Human remains have been found in the search for bodies of Pakenham woman Carol Clay and her camping companion Russell Hill, of Drouin. Victoria Police made the announcement Tuesday 30 November that they had located human remains in bushland near Dargo as part of their ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Russell and Carol. The remains are yet to be formally identified and it is expected this process will take some time. Victoria Police’s Missing Persons Squad Inspector Andrew Stamper was heading up the operation, with assitances from Missing Person Squad detectives and specialist resources including Search and Rescue and Major Crime STORY PAGE 2 Scene Unit.

You couldn’t wipe the smile off Dot Wade’s face on Monday morning, as the kind gentlemen at the Cardinia Men’s Shed Pakenham unveiled an extra special gift for her. The 97-year-old Dandenong RSL member and devoted Remembrance poppy seller was over the moon when the local club reached out to her recently, wanting to give her a handmade present. After seeing her story on Channel Nine for Remembrance Day, the men created a beautiful, bespoke wooden box for her late husband Jack’s war medals - a gift that Dot said had touched her heart and would soon sit “pride of place” in her home. Harvey help The Victorian Livestock Exchange in Pakenham was bustling with activity on Thursday 25 November, as people from far and wide came together for a very special event. The sounds of mooing cattle and commanding auctioneers were joined by rattling tins last week, as the local community joined forces to fundraise for Willowmavin teen Harvey McKeever and his family - and the day was undeniably a huge triumph. After all the challenges the McKeever family have faced over the past year, the family of four were moved to tears by the show of love and support that was on display for them at the cattleyards on Thursday as everyone rallied to lend them a helping hand in their time of need. Firm ‘taken down’ A Pakenham based water and sewer infrastructure specialist is in liquidation following a pay dispute with the North East Link Project. Quinn Civil was hired as subcontractor for

the North East Link Project but say unforeseeable variations in the project, as well as Covid shutdowns, saw the scope of the project increase by millions of dollars above the intitial tender. Quinn Civil spokesperson Raelene Quinn

said the company was forced into liquidation after not being paid for approximately $18-20 million worth of variations by major builder CPB. “It’s just a big black hole,” Ms Quinn said. “They’ve just taken down a 60-year-old

company that’s been around forever, built from nothing over many many decades.” Ms Quinn said the variations were not part of the original contract and were not foreseeable. STORY PAGE 3
