"The original merry go round; I want that reinstalled because I used to bring my kids out here to it - it's got to come back in. When asked if existing features would be replaced to make way for new attractions, Mr Ryan said: "No, we've got plenty of room here." The entrepreneur told the Gazette the State Government had not yet revealed how much cash it would commit, but he expressed his

gratitude for the ongoing support. It comes amid an explosion of tourism across Cardinia Shire and Gippsland, hosting 5.3 million visitors who spent an estimated $858 million in the year ending March, 2018. Cardinia mayor Collin Ross asserted council was working strenuously to streamline planning processes at Gumbuya World while still respecting the wider community. He said many residents have profound memories of Gumbuya Park, dating back decades. "Some people shared with me coming in

here that they came here when they were kids and they've got fond memories of the place. "They say this is like bringing a theme world to the area while still keeping a little bit of the original side to it. "Some people mentioned they'd love to have those toboggan slides in and I know Gerry has mentioned about preserving the past, but you need things that are interactive. "Kids that come here will have fun." The park this year celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Gumbuya World is set for a prehistoric overhaul as part of a $90 million revival, which will bring the Tynong attraction on par with renowned global theme parks. Upon completion in 2021, the "worldclass" destination will offer 50 new allures, including its own rendition of Jurassic World, an 80-room hotel, 50 "glamping" tents, a day spa, chocolate factory, micro-brewery and a helipad for cashed-up tourists. As part of the second stage, the park will introduce the dinosaur exhibition, a wool shed with shearing demonstrations, an Indigenous cultural centre, more rides and an expanded water park. Labor politicians congregated at "Victoria's Disneyland" on Thursday to announce the next two stages in the park's highly-anticipated revitalisation. Tourism Minister John Eren touted the project as a cash cow for the state's economy. "We estimate there will be over 750,000 people annually coming to this wonderful precinct," he said. "Forget the Gold Coast, forget Wally's World and forget Disney World - come to Gumbuya. "This is child heaven. "It is fantastic fun and it's so important to our visitor economy." The first stage of the park's redevelopment was completed in December, 2017. Since then, 200,000 people have visited Tynong to mingle with wildlife and brave the park's new monster water slides and thrill rides. It will create up to 485 new jobs once completed. "This is a fantastic offering for interstate and international visitors," Mr Eren added. Set on 166 hectares, Gumbuya World is currently home to more than 300 native animals including dingoes, wombats, koalas and emus. The founder of Jayco Caravans, Gerry Ryan last year purchased the site for $4.65 million as part of a syndicate alongside carsales.com.au director Wal Pisciotta and industrial developer Adam Campbell. Mr Ryan said his vision will see a renewed focus on education and a steady balance between traditional and new features. "We want to try and make it a four season park, not just two seasons," he said.
