knowing the rules or having played before, Ms Newnham said. “Are you more or less likely to break the rules of the game? “This is like going out into life, without understanding the different ways in which laws intersect with us all each day.” Different sports would be used to convey lessons - people can’t carry fake weapons or spray paint cans in public just like there are items like jewellery that you can’t wear on a soccer field. Being convicted jeopardises your job pros-

Ms Newnham said the program was launched in Casey because of its significant population growth but limited access to justice, particularly for young people. The municipality also had higher rates of youth unemployment, disengagement with education,
housing stress and lower income - which put young people at risk of clashing with the justice system. She said further locations were being investigated for the program, with a possible roll-out in Pakenham. The program is supported by Melbourne City soccer club, rugby league club Pakenham Eels, Volleyball Victoria and In2Fitness Gym.

Casey detectives are hunting a man involved in a Christmas ‘coward punch’ in Doveton. They released CCTV images on Monday 20 March seeking public help in relation to the assault, which occurred outside a Serbian club in Power Road, Doveton, about Police want to find 1.45am on 25 De- this man. cember last year. Detectives said a dispute between patrons occurred inside the club as it was closing after one man spilt a drink on another. The scuffle continued into the parking lot. Police said the victim, who involved himself in the scuffle, was confronted by one man and punched in the head from behind. The victim fell to the ground and a second man repeatedly kicked him to the head. This second man was described as Southern European in appearance, probably Serbian or Croatian, with dark-coloured crew cut hair, a heavily tattooed right upper arm and some facial hair. He was wearing a white or cream-coloured polostyle shirt. Police said they wanted to identify the man in the CCTV images as he would be of assistance to the investigation. Annabella’s fragile hold By Casey Neill It was three days after Annabella’s birth that mum Emily Looker Salmon finally got to hold the newborn in her arms. The Dandenong 21-year-old knew something was going wrong with her pregnancy when her baby’s movement dropped, but it wasn’t until excruciating pain set in a few days later that doctors decided to deliver at 29 weeks. Annabella entered the world via emergency Caesarean at Dandenong Hospital on Tuesday 2 August last year. Doctors assess each baby one minute and five minutes after birth and record what’s known as an APGAR score based on five key signs. A score of seven or above is normal. “She was a two,” Emily said. Annabella was rushed to the Royal Children’s Hospital. “When we found out to the Royal Children’s I could actually relax,” dad Daniel Lish said. Emily said she didn’t quite understand what was happening to her baby. “But when we got to the Children’s Hospital
Emily with newborn Annabella. they explained it to me like 300 times so it became easier to understand what was going on,” she said. Emily and Daniel praised paediatrician Kevin Dunne, who they still take Annabella to for check-ups. “He would meet with me every Wednesday to explain what was going on,” Emily said. “We were in the Children’s Hospital for 12 weeks because she didn’t leave until she was term.”
Annabella underwent dozens of tests and treatments during that time, and still requires oxygen due to scarring on her lungs. Emily recalled walking into Annabella’s room to find the hospital’s head doctor cuddling and comforting the infant, and spending her 21st birthday there. “The nurses took a print of her hands and feet and they made me a really cute present from Annabella, with a poem,” she said. Emily donated any coins she could get her hands on to the Good Friday Appeal when she was a child. “Every year mum and I always watch,” she said. “When I was a kid I used to love it because they had the Wiggles and things on there. “Now I love it because of the stories. “I never thought that we’d go there, that we’d experience it. “It was absolutely amazing, I loved it.” Visit goodfridayappeal.com.au to support equipment, research and education. In Brief Affordable rents disappear Access to affordable rentals is steadily falling for low income tenants across Casey according to new figures. Department of Human Services rental data shows the number of affordable dwellings for low income tenants fell across Casey in the year to December 2016. There were 34 fewer affordable properties available to rent than in 2015. The Department of Human Services data classified affordable rentals as ‘new lettings accessible to households on Centrelink incomes.’ The drop in affordable property availability comes as new Domain Group data showed an increase of 2.5 per cent to the median house rent in the December quarter. The median rent is now $410 per week. Dr Andrew Wilson, Domain Chief Economist said, record levels of new construction and surging investor activity in Melbourne have not yet eased prices.

