MORE TO LOVE The editor’s desk For all our school leavers who begin their new lives this week, here are a few words from some wise people: "Your time is limited, don't waste it living someone else's life. Follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become." Steve Jobs. "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." Thomas A. Edison."Don't say to don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein." H. Jackson Brown Jr. "Success consists of going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm." Winston Churchill. Good luck for the future. ● - Margaret Maccoll

By Hollie Harris It's rare to indulge in a stage production full of children who are delivering original lines with such passion. The J is hosting a very special performance you will want to take the whole family along to see. 'The Lost Jewel' is an original musical proudly presented by Coast Academy of Song and Dance. The story follows a young girl who stumbles across a magical world where she discovers that all the characters she has read about and watched in movies are in fact real. With the help of her new friends, she must help defeat the evil witch who threatens to destroy their magical realm. It promises to be a show-stopping extravaganza filled with many classic tunes where students transport you to the make believe with their wonderful singing, acting and dancing to this magical script and popular songs that will have you clapping along and singing all the way home. SURF SCHOOL? OFF TO UNI Using technology such as drones and GPS devices, a one of its kind Noosa-focused course on the Geography of Surfing will give University of the Sunshine Coast students an insight into the science of surfing. As well as measuring the waves along the Noosa's point breaks students will conduct surveys to collect "surfonomics" information, to find out where and how much money surfers spend locally, which will be used to help local businesses better understand the economic benefits of surfing. Geography of Surfing course coordinator Dr Javier Leon said he believed the subject would appeal to students studying environmental science, management and tourism degrees. "The point of the course is to look at the relationships between Noosa's unique
Javier Leon rides the waves. surfing culture, the community and the environment," he said. "By the end of it, we'll be able to answer
questions such as what makes the waves around Noosa so great from a physical perspective. "But we also want to know who surfs the waves, and why they surf them, and how much money are they spending, and what it means for surfing culture in general." Students will also learn from surfing legends including former surf magazine editor and Noosa Festival of Surfing founder Phil Jarratt and surfboard shaper Tom Wegener, who completed a PhD on surfboard sustainability through USC. Dr Leon said students also would learn about emerging wave pool technology and discuss possible impacts of having surfing included as a sport in the Olympic Games. The subject will be first offered during the summer semester and again in Semester 1 2019. ●
BIOSPHERE DAY MARKS 10 YEARS OF GREEN BY MARGARET MACCOLL After heavy rain forced the cancellation of last year's Biosphere Day a few showers were not going to dampen the event organised at Kin Kin this Sunday by Noosa Community Biosphere Association (NCBA). NCBA president John News welcomed the community to attend the free day of activities held to recognise Noosa's designation as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO's Man and Biosphere program a decade ago. Guests tried out Ecotekk's electric bikes, listened to some live music, sought out information from various environmental organisations and joined in other activities. ●

FISH HABITAT DOWNGRADE REFUSED BY MARGARET MACCOLL The State Government has rejected an application from Habitat Noosa to downgrade the Elanda Point fish habitat area in order to build a commercial jetty there. The Discovery Group is in the process of renovating the site formerly known as the Elanda Point Education Centre and Adventure Park into an eco-centre. As part of the plan they wanted to build a 70m jetty. To do so required an amendment of Queensland's fisheries legislation to downgrade the area's fish habitat area status so an application for the jetty could be lodged. It would have required a downgrade from fish habitat area A, for strict management, to a B, where existing or planned use requires a more flexible management approach. Supporters of the project said it would have been good for tourism and reduce the number of high speed boats (estimated at 1500 vessel movements a year) travelling into the pristine area from Noosaville. A Department of Environment and Science spokesperson said the department assessed the information provided by Habitat Noosa's Wade Batty and the results of public consultation, and it recommended the request to downgrade the Noosa River Fish Habitat Area at Elanda Point be refused. ●
TOURISM AWARDS HIGHLIGHT THE NOOSA ATTRACTION The spotlight shone on Noosa businesses last week with many recognised across three award events - the Queensland Tourism Awards, the Adventure Tourism Awards and the Sunshine Coast Business Awards. RACV Noosa Resort won both the People's Choice Award for Best Accommodation and Gold for best Self-Contained Accommodation at the Queensland Tourism Awards held by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council on the Gold Coast. Australia Zoo won Gold for Major Tourist Attractions, Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival received Bronze in the Festivals and
Events category and Noosa Beach House received Bronze in the Tourism Restaurants and Catering Services category. Earlier in the week, for the first time, the youth and adventure tourist industry was recognised with the 2018 Adventure Tourism Awards Australia and New Zealand and 10 Noosa operators were named finalists. Kanu Kapers won the Green Award (Ecotourism), Halse Lodge won for Best Backpacker Accommodation in Queensland and Australia, Drop Bear Adventures Fraser Island Tours for Best Tour/Activity in Queensland and Australia and Backpack
Noosa won Best Youth/Adventure Marketed Destination in Australia. The Sunshine Coast Business Awards held at Novotel Twin Waters acknowledged the excellence of a range of Noosa businesses. These included: Laguna Pest Control for the Retail Category of the Year; the Food and Agribusiness Network for Social Enterprise; RACV Noosa Resort for Accommodation - Large Business; The Ginger Factory for Attractions - Large Business; the Australian Body Art Festival for Festival and Events - Small Business; and the Noosa Food & Wine Festival for Festival

Business operator Ikatan Spa deserves special recognition having recently received four prestigious - Haute Grandeur Hotel and Spa awards for Best Spa in Australia, Best Boutique Spa in Australia, Best Eco Spa in Australia and Best Signature Spa Treatment. Tourism Noosa CEO Steve McPharlin said there was no doubt of Noosa's tourism operators dedication to delivering the best service in their industries. " It is particularly pleasing to see such a diverse range of Noosa businesses being recognised for their efforts," he said. ● 201721004-LB21-17

