All fundraising initiatives of Fight MND has raised over $37.6 million in total which has been committed to research initiatives in order to help find a cure for this disease. Motor Neurone Disease affects the muscles that control speaking, breathing and swallowing by degeneration. The average lifespan is two years from diagnosis with only 10 per cent living longer than five years. Neale was diagnosed in 2013 and is still very hands on attending most fundraising events including the “Daniher Drive”. Brett’s involvement came about through a close friend losing a family member to MND. The team was named Robyn’s Rollers in her memory. FROM 10-13 October, Brett Stanley along with three of his colleagues from Black and White Real Estate in Healesville will again be hitting the road in the ‘67 Chevrolet Impala to participate in the Daniher Drive to raise funds to fight Motor Neurone Disease. One hundred vehicles of all descriptions from across the country will take part in the four-day drive, which this year starts at Werribee Zoo, travels to Creswick, on to Wangaratta, driving through Healesville on the Saturday to finish at Mornington on Saturday night. The vehicles stop at many country towns along the drive as well as holding evening events to raise valuable funds for research and to fight what Neale Daniher calls ‘The Beast’. Many will know Neale from his involvement with AFL football both as a past Essendon player and previous Melbourne coach. Neale’s four brothers, also previous Essendon players as Bombers faithful would know, also take part in the events.