GETAWAYS AND SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Science moves the senses Explore the scientific principles behind music, light, force and motion at the Antarctic Journey. From Saturday 1 April, the Antarctic Journey at the Nobbies, Phillip Island, will play host to a range of fascinating and interactive scientific experiences as part of the Science on the Move travelling exhibition, created by Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre in Canberra. Science on the Move is a collection of 23 exhibits and 35 hands-on experiences that will engage both the mind and body in all things science. “Science on the Move lets visitors discover concepts such as electricity, magnetism and human senses in a fun, interactive way,” said education co-ordinator Kim Dunstan. Visitors can experiment with sound by hitting pipes of varying lengths with a rubber thong to play a tune, or make music using a row of bottles filled with different volumes of water and air, to produce different pitched sounds. Science on the Move explores key themes such as physics and biology. Visitors can determine the balance point of different shaped rods and everyday items like a broom, or lift blocks to gauge how heavy the blocks would feel on other planets in the Solar System. With a range of puzzles, visitors can also show-

Suitable for ages eight and up, but with topics of varying complexity, Science on the Move will

Take a great break along the Tambo
Unwind with a holiday at Tambo River Tourist Park. 12344312-LB13-17
The Tambo River Tourist Park at Swan Reach is a great place to spend a short break. The past few months have seen many visitors finding what staff and regulars already know - the area has so much to offer. Visitors can enjoy scenic drives, visiting the local wineries or fresh fruit farms, cycling the rail trail or taking a bike ride to Metung for coffee. The bush is beautiful and there are many roads
to explore, and the possibility of finding ruins of old quarries, mills or machinery left behind from days gone by is always there. The river is perfect for kayaks and boats, and fishing is always a popular pastime. There are plenty of places to enjoy fishing from the bank so a boat is not necessary to hook the best catches. The past year has seen a great increase in the number of overnight stays in caravans and campers. Tambo River offers powered and unpowered sites. Waste disposal is available at all sites and laundry, camp kitchen and barbecue facilities are on hand. As more and more travellers are enjoying extended trips with their ‘best friends’ Tambo River is pleased to welcome pets to the park. Some restrictions do apply regarding pets at Christmas and Easter. The park also offers comfortable and affordable cabins in a variety of sizes. The cabins are popular with families and groups. Tambo River welcomes a number of fishing groups during the winter months, and groups of friends and families holidaying together. The village of Swan Reach has a well-stocked general store with post office and newsagency, a hotel providing meals and cold beer, and a service station for fuel, mechanical repairs and fishing gear. Bait, boat repairs and take away food are all available in the neighbourhood. The weather in autumn is usually very mild. Tambo River staff members would love to welcome new visitors to their beautiful part of the world. For booking or further information phone 5156 4314 or visit www.tamborivertouristpark.com, or find Tambo River Tourist Park on Facebook and start planning the next holiday now.

Top high-rise apartments A $60 million apartment block is coming to central Dandenong. Places Victoria has signed a development agreement with Orion International Group for the 14-storey building on the Foster Street currently home to the Dandenong Pop-Up Park. It’s part of the $290 million Revitalising Central Dandenong project. The proposed development would include about 140 apartments, ground floor retail and office space, and car parking. “This development will offer more diverse housing options in an area that is close to public transport and the centre of Dandenong,” Places Victoria’s precincts general manager Simon Wilson said. “The development will also create employment opportunities during the construction phase and will stimulate economic activity following its completion.” Orion International Group deputy general manager Oliver Hu said Dandenong offered enormous potential. “Orion International distinguishes itself from

