Main St could go one-way Cardinia Council has floated the idea of potentially implementing one-way traffic along Pakenham’s Main Street as part of a $2.4 million refurbishment project. At a recent meeting, Ranges Ward councillor Jeff Springfield moved an alternate motion to endorse the Public Realm Strategy as part of the Pakenham Revitalisation Project, while also further considering the potential of oneway traffic, undertaking further assessment of the viability of one-way traffic and commencing engagement with the community. Road revamp cash secured The Pakenham Roads Upgrade and Berwick’s Clyde Road Upgrade will go ahead as the Federal Government published its long-awaited infrastructure review which confirmed hundreds of millions in funding will be retained for improving local roads. Thousands of livestock will cease to flow through Pakenham, as it was announced the Victorian Livestock Exchange will close next year. The VLE told agents and staff on Monday 20

November that the Pakenham site would have its last sale in June 2024, ending 25 years of operation. Chief executive officer Brian Paynter explained the decision came as the financial operation of the site grew unviable.