THE RIGHT DIRECTION
I
t's exciting times ahead for the Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation according to chairman Dick Barnes as the foundation adjusts its focus to become more of a "think tank". Mr Barnes said with Noosa Council taking overall responsibility for the biosphere NBRF could focus more on coming up with ideas for projects, sourcing funds and making them happen. He said the foundation's three new volunteer directors, Deanna Lane, Greg
Schumann and Rex Halverson, who had signed on for three-year terms, matched the criteria they had sought almost exactly with their skills in governance, communication and fundraising. The new directors will bring the number of directors to eight as they join Clare Cartwright, Dr David Dique, Dr Karen Hussey and Noosa Council representative Cr Frank Wilkie. Noosa Today spoke to the new directors to find out more about them.
DEANNA LANE Your career has included roles advising CEOs and delivering executive education programs. What have been the high points of your career? Over the past 25 years, the high points of my career have been in inspiring and influencing people in the community to become interested and involved in their community whether through funding or by volunteering. I am particularly proud of the work I do mentoring emerging leaders
in assisting them to develop a philanthropic mindset at an early stage of their careers. What attracted you to work with the Noosa Biosphere? As a regular visitor to Noosa, I often drove past Noosa Biosphere signs particularly as I have always been interested in marine biology, the environment and how the community interacts with and preserves our natural assets. I am keen to contribute to the work of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation.

NEWS With your extensive experience in education how do you think the biosphere could better educate the community about the work of the biosphere and its significance to them? I have always taken the approach that when we experience something first hand it brings it to life more powerfully than through masses of documentation... finding innovative ways to engage the community will be a most effective way of educating them on the work of the NBRF. I also believe that we are experiencing 'donor fatigue' and people are bored when constantly being asked for money... but they are never bored when being inspired. Where do you live? I live in New Farm and visit close family friends in Noosa on a very regular basis, I also make day trips to swim in the pristine ocean beaches and to explore the wonderful retail and restaurant precinct in Hastings street. Are you a member of other community groups in Noosa? At this stage Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation is the only community group of which I am a member, however I have developed a keen interest in the Sunshine Coast. As a member of the Advisory Board of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra I have met people involved in the Arts including the local venues and also the University of the Sunshine Coast and Regional Economic Development Department of State Development.
GREG SCHUMANN What attracted you to work with the Noosa Biosphere? The reason we wanted to move to the Sunshine Coast was that my wife grew up on a cane farm near Yandina and her parents and siblings all still live in the area. Specific to Noosa however, I think the more you travel, the more you realise how special the Noosa Biosphere is. The location of the national parks with their flora & fauna, beaches and marine life, the Noosa river and lake networks, all close to internationally recognised Hastings Street is truly unique. Transport and traffic are significant issues for Noosa. Considering your current position as Director of Transportation and Green Mobility with ENGIE Services do you have any suggestions to ease Noosa's situation? First of all good transportation planning is key, especially given the growing Sunshine Coast population, increased tourism forecasts, and the changing landscape of technology. Obviously for the Noosa Biosphere the main transport challenge
is accessing Hastings Street, especially on weekends, public and school holidays. Road congestion, parking, and emissions make this a significant problem. Moving forward we will have to look at different ways to access this area, and they may include a number of solutions running in parallel. I think more remote parking linked with shuttle buses, on demand ride sharing services that only require drop-off and pick up (autonomous vehicles may have significant impact here), and cycling path networks will all be part of it. I would also like to think we will move to a zero CO2 emissions solution for our bus network as technologies improve both the cost and reliability equation. Which of the countries you worked in did you most enjoy and why? While I certainly found Asia and the Middle East interesting, its hard to beat living in the UK. Perhaps it's because I was raised on too many BBC shows. London is just one of the world's great cities with its history and vibrancy. On weekends and holidays my wife and I certainly enjoyed the green English country side, especially the lakes district for walking. Where do you live? I live in Castaways Beach. I feel pretty lucky being nestled between national park and the beach. Being a dog friendly beach, our dog is pretty happy with it too. Are you a member of other community groups in Noosa? Is so, what are they? My main sport as an adult has been doing ocean swims, so it was inevitable that I would end up joining a surf lifesaving club when I moved here. I look forward to the patrolling season as there is a real sense of camaraderie in the Noosa Surf Lifesaving Club. Also, as I drive an IRB I get to appreciate Noosa's marine environment up close which is pretty amazing, especially around the heads.
REX HALVERSON With your work in large and small business, marketing and communications how would you suggest the Noosa Biosphere could better engage with the community? As I'm just coming onboard it's a probably a bit premature for me to be making suggestions just yet. I can confirm though that I am a believer in the importance of communication - and that it's a vital element in fostering the understanding that leads to support and participation. The challenge today of course is while there have never been so many avenues for communication and engagement there is also no longer one best method
to reach everyone - and the sheer volume of information can reduce our ability to invest the time to fully comprehend and respond productively - especially to complex questions or initiatives that can't be summarized in a soundbite or meme. What attracted you to work with the Noosa Biosphere? Having lived and worked around the world I can attest this is a very special place. I've also experienced firsthand how easily and quickly that unique quality can be lost if we enough people aren't proactively working on maintaining a healthy balance between the economy and the environment. We can't easily affect what's going on in Canberra, London, Washington DC (or even Brisbane), however we can make a real difference in sustaining and enhancing the quality of life we all enjoy here - and the Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation offers me the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way. Considering your work with the Queensland Koala Crusaders how would you suggest the biosphere highlight koala conservation work operating in Noosa? Aside from the intrinsic value of enjoying koalas in our midst - something 99% of the world doesn't - in order to preserve the wild koala population we have to save enough of the forest upon which they depend. Which in turn means we will also be preserving over 1,000 other species of often threatened plants and animals we are also ensuring a healthy population of trees that clean the air we breathe and help reduce the impact of a changing climate. The extrinsic value of the koala shouldn't be overlooked either as they are a significant contributor to our (sustainable) local tourism economy - I also volunteer at the Noosa Parks Association Hut at the National Park and the number one question I hear there from visitors from around the world is "where can we see a koala today?" We have an opportunity to combine these two values by working collaboratively to define and develop initiatives that support our wild koala population (that everyone can enjoy) including developing additional local resources that can provide urgently needed care and research as well as provide additional benefits economically. Where do you live? Currently Sunrise Beach (previously Doonan). What are the other community groups in Noosa you are a member of? Noosa Arts Theatre, Noosa Chamber of Commerce, Noosa Region Koala Rescue Team, Wildcare, Noosa Parks Association
MENTORS BOOST OUR BUSINESSES IN SEVEN YEAR EFFORT Seven years down and 350 businesses given a helping hand is reason enough for Business Mentoring Noosa to celebrate. Group manager Julien Cahn said the mentoring group had 22 current mentors, all experienced business people, who give their time and share their expertise for free to benefit Noosa’s business community and help create employment. “They’ve been human resources managers in huge multi-nationals, some have run businesses worth hundreds of millions of dollars. "We’ve got forensic accountants, we’ve got those who’ve operated small business. It’s a wide variety,“ he said. “It’s a lot of terrific experience in business, and we’ve harnessed all this experience and given it to the community.“ Among those to benefit is Craig Taplin of Aussie Soles, a business that specialises in selling shoes, sunglasses and other summer wear across Australia, the USA, the UK and online, and was looking to expand. “It’s good to have that sounding board that you can bounce your ideas off and also discuss those different parts of the business that need to be raised,” Mr Taplin said. “They’ve helped me to focus in on the parts of my business that are important. “I have lots of ideas and, as an entrepreneur and business owner, you feel like there is a lot of things you can do, but it’s important to stay true to the business plan and execute things in order and not get side-tracked.” Business owners finding it tough can sign up at www.bmn.org.au and sign up. The cost is $200 for a year of mentoring. Business Mentoring Noosa will celebrate its successes at its seventh birthday at 9am on Thursday 22 November 22 at The J. ●