“Design and quality are highly valued and integral to each project to ensure each development achieves value for investors, residents and the surrounding community.” Other developments in the precinct include the recently opened Quest apartments, the Government Services Office, ATO building and the City of Greater Dandenong civic centre. The State Government initiated Revitalising Central Dandenong in 2006. It’s expected to attract more than $1.2 billion in private sector investment, create 5000 jobs and enhance Dandenong’s appeal as a great place to live, work and visit. Mr Wilson said more than $500 million in private investment had already been committed through the initiative. “Almost 40 per cent of land within the project boundary is now developed, under construction or contracted,” he said. There are 11 sites within the precinct still to be developed, primarily around Dandenong railway station and George Street.
Teens and young adults build skills, confidence for life By Casey Neill A simple shipping container is giving struggling students a leg-up and informing the community. Eighteen students aged 15 to 27 are carrying out construction, carpentry and painting in Dandenong South with guidance from mentors and supervisors from TRY Build. When they’ve finished transforming the 40-foot shipping container it will be moved to Noble Park and used as an information hub for the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project. There’ll be internal stairs and a rooftop observation deck. Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams checked out their progress on Monday 20 March. TRY Build falls under the umbrella of TRY Australia and is one of Australia’s longest-running social enterprises. It takes on students who are disengaged and struggling to cope with mainstream education, and refugees in the process of building a new life. They received on-the-job training alongside classroom learning to build their literacy and numeracy skills, and can work towards a recognised qualification in building and construction. “We’re giving these students real-life, on-the-job training to keep them engaged and build their skills and confidence,” Ms Williams said. “Their hard work will give locals a place to drop in and find out more about this massive project which will remove nine dangerous and congested level crossings, so we can run more trains, more often to Dandenong.” TRY Australia operations general manager Bill Bardsley said the students’ pride in the project, personal growth, and boosted self-esteem and confidence were priceless.

THE DECADENCE OF CABARET RETURNS… Following a sell-out season in Sydney, The Kit Kat Club is returning to Melbourne in all its decadence for a new Australian revival of CABARET playing at The Athenaeum Theatre from 27 April. CABARET in its musical form is based on The Berlin Stories by famous author Christopher Isherwood who exchanged his upper-middle-class conservative upbringing for the sexual freedom and social liberation of Berlin during the bustling 1930s. CABARET the musical, adapted by song and lyrics team Kander and Ebb, became a semi-biographical portrait of Isherwood’s life, celebrating life on the edge. CABARET walks the tightrope of pure entertainment and serious political consciousness and for this very reason the musical continues to allure audiences.

MISCO director Henry Abraham with daughter and administration manager Rhiannon Frankas.
Making the Dandy switch By Casey Neill “After about 38 years in the industry I decided to try and see what I could do with myself.” So Henry Abraham set up Mica and Insulating Supplies Co (MISCO) in Dandenong South in July last year. He contacted local and overseas suppliers to ensure he could obtain materials, recruited staff, canvassed prospective customers and found suitable premises. “I’ve always wanted to be in the Dandenong area because it’s the hub of manufacturing,” he said. MISCO supplies electrical switchboard builders, motor repairers, electrical furnace manufacturers and more. “We make to order, we don’t carry stock.” He said the MISCO difference was getting back to customers quickly, supplying quality product on-time and being cost-competitive. “We’re much more proactive to customers’ requirements,” he said. “Every customer has different requirements.” Mr Abraham said more orders were coming in. “I was restricted for the first six months,” he said. “We picked up a fair few new customers “A fair few came to us through word of mouth.” The non-compete clause from his previous employer finished at the start of March. “We’ve picked up a lot of customers since,” he said. At the moment he has three staff members, but hopes that will grow to five in the coming weeks. On 6 December MISCO received a Greater Dandenong Business Grant at Dandenong Civic Centre alongside four other businesses. The grant included up to $8000 plus business mentoring and marketing valued at about $2000. “So far we’ve used the grant for the website, some for a guard on a machine and some for promotional pens and material,” Mr Abraham said. The Journal will profile each of the grant recipients.

