CHARITY CASH FOR CRISIS CENTRE By Kyra Gillespie

A CASH injection from an annual charity drive has further propped up the 4C’s Crisis Relief Centre in its time of need. Hundreds of local lycra legends took part in The Slog, the shire’s biggest annual charity ride on November 17. The charity ride, which began at Chairo Christian School in Pakenham, raised over $50,000 for the 4Cs. This year, riders could choose between a 30km, 80km, 100km and 160km depending on fitness abilities. The Slog has become one of the biggest fundraisers for the 4C’s Crisis Relief Centre, raising over $400,000 since the first ride. “This money has come at an opportunistic time,” 4Cs Manager Cheryl Daly said. Of the $50,000 raised, a whopping $24,316 was raised by Team Neilson

Partners. “This year our company had nine riders in The Slog,” Partner and Senior Property Consultant Matt Clark said. “The money was mainly raised through jersey sponsorship and a fundraising night at Carlei Estate. “The silent auction at the fundraising night was a huge success. The local businesses this year really stepped up with over $10,000 worth of goods and services donated such as helicopter rides, generator, paintings and homewares to name a few.” “We have been a long-time supporter of the 4C’s with over $60,000 raised through The Slog over the last three years alone. “The money will go directly back into our local community helping those most in need.” The Slog is organised entirely by volunteers, with 100 per cent of entry fees and sponsorship donated to the 4Cs. ●