TRAVELLING FULL STEAM AHEAD BY MARGARET MACCOLL The BB18 and a quarter express engine 1079 steamed into Cooroy Saturday morning filled with about 300 rail enthusiasts thrilled to be travelling in the style of yesteryear. It's high back leather upholstered seats separated by a table into cosy compartments was reminiscent of a time when people travelled at a more leisurely pace and spent more time in conversation than on smart phones.
Australian Railway Historical Society member Ken Coulter said the society organised the popular Sunshine Express rail tours to the Sunshine Coast only about once a year. Ken said quite a few passengers on board came from the Noosa area where train travel was a novelty. He said the locomotive and its carriages which included a sleeping car would in its day have taken passengers from Brisbane to Cairns. â—?

Noosaville Business Association's newly elected president Joel Laventure predicts continuing growth next year after a 20 per cent spurt in 2018. Joel who took over the reins from former president Jim Lloyd last week said in the past year the association had grown from 75 to 90 members. He said with new buildings appearing and businesses merging with the industrial area it was definitely regarded as a growth area. In its aim to assist businesses the
association changed its meeting times from evening networking events to breakfast meetings Joel said better suited the businesses and had become quite popular. "Everyone's challenged, everyone is running their own business. We're hoping to link them together," he said. In a surprise announcement at last week's meeting Noosa 4 Sale principal Alex Harris offered to donate the shortfall of funds required to conduct the annual New Years Eve fireworks. â—?

COAST GUARD HONOURS LEON BROWN BY JIM FAGAN Coast Guard Noosa paid its own special tribute to former radioman and life member Leon Brown with a 23-man guard of honour at the end of his funeral service last Friday. Leon worshipped at St Andrew's Anglican Church at Sunshine Beach and it was packed with more than 230 family, colleagues and friends who wanted to say farewell to the 94-year-old who piloted fighters and bombers in three wars and was a tireless volunteer for Legacy and the Coast Guard. As his son-in-law Rod Stuckley said in his eulogy, "He was a man of many skills and talents and one who loved Noosa so much he would get up at early every morning to clear rubbish from our beaches!" "He wanted to make sure that the shore of his 'pool' was safe for all." Rod described how Leon graduated as a sergeant-pilot in 1943 and at war's end was posted to Japan with his 82nd Squadron, "When the Korean War started, he was attached to 77 Squadron initially flying his beloved Mustangs and then Gloster Meteors. "It was there he was awarded by Presidential Citation the USAF Air Medal for his 'outstanding ability, initiative and courage' on 30 operational flights in October-November 1950. "Between 1959 and 1963, at the height of the Cold War, he was seconded to the USAF, flying Lockheed P80's and B66 bombers
Leon Brown with a model of the B66 he flew during the cold war. between the US and Europe. "During this time, he became the first RAAF pilot to be trained in the noble art of air-refuelling." Leon came to Noosa in the early 1980's and worked mainly as a volunteer with two community groups Sunshine Coast Legacy and Coast Guard Noosa. He was honorary treasurer of Legacy for 34 years and a tribute to his work as an exserviceman was given by Graham Johnson, Tewantin RSL memorabilia officer. He presented to the family the flag of Australia, saying it was from the Australian Government in appreciation of Leon's service to the nation. Leon was also a member of the Coast Guard, joining in 1980, at first as a pilot on the boats and later as a radio operator. ●

SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SENIORS BY MARGARET MACCOLL Sunshine Beach State High School Year 12 students celebrated their last day on Friday in what has become a traditional dip in the ocean. This year the group gathered in a calm and orderly group before charging en masse into the waves. Almost as many parents and family members flocked to the beach to watch and record the event. A passing army helicopter flew over to take a closer look. While it was an end of an era and the beginning of a life ahead for the students it was met with a mix of sadness and joy by parents. "We can only hope he'll find his way," one mother said for her son who was planning to take a year off before going on to university. A number of parents were expecting their children to have a gap year before choosing a career path. Others already had their future mapped out. One mother said her daughter was planning to take up veterinary nursing and had begun while at school, having completing a Certificate II toward her studies. The students celebrate their end of year with the school formal Friday night and many planned to take off to schoolies. One group had booked a holiday in Bali with a number of parents going along to keep tabs on the teens. ●

Oral stories told by Australia's first people have passed on factual information for 7000 to 10,000 years but are in danger of being lost if they are not written down according to University of the Sunshine Coast geography professor Patrick Nunn. Last Friday Professor Nunn told guests at Noosa Parks Association Friday Forum how geological studies have "just confirmed" eye witness accounts that had been passed down intergenerationally through oral stories. Professor Nunn said studies have tracked volcanic eruptions and rising and lowering sea levels and connected them to various oral stories told by different tribes around the country. When the first people arrived here about 65,000 years ago the sea level was about 60m below what it is today and the gap between Australia and the Asia-Pacific was not so wide. Professor Nunn said researchers have
collected more than 20 oral stories that recall when the coastline "drowned" when the sea levels rose. He said dating the occurrence of the events to the stories have given them the time frame of 7,000 to 10,000 years which indicates how long the oral stories have survived. On Kangaroo Island, South Australia, a story is told of a man whose two wives tired of him and they walked across from the mainland to Kangaroo Island. He summoned the waves to rise up and drown them. They became petrified and became The Pages islands. The story indicates a time when people could walk to Kangaroo Island, he said. Professor Nunn said knowledge was the key to the survival of the first people. A knowledge of risks as well as information on preparing food and sourcing water was passed on through stories. He believes what we call rock art today were visual memory prompts. His findings can be found in his new book, The Edge of Memory. ● noosatoday.com.au