AGENT OZAN STANDS OUT IN KEYSBOROUGH THROUGH RATEMYAGENT WIN Biggin and Scott Greater Dandenong real estate agent, Ozan Kanbur has been awarded the 2017 RateMyAgent Agent of the Year award for the suburb of Keysborough. Ozan, who has worked for Biggin and Scott for the past two and a half years, says that while the award came as a shock, it was a great reflection of the work the business does within the Greater Dandenong real estate community. “Of course, I was surprised,” Ozan admitted. “But when you look over our (figures), we’re consistently getting high results. We have good training and methods of sales as well. All different things contribute, but we are ahead of other agents ... so I was surprised, but it felt deserved.” Launched in 2014, Ratemyagent.com.au allows property buyers and sellers from all over Australia the opportunity to review realtors and brokers they’ve worked with. Similar to review sites such as 2 DANDENONG JOURNAL Monday, 27 March, 2017
Urbanspoon and Foursquare, Ratemyagent.com.au collates user reviews, ratings and results of agents and agencies from past clients in order to assist future vendors and buyers. It is this data collation that was the deciding factor in the search for the RateMyAgent 2017 award winners. With an average rating of 4.8 out of 5, Ozan is a crowd favourite among reviewers, with his latest review received from a Waterways Vendor who received $1,708,888 for the sale of their sevenbedroom home. Giving Ozan 4.5 stars, the vendor was all praise stating, “Ozan has a great attitude and really cares for his clients. He has a great personality and very professional when dealing with buyers and other stakeholders. I would recommend him to others who are thinking of selling their home. We were informed and supported throughout the whole process.“ Having been in the real estate game for
the past four years, Ozan admits that it’s a career that comes with hard work, late nights and early mornings. Having fallen into the real estate world through a referral from his past job in furniture sales, Ozan soon met Biggin and Scott director, Corey Le, who has nothing but admiration for his dedicated employee. “His market strategy and recommendation from clients (is what makes him stand out)” Corey said. “He has good work ethics and negotiation ability ... He’s absolutely a good character (and is) very friendly and always positive.” However, while Ozan won’t be receiving a trophy or plaque for his achievements, he admits that bragging rights are more than enough reward for his hard work. “There’s no trophy, it’s just bragging rights,” Ozan laughed. “But we get to publish the award and share it around with locals to show them the work we do.” Connecting people and communities DJ

PREMIUM TURN KEY BUYING MADE EASY HOME BUYERS
GUIDE
MAT SUCKLING DIRECTOR OF RMS HOMES To all of you who have scrolled your eyes past this piece - welcome and hello! My name is Mat Suckling, managing director of RMS Homes. We provide premium turn key homes for first home buyers, and assist with all your finance needs. At RMS Homes, we saw an opportunity to provide flexibility and transparency not often afforded to first home buyers. For whatever reason and for too long, first home buyers have been left to wade through the murky waters of purchasing a home, sometimes without totally understanding what is on offer in their home. Then, to their shock, they
find they cannot make a single change to their home design - and end up with a house rather than their home. Thanks to the Star News Group, each fortnight I will provide an information piece assisting first home buyers whether that be external government policies (stamp duty elimination and an increase in the First Home Owners Grant for regional buyers), finance information or general buying information so that you have more knowledge and power when making your decision on what to buy, and importantly who to build with. I am excited to share my knowledge with you and together we can give our friends and family continued guidance for what is considered a daunting task - but is made so much easier by communication and information. Thanking you for your time!

And at our Keysborough office, Raine. Hail. Or Shine. great service in any weather is exactly whathere you can - part We’re forexpect you. of our strong statewide, nationwide and international real estate group.
Let there be light was the instruction to Louis Chiodo Architects when the firm was commissioned to design four stunning homes in Keysborough’s Sarah Lands
Estate. The impressive end result - four sleek, modern homes - all go under the hammer on 22 April. Light floods each of the four homes, accentuated by 2.7 metre high ceilings and large windows inviting views in all directions. Visitors can step through the front entrance of each home and be surprised by the spaciousness of the open plan living, dining and kitchen area. Each home is designed slightly differently to take advantage of the orientation of the block, however they all possess similar functional floor plans and stunning inclusions. The kitchens have grey Caesarstone bench tops, waterfall ends to the kitchen islands, walk-in pantries, glass splashbacks and 900mm stainless steel under bench oven and gas cook tops. Stunning black pendant lights hang above the island benches giving the kitchens a sophisticated finish. Pale wood stairs, under which is tucked a discreet powder room, lead to the second storey which boasts a second living space and three bedrooms. The bedrooms all have mirror-finish built-in wardrobes and large windows offering views of the surrounding estate, while the master bedroom has a spacious en suite. Both the en suite and master bathroom
boast floor-to-ceiling tiles, Caesarstone bench tops and luxury toilet and tapware. Peter Nicolls, director of KR Peters, the firm marketing the four homes, said the lucky buyers can move straight and make themselves at home thanks to an extensive list of inclusions. The properties are fenced and landscaped. The exposed aggregate paving to the driveway, paths and outdoor courtyards are all completed. Each has a double, lock-up garage, video intercom, security alarm and ducted vacuum system. There is evaporative cooling to the first floor and wall hung split system on the ground floor. “These are ideal for people who want quality, but also want something that isn’t too big,” said Mr Nicolls. “When people view these properties they will see how much light comes into the homes. “The architect has done a brilliant job creating designs that take advantage of the way the blocks face and capturing all the light possible.”

