Banana Bread

• 1/2 cup butter • 1-1/2 cups sugar • 3 mashed bananas • 2 eggs, separated into yolks and whites • 1/2 cup sour milk (mix milk with 1 Tbsp.

vinegar) • 1 tsp. soda • 1/2 tsp. baking powder • 2 cups fl our • 1/2 cup nuts

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Mix all ingredients except egg whites together. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff ; fold into fi rst mixture. Pour into two greased loaf pans. Bake one hour.

Apple Küchen

• Crust: • 1 cup fl our • 2 Tbsp. sugar • 1/4 tsp. salt • 1/2 cup butter

Filling: • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced • 1/2 cup sugar • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Topping: • 1/2 cup fl our • 1/2 cup sugar • 1/4 tsp. salt • 1/4 cup butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix crust ingredients together and press into an 8-inch square pan; bake 10 minutes. Mix fi lling ingredients and pour over crust. Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over top; bake 45-55 minutes.

Embellish a Cake Mix

• 1 cake mix of choice (ignore ingredients on back of box) • 1 small package instant pudding mix, chocolate, vanilla or

lemon • 3/4 cup water or milk • 1/2 cup vegetable oil • 4 eggs • 8 ounces sour cream

Mix all ingredients together well and bake according to instructions on the box. A very good and rich cake.

Creamy Grape Salad

• 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened • 1 cup sour cream • 1/3 cup sugar • 2 tsp. vanilla • 2 pounds seedless

green grapes • 2 pounds seedless red grapes • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar • 3 Tbsp. or more chopped pecans or walnuts

In large bowl, beat cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla until blended. Add grapes and toss to coat. Transfer to a serving bowl. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Sprinkle with brown sugar and nuts just before serving.

Pineapple Pretzel Fluff

• 1 cup coarsely crushed pretzels • 1/2 cup butter, melted • 1 cup sugar, divided • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened • 1 (20-ounce) can crushed

pineapple, drained • 1 (20-ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained • 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine crushed pretzels, butter and 1/2 cup sugar and press into a 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake for 7 minutes; set aside to cool. Mix cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar until creamy. Fold in pineapples and whipped topping. Chill until serving. Break pretzels into pieces. Before serving, stir some in and sprinkle some on top.