Dr Ian Jobling has been involved in the Olympic Movement since he saw his first Games in Melbourne in 1956 so it's fair to say he knows something about gold medals. Ask him, however, who he thinks deserves a gold medal more than anyone he knows and he'll tell you - "our school chaplains." "They are so vital for the wellbeing and emotional support of students. They are there for the disadvantaged, for children who are hungry, the homeless and those in need in times of crisis. "The sad situation is there is only enough Federal funding to keep them at school for one and a half days a week and I don't think that's good enough." So, Ian has decided to do some fundraising himself to keep the "Chappies" at school longer and is using his vast knowledge of the Olympics to do so. He is Director of Queensland Centre of Olympic Studies at the University of Queensland, as well as a founding member of the Australian Society of Sports History This Sunday he will talk on the early years of the Olympics and how Australia became involved. "I will cover each of the Olympic Games from 1896 to 1912. It will be the first of a series of talks. "While the focus will be on our swimmers, I will be showing lots of rare photographs like that of track athlete Edwin Flack who was Australia's sole Olympian in the inaugural 1896 Athens Olympics. "His story is fascinating as he won the 800 and 1500 metres. He didn't get a gold medal as winners' medals were not gold then." Profits from Ian's talk will go to the Sunshine Beach State School Chaplaincy Program and the Noosa Masters Swimming Club. "Australia at the Olympic Games—the Early Years." St Andrew's Church Sunshine beach. Sunday Nov 25. Refreshments from 4pm followed by the presentation. Tickets $10, students $5, on sale at door. CAPITAL GAINS TAX HIKE ON HORIZON There has been a surge in high-end Noosa property sales recently, with one holiday rental house in our street selling for a reported $3.75 million before the marketing program had kicked off. Now another holiday rental two doors down has just hit the market, and I think I know why the owners of rental houses are suddenly selling up and it relates to confusion over Labor’s proposed changes to negative gearing and Capital Gains Tax (CGT). If they sell before the next federal election, their Capital Gains Tax (CGT) bill will be levied on half of the net gain, provided they have owned the home for more than 12 months, and investor buyers will be able to negatively gear. But with the very real threat of a Shorten Labor government looming, they know future CGT liability for new investor buyers would increase by 50 per cent, if the profit runs into six or seven figures. That is big money. and a deterrent to future sales. Also, while existing investment owners would be 'grandfathered’ in Labor-speak, new investors will only be able to negatively gear if they purchase new properties and when they want to sell they will face the increased CGT, while the next buyer won’t be able to negatively gear. It’s a confusing minefield for owners, buyers and builders. John Mikkelsen, Castaways Beach
POWER OF PUBLIC OPINION I’m informed by our local member Sandy Bolton (and other sources) of the longawaited Ministerial decision to reject the proposed fish habitat downgrade at Elanda Point. This is an achievement which Noosa
can be proud of. The integrity of our threatened pristine river system has been spared from one more unnecessary intrusion by commercial interests. This is a benchmark decision which all of us who campaigned alongside Noosa Council to prevent this travesty will be celebrating. As an active participant in this campaign as well as the other successful local campaigns on de-amalgamation, the Traveston Dam and The Edge resort proposal near Kin Kin, I believe that this shows the true power of public opinion, especially when this is demonstrated in an effective and persuasive way. Our thanks go to all of you who took part in the Protect Elanda campaign as well as to our many supporters in the wider region and thanks also to Minister Leeanne Enoch for restoring our faith in your environmental integrity. Noel Bird, for the Protect Elanda Group, Boreen Point

nifer Lopez were topping global music charts. Aussie Lleyton Hewitt and American Lindsay Davenport were the top male and female tennis players in the world, and Lleyton Hewitt had started dating tennis player Kim Clijsters. Tiger Woods was the world’s best golfer. The year 2001 in film included the first of the Harry Potter series, the first of The Fast and the Furious franchise, the first of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the first of the Ocean’s trilogy and the first of the Shrek franchise. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman divorced in 2001 and Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were dating. The X-Files, Friends, Sex and the City, Will and Grace, Baywatch and Dawson’s Creek dominated television screens. Fashion trends saw the popularity of crop tops, low-rise jeans, large J’Lo sunglasses, Ugg boots, maxi dresses and skirts (I committed many crimes against fashion this year) and the men opted for skinny leg jeans and high-top sneakers. Hair dyed in contrasting chunks of colour was very much in vogue (guilty again). People feared receiving anthrax in the mail. There was much excitement with the release of Game Boy in colour. Ansett Australia collapsed. John Howard’s Coalition was re-elected in November 2001. Seventeen years later, we had The X-Files on television again and Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake are still releasing music. Some things never change. With artificial intelligence microscopes, ear print identity technology, modular selffit hearing aids, the collapsible car, the calorie food scanner, drone cars and self-driving suitcases all coming out of 2018, we know that the future for these graduates will be exciting, with limitless possibilities. I really understand about the message Tony Wellington is trying to get across; I too went to the screening of the documentary “Stop the Boats“ and it’s a good fight no doubt about that. We spoke to each other on the night. However, as an ex-pat of Manus Island I see things though a different set of eyes - the local village people of Lorengua have had a con job done on them by the Australian Government. These beautiful peace-loving islanders don’t deserve having this detention centre being placed in their backyard. While I was a kid the detention centre was an Australian strategic naval base. The locals loved having the visiting sailors come to their home and spend time mixing with them, playing with the kids and spending in their markets. It was great and beneficial to all concerned. Now it’s a disaster. The detainees of the detention centre don’t want anything to do with the locals and the locals don’t want anything to do with them (to say the least). Lyn and Danny who owned the timber mill (they have since moved to Madang) actually needed a handful of strong able-bodied men to help with an order (a paid job, on low wages I know) but could not get one detainee to volunteer. All they wanted was to come to Australia. Mate, I perhaps know more about the history of Manus (since the war and before) than anyone alive today. I’ve been back there several times. I still have a very good friend who lives and works there. This is a fact and not just a brag. I know when I asked a question at the Q&A after the screening stating I think your case would be stronger if you included the effects the centre has on the local people, I was brushed aside as it wasn’t part of the agenda, and maybe that’s OK but sometimes you need to look at the broader picture. You also need to hear what some of the objectors against your cause have to say - listen with an open mind - there is a message that needs to go out to the government, the Australian locals and the detainees themselves. There are many empty houses in outback towns and many farmers doing it hard. If we bring in lots more people we need food, energy, water, and jobs for them. The farmers urgently need more dams or at least to turn some of the water around that flows into the sea. These refugees must be prepared to fetch their own water and feed themselves - we Aussies can’t be excepted to do it for them. The Immigrants must be prepared to put their hands up and volunteer to help, drought-proof our farm lands, to help grow food, supply electricity, not just rely on welfare. I mean paid jobs. The stupid government must put up projects like a robust two-way pipe line to pump water inland if and when required. Instead of locking these people in detainee centres or moving them to take over suburbs in the cities - spread them out across our huge country with worthwhile jobs. I’m sure it would make them proud and love Australia and the Aussies would accept and love them. If they want to fight let them fight against the harsh, arid land with its floods, droughts and bushfires. We need all the people - the traditional land owners, Australians that live here, and those that want to come here - to unite and build our nation strong. We need broad outlooks, we need to agree to disagree, we don’t need people with single agendas, we need to do unto others as we would have others do unto us. Bob Jarvis, Noosa

