Lang Lang truck concern The ever present bustling of trucks through Lang Lang’s narrow streets has got the Cardinia Shire Council airing concerns, prompting renewed calls for a truck bypass. With the large infrastructure projects in the South East, trucks moving to and from Lang Lang, particularly transporting from its sand quarries, the council is concerned for potential increase with the level of projects throughout the wider area. “Cardinia Shire Council continues to advocate for funding support for a Lang Lang bypass, which would help to divert heavy vehicles away from the town centre, schools and pedestrian activity,“ the council’s general manager Infrastructure and Environment Peter Benazic said. Decade-long allegations A former teacher has faced court on 29 charges, including multiple child sex abuse allegations spanning more than a decade. Nicholas O’Shea, 30, of Pakenham, appeared in court on Friday. According to charge sheets released by the court, his alleged offending occurred in Endeavour Hills, Narre Warren, Edithvale and Pakenham between 2012 and 2023. STORY PAGE 4
Festival delight Last week’s storm did little to deter crowds for the Upper Beaconsfield Village Festival which was held on Sunday 18 February. Cardinia Shire Council has made a renewed push for Officer’s commercial development as they finalised the final future design plan for the town-centre after years of little development and investment.
In the council’s first general meeting for the year, the first agenda item was for the Urban Design Framework for Officer’s Major Activity Centre. This is an addition to the Officer Precinct Structure Plan for the larger town ship which was approved more than a decade ago in 2011,