SPORT Spoljaric: ‘Winning beats gongs’ By Nicholas Creely Cranbourne and Dandenong District legend Steve Spoljaric has claimed his fifth Alan Wookey Medal for the Turf 1 top-player, narrowly pipping his team-mate Matt Chasemore and Berwick all-rounder Jarrod Armitage for the top-gong on Wednesday 22 March’s presentation evening. The 40-year-old superstar continued on his stunning career in 2016/17, scoring 681 runs at 85.1, including three-centuries and a further 25 wickets with the ball. In what was an entertaining and somewhat bizarre acceptance speech, Spoljaric said that individual accolades mean nothing compared to the feeling of winning a premiership. “You don’t play for these things - last year’s grand final, that’s the fun part, the best part, and that’s with no disrespect to the umpires - the grand final we played last year, that was the highlight for me,” he said. Spoljaric described his training regime, or lack of, to the packed crowd. “Well, I live in Sale - it’s two hours away - to be honest with you, and this is just for a laugh, that Dandy West game (153 runs) was the first time I picked up a bat since last year’s grand final - that’s fair dinkum,” he said. But it could be the last time Spoljaric struts his stuff on the DDCA stage, with his involvements with greyhound racing becoming a major focal point in his life. “I’m not really sure - greyhounds are a priority, though, it’s quite busy preparing them all - I’ve never liked hard work and finally I actually have to do some, I am 40. “We’ll see what happens.” In what was one of the most interesting parts of his speech, Spoljaric was asked whether it was

Spoljaric put his success down to sensing moments, and simplifying the parts of the game so many others find difficult. “The better players will stand up in finals most people crumble under pressure but the bet-

Rangers show they still have plenty to celebrate By Nicholas Creely Although it was a disappointing finish to the season, there was every reason to celebrate for the Dandenong Rangers who held their awards night to honour some of the players who shone in an otherwise successful season. After both putting together equally impressive seasons on opposite ends of the court, soon to be sisters-in-law Sara Blicavs and Steph Cumming were duly awarded the MVP as the Rangers’ standout stars. Throughout the 2016/17 season, Cumming, 26, was stellar, averaging more than 17 points and four rebounds per match, as well as rating highly in the assists column with 3.3 per game. Blicavs was dynamic throughout the season, averaging 15.5 points, seven rebounds and a healthy 2.3 assist per game. Both were also placed inside the top-10 in the WNBL awards and can take their momentum into next season. In some other awards, Nat Novosel was awarded the coaches’ award in her return season at the Rangers. With injuries hampering her for the majority of the season, Novosel still had a major impact on the team’s wares with her professional attitude. Rising gun Amelia Todhunter was praised for her spectacular defensive efforts throughout the season, taking out the Defensive Player of the Year. Todhunter, the smallest player on the Rangers’ roster, was stellar against some of the league’s most damaging point guards, often shutting them down. Retiring legend and club favourite Jacinta Kennedy received her final award as a WNBL player, taking out the Janine Fielder Award for the team’s favourite player on-and-off court. It was another consistent campaign for Kennedy who regularly impacted at key moments throughout the season as well as helping assist the development of some of the club’s brightest stars. The Dandenong Rangers kick off their SEABL campaigns for both the men and women shortly, with both sides expected to be right up there in the championship mix. bowlers that get the wickets, it’s the pitches I play on that have got me - bowlers bowl the ball, I don’t think about who I’m facing - it’s the wickets this year, I’ve played on some pretty slow wickets - but just play the ball, mate, that’s the old rule.” Spoljaric’s teammate and last year’s Wookey Medalist Matt Chasemore was close behind after another stellar season, while Jarrod Armitage was brilliant in his first season at Berwick after crossing over from Springvale South. Damien Fleming, the former Australian player and Springvale South junior, was the night’s special guest, delivering a humorous speech on his test hat-trick on debut and the World Cup glory of 1999. Devil of a time for Demons By Nicholas Creely With the start of the football season drawing closer and closer, the anticipation continues to rise at certain clubs. For Springvale Districts, 2017 is all about improvement. When analysing their recent form-line, it seems like the club is spiralling downwards. After finishing fourth back in 2013, the Demons have been unable to break into the finals, with wins becoming scarce and the ability to remain competitive a challenge for the club. But a new season brings new beginnings, with the club making a series of strong off-field and on-field moves to climb back up the Division 2 ladder. Sean Francis has joined the club as the new president, and has already brought forward some new and energetic ideas. Francis replaces Rob Burns after four years at the helm, and will have Ben Francis (Vice-President) and David Pearve (Secretary) as other off-field leaders around the club. In terms of their recruiting, they have managed to retain the majority of their senior list while also bringing in a plethora of exciting players. Among them is Steve Comino, a former Dingley player who had a breakout 2016 season with Lyndale after moving across to the club. He is a key-position player capable of playing on either end of the ground. Daniel Morris, 25, is also another big coup for the club. A 2016 senior premiership midfielder with Dingley, Morris will add hardness and a touch of class to their line-up. More of the club’s recruits will be featured in the Journal’s 2017 football preview on 3 April.