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY WELL
RETIREES BENEFIT FROM SOLAR SALT property services understand that retirees would like a smooth transition into their retirement and there's a very simple way to invest and save money: Solar Energy Systems. By viewing your home solar panel system as an investment opportunity, homeowners are able to reduce - or even eliminate their electricity bills. To ensure stability, retirees and those planning to retire tend to invest in low-risk options. Solar panels provide consistent and increasing returns which are similar to the high returns that can be associated with traditional investments like stocks and shares - but without the unpredictable nature of those markets.

FINANCIAL BENEFITS INCREASED VALUES By installing a solar power system you're investing in your property. Various studies have shown that buyers are willing to pay more for homes that utilise a quality solar energy system.
LARGE BILL SAVINGS Solar greatly reduces, or even eliminates your electricity bill. Your solar power system can supply up to 100% of your electricity needs which can almost eliminate your bill and free up more money to save, spend and invest.
SOLAR INVESTMENT Many retired Australians tend to
There are big savings ahead for retirees using solar panels. spend more time at home and along with inevitable power price rises, this means retirees' electricity bills may increase substantially in the years ahead. Even for nomadic retirees; a solar panel system can generate income while you're away from home base through feed in tariffs. Call Tony or Triona, or visit them in Rene Street to discuss a Solar Energy system as part of your retirement plan. Support a local, experienced business who has been providing service to Noosa locals since the 1990's and be assured to deal with only them, every step of the way. EXCEPTIONAL GROWTH SEEN
12401755-SN42-18
WHILE Sydney and Melbourne property price drops and falling auction clearance rates have caused concern, markets across Queensland have performed "exceptionally well". Almost 70 suburbs throughout Queensland delivered double-digit growth in 12 months - 15 of them in Noosa and the Sunshine Coast - the latest data from the Real Estate Institute of Queensland's Market Monitor revealed. Many more delivered strong single-digit growth too. REIQ chief executive officer Antonia Mercorella said the latest data was an indication of steady and sustainable growth.
"It's a great market to be in at the moment," she said. In Sunshine Beach prices increased by 16.7 per cent, bringing the median price to $1.4 million. In Noosa Heads the median price increased by 16 per cent to $1.07 million, in Sunrise Beach the increase was 11 per cent to $820,000, and in Tewantin prices increased 11.2 per cent to $572,500. Mount Coolum (21.9 per cent), Yaroomba (19.7 per cent), Coolum Beach (11.2 per cent), Twin Waters (11.2 per cent) and Maroochydore (11.2 per cent) were among the top local performers. Houses in the exclusive river-side suburb of Minyama achieved the largest capital growth in the region, and the fourth-largest in the state, with a staggering 45.8 per cent increase to $1.31 million. Only eight of the state's top performing suburbs reported an annual median price range above $1 million, and all were located in Noosa, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.
But it was not just the south east corner that saw strong growth. "The top area delivering the strongest growth has been Blackwater (in Central Queensland), with 151 per cent growth," Ms Mercorella said. "This is a results of the resurgence in coal prices and the low base starting point." Spring Mountain (Ipswich) achieved a 103.6 per cent increase and Collinsville (Whitsundays) recorded a 46.2 per cent jump. Ms Mercorella said the spread of suburbs was a good indication Queensland real estate was delivering steady and sustainable growth across the board, but she cautioned against celebrating another boom. "While we're definitely seeing prices come back in western Queensland mining towns ... these prices are still below their peak," she said. "It's unlikely we'll see a return to pre-2013 prices in those areas anytime soon." ●
STRONG SUBURBS Minyama - 45.8% increase to $1.31 million Mount Coolum - 21.9% increase to $670,000 Yaroomba - 19.7% increase to $749,000 Sunshine Beach - 16.7% increase to $$1.4 million Noosa Heads - 16% increase to $1.07 million Pelican Waters - 13.9% increase to $761,000 Landsborough - 13.4% increase to $432,500 Coes Creek - 12% increase to $442,500 Battery Hill - 12% increase to $578,000 Maroochydore - 11.2% increase to $639,000 Twin Waters - 11.2% increase to $823,000 Tewantin - 11.2% increase to $572,500
Going strong: Property prices across Queensland have seen strong growth while other parts of the country face a downturn.

