Memories in the bank

The last post For 36 years, Ann and Greg Harry have offered more than just a reliable and friendly postal service to Gembrook. They have been the conduit of the small town, keeping everyone informed on local issues, organising fundraisers for people in the community and welcoming through four generations of families. Last week, Ann and Greg had their final delivery as they headed into a well deserved retirement. You’ll still have a chance to catch them as they assist with the hand over of the business to the new owners. STORY PAGE 5

Serving the local community is what Julie Palmer knows best and after decades of investing in others with the Kooweerup Bendigo Bank branch, she is excited to start the next chapter of her life and invest a bit of time in herself. After over 15 years working at the Kooweerup community bank, Julie clocked off for the final time on Wednesday 29 September and is looking forward to her next venture - a very well-earned retirement. “I’m quite excited to move on to this new opportunity,“ Julie said. Town centre up for sale Land ready to be developed into the new Clyde Town Centre is now for sale by Burbank Group’s National Pacific Properties (NPP). It is believed the price expectation is north of $60 million. NPP general manager Tom Trevaskis said NPP has maximised the value of the land by securing planning approvals and bringing services to the land. “This is a unique opportunity. Very rarely do sites like this go on the market. Even rarer with approvals in place,’’ Mr Trevaskis said. STORY PAGE 11

A Covid wake up Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton announced on Monday 4 October that tier 2 sites would gradually be phased off the DHHS website in coming days, as priority moved to tier 1 listings. Bass MP Jordan Crugnale encouraged all members of the local community to roll up their sleeves and book in for their vaccines as

soon as possible, in order to curb the spread of the virus. “The rise in Covid numbers we have seen lately is a wake up call,“ she said. “Now’s the time to talk about the urgency to get vaccinated.“ This comes with the news that Federal

Monash MP Russell Broadbent has not yet received a Covid-19 vaccine. A spokesperson for the MP said, “Mr Broadbent has not been vaccinated against Covid-19 but is open to being vaccinated should a vaccine that is acceptable to him become available.“ STORY PAGE 3

Cardinia Shire is nearing the 200 mark for active Covid cases in the community, as the virus continues to spread throughout the state. While contact tracers and the DHHS website struggles to keep up with the number of new exposure sites, the community has continued to band together to inform one another of new listings.