Worm Burner delivers scorcher Former South Australian Worm Burner has made a stunning start to his career under the care of Jason Thompson, scorching around Sandown Park in 29.181 seconds on Thursday night. Worm Burner ($2.70) began cleanly and enjoyed a trouble free run to lead the field through the first turn. Showing the turn of foot that has made him one of the country’s most exciting - and most popular - chasers, Worm Burner extended his lead down the back straight before powering to the line 6 and 3/4 lengths clear of Gaucho. His time - the second fastest recorded in 2017 behind kennel mate Big Flood - was all the more impressive given the conditions at race time. A stiff head wind greeted the runners at box rise and in the run to the line, testing each runner’s strength as well as speed. While Worm Burner enjoyed a favourable box draw (he has now won six of his eight starts from box 7), Thompson is cautiously optimistic that there is improvement left in him. “He’s a quality dog and was drawn well, he went well,” he said following his new charges’ galloping exhibition. “Nothing has run that time over the 515m all night and there have been some nice dogs go around, so to see him do that is really pleasing. “I think he can run a couple of lengths faster, but in saying that you need the conditions, you need to draw your box, and that might never happen again. “You can only do what the conditions and box allows.” While Worm Burner is a proven big race performer - he is a Group One winner with over than $300,000 in prize money to his name - Thompson has opted to skip the rich Golden Easter Egg series at Wentworth Park in favour of the $61,000 Bill Collins Speed Star series at Sandown Park on Thursday 11 May. “He’s had a lot of runs around Angle Park and he likes that, but I think he’ll take to this track better,” he said. “He was unlucky in the Melbourne Cup (where
Trainer Jason Thompson with Worm Burner and race sponsor Paul Westerveld after a big win at Sandown Park on Thursday night. he ran third behind Ando’s Mac) so he knows his way around the track. So that’s the plan for him, just keep him here.” With last night’s win Worm Burner has moved
to the top of the Bill Collins Speed Star leader board and is all but guaranteed a start in the series. The top eight nominators qualify for the much anticipated match race series that sees grey-
hounds race in pairs, with prize money allocated to the winner of each match as well as the fastest times - a format tailor made for a greyhound such as Worm Burner.
Pressure on new-look Bulls to maintain their edge By Nicholas Creely As one of the most powerful and successful clubs in the Eastern Football League, there is a certain expectation when it comes to Noble Park. With an ability to attract star players to their club, the Bulls have never really had to deal with loss - until now. Club legends Stewart Kemperman and Craig Anderson elected to join other clubs in search of a new challenge, as well as the loss of several other key players, and the side expected to run out against a highly-touted Rowville in two weeks’ time is going to be drastically different. Bulls coach Mick Foggarty anticipates some challenges this season, but is confident his club can rise to the occasion despite less depth then they are used to. “We’re obviously really excited about the year, and the vibe is really strong - we’ve lost a couple of key players which never helps, and we’ll be a bit skinny in the midfield and ruck departments,” he said.
“Our defensive unit and forward line are both really strong, and we can’t wait for round one against Rowville - they’ve recruited well and it should be a great game. “At least eight or nine new players will turn out against Rowville; it’s going to look completely different.” Foggarty forecast that the majority of the newlook side will come from a historically successful Under 19s premiership team from last year. “Our Under 19s obviously won the flag last year, and they’re going to get some terrific opportunities to play senior footy - if that means we take a bit of pain throughout the year we will, because we want to expose them to this level - I believe in a few years they will be super players,” he explained. “I played six of the Under 19s in the first-half of last year and they did OK, so I’m not sure on the short-term impact, and we’ve got some strong on-field leaders that will help them and enhance their development - you just have to be patient, that’s the key.
“At local level, I firmly believe you have to let players play with a little bit of flair, they will definitely bring that.” It’s been a hectic off-season down at the Bullring, with the return of Jackson Sketcher to the club, the recruitment of hard-nut Brenton Wells from Narre Warren, as well as Luke Nelson, a talented former Berwick player. But the biggest signing was former Bull James Gwilt, who had a highly successful 150-game AFL career. “We’re rapt James chose to come back to our footy club, he always said he’d come back when his AFL career finished - we understand he had some huge offers elsewhere and he’s stuck fat and come back - when you talk about culture, that’s what inspires the young guys to dream big and get onto the park,” he said. “Jackson Sketcher is back so we’re excited by that - we know what he brings and it’s exciting.” The Bulls kick off their season with a clash against Rowville on 9 April.