SEATTLE’S ZEPPELIN TRIBUTE SHOW BY HOLLIE HARRIS
The essence of a legend. Michael Anderson channeling Robert Plant is truly something else. 12402584-SN48-18
Led Zeppelin fans - be on notice. You are about to witness the legendary British supergroup in all its glory and excesses. Widely hailed as "the best Led Zeppelin band on the planet," (Dennis D'Amico, Exec. Prod. Paul McCartney), THE LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE, Hammer of the Gods Tour is pounding its way to a venue near you in October/November/December 2018, all the way from Seattle US. Rolling Stones magazine credited the band for keeping the Zeppelin spirit alive in a 2012 Collector's Edition of Led Zeppelin. This is an authentic reproduction of Led Zeppelin's ground breaking stage show, so faithfully recreated that original band member, John Paul Jones said that "I never have to worry about touring with my band again." The band, formerly known as No Quarter has been wowing audiences all over the world in their authentic tribute stage show for more than 15 years and has shared the stage with such legendary artists as Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Steppenwolf, Loverboy, Jefferson Starship and many others. Band members take on the characters of John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant and bring each of them to the stage in their absolute prime. This is more than a tribute act, THE LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE capture all of the subtle nuances and mannerisms of the characters they are representing just
like actors in a film. Fans who have seen the original band will think they have returned and will have the opportunity to relive the magic. Fans who never had the chance to witness the supergroup won't believe their luck and will finally get to experience the iconic and ground breaking stage show for the first time. "If in fact you have never seen the real Led Zeppelin in concert, seeing these guys live is as close as one can get. They have all the moves, they know every note of every song. It is just amazing how well they impersonate the real thing," John Tuckness, Daily Herald, Chicago. THE LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE, Hammer of the Gods Tour features Michael Anderson channeling Robert Plant on vocals - Nathan Carroll portraying drummer John Bonham, Chad McMurray playing bassist/multi-instrumentalist John Paul Jones and the fleet-fingered Byran Christiansen as Jimmy Page. The British supergroup famously refuses to reunite following the death of John Bonham in 1980 other than a one-off gig in 2007. THE LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE has stepped into the breach, keeping the band's fans satisfied and the spirit alive. Witness a moment in history come to life and don't miss the pounding, haunting experience of THE LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE, Hammer of the Gods Australian Tour. ●
Pseudo Echo have lost the big hair, but not the talent to deliver a killer performance.
PSEUDO ECHO AND 1927 BY HOLLIE HARRIS Two of Australia's most iconic bands are back again for one last time with their double-barrelled catalogue of hits and classic songs. After two years of National touring as one of the best double bills 1927 and Pseudo Echo are teaming up for one final series of shows. No Australian music fan can ignore or deny the impact of these two bands on our music psyche. Between them they share a catalogue of songs that are still heard on Australian radio and have accumulated awards and accolades along the way. 1927 formed in 1987 and went on to dominate charts with songs such as That's When I Think Of You, If I Could, Compulsory Hero and Tell Me A Story all of which were on the multi-platinum selling debut album ISH. ISH went on to become the highest selling debut release by an Australian artist and won two ARIA noosatoday.com.au
Awards - Best Breakthrough Artist - Album and Best Breakthrough Artist - single for That's When I Think of You. The video for Compulsory Hero took the Aria for Best Video at the 1990 awards. They continued to release music into the early 1990s before disbanding in 1993. PSUEDO ECHO were one of the biggest Aussie bands of the 1980's and influenced a generation of Australian musicians with their synthesised rhythms and dance beats. Their debut album AUTUMNAL PARK (released in 1984) featured hit singles Listening and A Beat For You, followed in 1985 with LOVE AN ADVENTURE and the singles Don't Go, Love An Adventure, Living in a Dream and the massive #1 single FUNKTY TOWN. Funky Town was also an international success - peaking at number 6 on the US Billboard Singles chat and #8 on the UK Singles chart. If you loved them then, you will still love them on Thursday, 29 November, 7pm. Tickets are $44.90 each. ● Thursday, 22 November, 2018

NOOSA TODAY 27
WHAT’S ON TIMES LIKE THESE The Imperial Hotel Eumundi welcomes two of Australia's most influential singer-songwriters to the stage on 1 December - John Schumann (Redgum) and Shane Howard (Goanna), playing with The Red Rockin' Dirt Band.John and Shane have recorded together on a number of occasions but this is the first time they are appearing together in concert. John is best known for his leadership of Redgum and his Vietnam veterans anthem, 'I was only 19'. Shane is best known for his leadership of Goanna and his powerful, evocative statement on behalf of indigenous Australia, 'Solid Rock'. Between them, there are so many other cracker songs too: 'Razor's Edge', 'I've Been to Bali Too', 'Talk of The Town', 'Poor Ned', 'In The Long Run', 'Heart of My Country' - the collective playlist sure is impressive. Howard and Schumann have also recently written and recorded a song together - 'Times Like These'. There are storm clouds on the horizon. They say that the so-called Leader of the Free World is busy dismantling the progressive work of decades. The conduct of Australia's own national affairs is marked by blinkered vision and political self-interest. No one believes in anything anymore. Howard and Schumann simply can't stand it anymore.
Legends John Schumann and Shane Howard will give a stunning performance in Eumundi 1 December. Times like these: who will raise a voice? For a start, these two raggedy poets will - John Schumann and Shane Howard. Hopefully, they won't be the only ones.
Tickets are $45 (+ booking fee) through Oztix or at the Imperial Hotel (Ph: 5442 8811) and doors open 7.30pm, Saturday, 1 December. ●
Don't miss this opportunity to see what will be a goosebumps performance capturing something essential of the spirit of Australia in words and music.

And until the end of December lunchtime diners can sample pork at its best at Noosa Springs' Relish restaurant - at prices that will delight them. The meals, which are all available glutenfree, come with a glass of Amadio pinot grigio, Ruby's rose or cabernet sauvignon, and cost just $25.