Stingrays turn off the Power By Nicholas Creely TAC CUP - REVIEW - ROUND 1 A powerful first-quarter has seen the Dandenong Stingrays overcome a late Gippsland Power surge at Morwell Recreation Reserve on Saturday. With both sides featuring a glittering of new and exciting young talent, it was the Stingrays that looked the goods early, spreading the Power with some impressive passages of play. Last year’s minor-premiers were full of run early, showcasing some impressive skill along the wings. It all came down to work-rate for both sides, with the Rays peppering the attacking-50 and utilizing their abundance of tall-forwards, and took a vital 17-point lead into quarter-time. And just when it looked like the Power were climbing back into the contest via some impressive goals by youngster Will Broadbent, the Rays flexed their muscle and eventually climbed out to a 33-point lead at the major break. With temperatures soaring on a hot day in Gippsland, fatigue began to set in for both sides, with players cramping left right and centre, as the game became more of a battle of attrition. The Power then worked their way back into the contest through a duo of goals from Will Stephenson, while the class of Sean Masterson began to shine through in defence with some strong intercept marks. Heading into the last-term, the Rays held a relatively safe 25-point lead, and just needed an early goal to seal the deal. But if there was any sneaky hope of a shock win for the Power, it was quickly evaporated when young gun Dylan Morris kicked two impressive goals within five-minutes of the last-quarter to stretch the lead out to 38-points. Taking their foot off the gas, the Power then kicked the last four goals of the contest to bring the margin back to 14-points with minutes to go, before the Rays iced the clock with some of their most experienced leaders.

There was plenty to like for the Rays, with Dylan Morris excellent in attack with four majors, Tom Dekoning was a constant threat throughout, while their balanced midfield group took the honors and worked the Power over. DDCA TURF 1 - GRAND FINAL REVIEW Mordialloc and Heinz-Southern Districts were locked in a close battle on Sunday afternoon, in what has been an epic Turf 1 grand final. With the first ever stand-alone grand final in the association’s history, crowds flocked to Arch Brown Reserve in Berwick to see history in the making. Mordialloc elected to bat on a belter of a deck that had a little bit for both batsman and bowler, and from the outset it was obvious runs were gold, and that anything over 200 would be difficult to chase. Ian Daniel, the star all-rounder who has played some destructive knocks throughout the season, was on-song early with some piercing stroke-play, and raced away early to set the tone for the Bloodhounds. But when he was dismissed for a glorious 62, which included two massive sixes, the score was 3/81, such was his dominance.
Chathura Athukorala and teamate Stuart Squires take off for a run. 166487 Picture: ROB CAREW This lifted the tails of the Cobras’ bowlers, led by the swinging dynamo Kaushyla Weeraratne (3/61) and the ever slick Michael Davies (2/39), who then wrestled back control over the contest to leave the Bloodhounds at 6/129. Stuart Squires (54) then proceeded to play a true captain’s knock, despite the dominos regu-
larly falling behind him, grinding out some testing periods to lift his side to a highly competitive 220, with the last wicket falling on the last over of the day’s play. Hari Krishan (26) was also amongst the runs for the Bloodhounds, belting two sixes off Chadwick Van Estrop in quick succession. On the final day of the 2016/17 season, the Cobras were locked in an almighty battle, grinding out the first half-hour, with Squires and Chathura Athukorala steaming in and hitting relentlessly good lines. At the first drinks-break on day two, the Cobras were 1/22 off 15 overs, Adam Semmens back in the sheds after being trapped LBW by Daniel, needing a strong partnership to get back into the contest. Brad Downe and Rob Davies then set about building a partnership, reaching 1/40 off 33 overs heading into the lunch break. For the full match review, keep an eye on the Dandenong Journal Facebook page and website, with the full story to be published this week.