TNT FIRSTS HEADING FOR A WIN BY RANDALL WOODLEY After Day 1 of the 4th Round, two of the Tewantin-Noosa Thunder senior teams are on their way to wins, the other matches are in the balance but patient batting could get them home. The highlights of the 4 matches were an 87 by Ben Gear in First Grade, after his Second-grade century the previous Saturday and great bowling figures from Mike "Rowdy" Thomson of 7 for 17. FIRST GRADE: Playing away against the Maroochydore Swans, the RSL First Grade
team is in a strong position after a storm halted play early last Saturday. Winning the toss, Captain Jake Dennien decided to bat first on what looked like a very dry wicket and fast outfield. He and Ben Gear started positively until the Swan's opening bowlers were replaced by their spinners who bowled unchanged for the next 60 overs. When Jake was out, followed by another the team were 2 -41 after 10 overs. Jarrod Officer came and went with a breezy 18, followed by another 3 middle-order wickets. Troy Dennien pushed

Being 1 short in the field, TNT didn't want Coolum to give us a taste of our own medicine and the boys were inspired with the ball, with plenty of energy in the field. Harper, Mitch, Tom and Lochie all in the wickets defeating Coolum 8/82. U13 Storm v Coolum Sixers. Coolum were sent in to bat with captain Harry striking in the first over. While the wickets continued so did Coolum's runs, 5/90 at drinks. With improved effort after the break Coolum were out for 129 in the 26th over. Ethan Slaney took a brilliant one handed catch at slip and pick of the bowlers were Mack 3/7 and Ethan 2/24. Our early batters laid the ground work and the rest of the team went on with it to win, finishing 5/144. Top scorers were Tom Harmer 25* and Harry Caspers 23*. U15 v SC Grammar at home (Day 1). TNT bowled first and struggled to maintain a consistent line and length, SC Grammar all out with a solid 134 after 44 overs, with Daniel Connell 3/17 the standout. TNT then had an hour to bat and the openers did well to remain not out by the end of the day at 0/70 after 14 overs, Ben White 36 and Saif Malek 28 making the most of the conditions, setting up a solid base to continue on for Day 2 next week. ●

U11 Lightning away v Yandina. Yandina won the toss and elected to to bat. With wickets hard to come by TNT stepped it up in the field to support the bowlers, which led to Rory Ramsden taking an awesome catch sparking a mini collapse. Yandina finished with an impressive 4/115, Noah with 3 wickets, Rory taking 2. The TNT openers got off to a solid start, then Will Caspers took on the attack with 33 off 20 balls, leading TNT to victory with 6/126 to remain undefeated this season! U12 Lightning away v Nambour. TNT won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Baily and Morgan got off to a flyer, Bailey finding the boundary with ease. A string of quick wickets saw Piyush get the runs rolling again, with solid defence from Josh and Ollie at the other end. While not being bowled out, TNT were kept to a low total. Looking for quick wickets, catches found hand this week, Toby swallowing plenty. The game was close, with 1 wicket needed, but Nambour's retired batsman returned to secure the win. U12 Storm away v Cooroy Eumundi. On a slow pitch, CE were looking good at the back end of the innings at 2/74, but TNT applied the screws in the final overs to restrict Cooroy to only another 4 runs. Riley picked up 2/4, Hamish 1/6, Nick 1/4. Another all round team effort in the field boys. A 79 run chase seemed pretty straightforward but a slow outfield meant not as many boundaries as usual, though Aedan, Charlie H and Max still managed to crack out a few. TNT winning again 2/90, with 7 batsman retiring. U13 Lightning away v Coolum. TNT were asked to bat, and they started piling on the runs, a savage Luke Sheppard tearing them apart with 108* off 55 balls, including three 6's, supported well by Tom Longhurst 58*. whilst Tom (junior) was not out on 14. The pair added 63 which must be close to the record for a TNT First Grade last-wicket stand. With the storm approaching, the TNT bowlers were keen to pick up a few wickets but after 10 balls and one of the Swan's opening batsman out to Freshwater, the umpires called stumps. Next Saturday, the strong TNT bowling attack will be all out to take the remaining 9 wickets and put Maroochydore into bat a second time. ●

At 8 for 161, Scott Aufderheide (18) joined Tom Freshwater and they put on a fast 36. When Scott was out LBW, at 9 for 197, teenager Tom Stewart came to the wicket and the "Toms" demolished the Swans bowlers who had taken the new ball after 80 overs. LIFE OF BRINE
PHIL JARRATT
BACKPACKER PACKS UP ITS BAGS It was the end of an era in our 'hood last Saturday night when our neighbours across the street at Noosa Backpackers Resort and the Global Cafe appropriately cranked up the volume and let her rip for one last time. The dismantling began 48 hours later. I'm sure there'll be some in our street who will welcome the serenity that will surely follow - after the long months of construction, of course - the departure of all those young people from around the world who want to party and have fun, but I'm not one of them. Even though we've lived on the street - off and on - for 20 years since we bought a townhouse off the plan, the backpackers was a Noosaville institution long before we arrived, and it remained so right up to the end. We raised a glass with Tony Blackmore, the founder, the other night and reminisced about the place's many different incarnations over the years. When we settled in Noosa in 1990, it reveled in the name Bratpackers, and the outrageous Brett Massoud and his kitchen crew served up excellent and mostly vegetarian fare in a warm and friendly space. Of course, Brett being Brett, some dinners did kick on and get a bit wild. That spirit seemed to prevail over most of the bars and cafes that later inhabited the space. There were very few rules, although I do seem to recall that on one night of high excitement it became one of only three - ah, maybe make that four - Noosa establishments I've been kicked out of. At one stage in the '90s we were running two businesses - a magazine and a surf festival - out of our rumpus room across the street, and on many a night as we worked late against deadlines, delicious Thai curries and laksa would be ferried across to us. Ah, those were the days. But time marches on and the days have been numbered for the only commercial premises on our street for some time. At least its redevelopment is in the hands of Jim Tatton, a man of discerning eye whose previous developments have done Noosa proud. I just wish I could convince him to keep a grungy little bar cafe in his plans, for old time's sake. Farewell to a working class sailor Considering the fact that he once owned 500 houses in inner Sydney, it was a bit rich to label him a working class man, but when Jimmy Barnes belted out that signature song in honour of Clean Up Australia founder
Barnesy pays tribute to Ian Kiernan. Photo supplied.
A chair for the champ. Photo WSL. Ian Kiernan at his State Memorial at the Opera House last Friday, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. As friends and family noted in their eulogies, money never meant a lot to Ian. To him, life was just one long adventure. When his property business crashed and burned, he just jumped on his yacht and sailed away. And yet an ambition to change the world for the better developed and burned in him for the second half of his life. That was what we celebrated last Friday, a huge mob of us, from commoners and columnists to captains of industry and politicians spanning several eras, from Keating to Berejiklian. And of course the stayers among us ended up messy and emotional at a yacht squadron on the harbour. The man we knew as "Bicky" would have expected no less. Bicky's daughters Sally and Pip told me that he'd passed away in peace listening to Jimmy Buffett as a perfect sailing breeze blew in from the harbour. I was happy to