MOTORING Impressed by the feisty Impreza By Derek Ogden You don’t need a crystal ball to see what’s going on at Subaru over the next 10 years. The fifth generation all-wheel drive Impreza is based on the new global platform that will underpin all new models for the coming decade. The platform is 95 per cent new, so it’s a major step up for a company that is famed for engineering excellence. Subaru says that the Global Platform offers new levels of agility, crash protection, efficiency and enjoyable driving in a vehicle that sees the biggest step-change in Impreza since the original launched in Australia in 1994. Also debuting with the new Impreza is a 12,500 kilometre / 12-month capped price service program. Available as a sedan or hatchback exclusively with a continuously variable transmission, Impreza 2.0i sedan is priced from $22,400, plus onroad costs, with considerable upgrades in specification. The Impreza 2.0i-S hatch, the test vehicle, tops out the range at $29,190. The new Impreza is 10 mm lower than the superseded model and 35 mm wider, and maintains Subaru family features, including the classic hexagonal grille and hawk-eye headlights highlighting its wide and low stance. A further nod to the car’s heritage is a bold bar across the front grille representing a horizontally opposed engine, underlining Subaru’s Boxer engine history. Slim and sharp headlamps with a Cshaped motif boost Impreza’s sporty appearance. LED lights in the range-topping 2.0i-S include the latest functions such as steering responsive headlamps and LED daytime running lights.
The latest example of the popular Impreza holds the key to Subaru’s future. A style line dubbed the ‘dynamic blade’ runs the length of the doors, producing a distinctive sculptured profile while the windscreen angle aids aerodynamics, highlighted in the hatchback by a large rear spoiler. Every variant features an active shutter grille in the centre of the lower front bumper which opens and closes to control the flow of air through the engine bay and under the cabin floor, thus reducing air resistance and aiding fuel efficiency. An accentuated horizontal rear light set-up
boosts Impreza’s wide and low appearance and matches other new Subaru models. In the hatch, a lip is added to the outer lens indicator corner is part of the aerodynamic package. The latest Subaru Impreza has greater interior width and height. Wheelbase is increased 25 mm for greater legroom. Cabin width is up 29mm at the front and 34mm rear, and distance between seat centres up 21mm. Rear legroom is up 26mm. Textured stitching pattern, soft texture arm-
rests and extensive sound-deadening applied to almost every section make for quiet surroundings. At first the presence of three screens of information may seem daunting but familiarity takes away the fears and co-ordinated control and connectivity between the multi-information display and multi-function display, enhance operation and improve safety while driving. The simple layout of gauges and controls makes them easy and intuitive to control. In Impreza 2.0i-S the widescreen full colour MFD, situated in the top of the central dashboard, provides a stack of information, including Vehicle Dynamics Control and fuel efficiency, additional navigation information and an automatic display of essential information in pop-up screens. The LCD located in the instrument cluster, between the gauges, includes graphical information for driving and control, without the need to read, while the infotainment unit shows information including rear view camera display and entertainment information. Smartphone connectivity is available by way of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All Imprezas are powered by a 2.0-litre directinjection flat-four engine, producing 115 kW of power at 6000rpm, and 196Nm of torque at 4000rpm. Major improvements have been made throughout the engine, including higher power output in the most useful range. It has a higher compression ratio, better gas flow and high-flow exhaust gas system. Weight savings throughout the drivetrain add their part.
Unrepeatable savings. The very generous 2016 plate clearance. Every once in a while a sales event comes along with savings so exceptional they simply cannot be repeated.