Life's too short to watch the million and one events on the qualifying tour, but I do try to catch a bit of the Hawaiian Triple Crown, including the thrilling final of the Vans Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa last weekend. I actually tuned in as Joel Parkinson was holding on bravely in the second semi to just scratch into the final, where he was yesterday's hero up against a few of tomorrow's megastars. I didn't really fancy his chances, and I don't think Parko did

either. But as the hooter sounded, the messy ocean cleaned up, overhead sets rolled through and the old Coolie kid went to work. Joel is the last man standing in his generation of outstanding Queensland surfers, and in a few weeks' time, after the Pipe Masters, the 2012 world champion will be hanging up the quiver and retiring to the Goldie to his pipe and slippers. Yeah, like surfers ever really retire! But hold the phone! The final's barely begun and Parko's clocked a power-punchy near-excellent ride. Soon all four finalists Brazilians Mateus Herdy and Deivid Silva, and Kiwi Ricardo Christie alongside Parko had clocked up scores in the excellent range, the feisty 17-year-old Herdy taking to the air to counter Parko's power hacks. But the old bloke was too good. Now, on his world tour lap of honour, Parko is in with a chance to pick up his fourth Triple Crown. Wouldn't that be cool! ●

OUR BUSY YEAR IN COMPETITION At the recent round 2 of the Ocean 6 NutriGrain Iron Man Series held at Coolum Beach local clubs Sunshine Beach and Noosa Heads were well and truly in the mix for medals: looking back all indications are for a good championship season. In a wide break and moderate surf, contestants were faced with a long swim plus hot competition in board and ski sections. Sunshine coach Josh Minogue is very happy with his teams results. "For such a small club and competing against some of the best in Australia our results have been great. Once again Ruby Nolan has shown that she is one to watch; and Oliver Emanuels effort on the single ski is also worthy of note." Ruby finished in first place in the u/17
iron woman, second in the u/17 ski and sixth in the open swim: for Olivia to contest the ski final was an outstanding effort. In the u/15s Abbie Tolano won the swim and Francesca McKinley took third in the u/15 iron woman and Charlotte Lethbridge was second in the u/17 board. Despite not winning a medal in the final of the woman's open Taplin relay the fact that Sunshine made the final was definitely an achievement. Interesting to note that despite the swim being long with a wide break, the overall performance of their swimmers from u/15 to the opens has been very solid. For Sunshine supporters this will come as no surprise for down through the years they have constantly produced top class surf swimmers.
With an open big surf beach such as Sunshine for training, backed up by a good coaching panel results are assured. With a new clubhouse on the drawing board and big hearted members to fill the competition ranks anything is possible. We wish them well. Noosa also had a good carnival with Nick Sloman of the swim section being outstanding. For Nick it was a first in the open surf swim, second in the run swim run and along with open male Taplin clubmates Rhys Burrows and Rayan Paroz they combined to win the gold. "The Taplin was a great result." said Surf Sports Director Peter French, "This was the second time that our boys have won this prestigious event." Another major win for
HOOK, LINE & SINKER
Noosa came in the open ladies surf race when Lana Rogers won gold. The open iron woman final was tough. Despite severely injuring her foot in the run, Jordan Mercer finished fourth and her two team mates Electra Outram and Lana Rogers finished 11th and 13th. For Lana, the Coolangatta Gold which saw her win 3rd place has definitely taken its toll: in winning the womans open surf race she showed a lot of heart. For Electra Outram 16 her effort in qualifying for the open final is a good omen for the future. After many years of being also-rans, for Sunshine and Noosa these results are gratifying. A big well done to all involved is indeed appropriate. â—?
JACK MANGROVE
GOOD WEATHER TO HEAD OFFSHORE AND DROP A LINE With the weather giving us a couple of opportunities to head off shore last week plenty of quality fish were reported - plenty of mixed schools of reef fish like snapper, pearl peach and trag jew from North Reef and Chardon's Reef. On Sunshine Reef spotted mackerel and the odd spaniard were showing up, with the majority of the action being around bait schools. Trolling hard body lures is a great way to cover ground while you are making your way to your favourite fishing ground. When you pull up, the good old pilchard floater has been working well with most of the pelagic's swimming mid water. Another species of fish that is hanging around the bait schools are long tailed Tuna. These fish are a great test for anglers and can really stretch the arms. For the Angler that did the run out to the Barwon banks or up to Double Island some bigger snapper and pearl perch were the rewards. In the river, mangrove jack are still in great numbers, getting up early and heading up the river pitching hard body lures at the banks is a perfect way to target these fish, these are perfect on the baitcaster, using a baitcaster outfit will give you the pinpoint accuracy you need to get close to the snags where these red devils love to live. Live baits at night have seen some bigger fish taken from around the Noosa Sound and bridges. Elsewhere in the river, there has been some good size whiting getting caught in the shallows of the frying pan and Weyba creek. Good flathead have also been inhabiting the same area, prawns worms and yabbies have claimed a good number of the fish. For the lure angler's small poppers worked across the flats have claimed some nice whiting while plastics in pink and chartreuse have been great on the flathead. Crabs are also plentiful in the upper reaches of the river, remember to set you pots in deeper water near mangroves as we have had a little fresh over the last week. Don't forget the regulations as fisheries are right on to it, only 4 pop per person in the boat, you can only take the bucks and they must make size, 15 cm across the widest point of its carapace. On the beaches the dart are everywhere. This is great fun for the kids with a small noosatoday.com.au
Kris Lyndsey with a quality snapper from the banks. piece of pilchard or a prawn on a size four bait holder hook cast into the gutters will almost guarantee a fish. Whiting, flathead
and bream have also been taken from the surf. As we move into the bigger morning tides we should also see some nice tailor and
jew first thing in the morning. So on behalf of Jack Mangrove, best of luck on your fishing adventures!
