SAUK RAPIDS – The Sauk Rapids-Rice High School bands performed their midwinter concert Feb. 28 in the Performing Arts Center at SRRHS in Sauk Rapids. Directed by music teacher Zach Sander, the concert featured performances by the jazz, varsity and concert bands. The 19-member jazz band performed “Cream of the Crop,” featuring solos by Lucy Ahles (trumpet) and Bethany Mears (piano), and “Tastes Like Chicken,” featuring solos by Andrew Dusek (alto saxophone) and Milena Kolbe (tenor saxophone). The 33-member varsity band performed “Ankh of Eternity,” featuring solos by Damin Backen (alto saxophone), Hayden Bauer (trumpet), Logan Friesen (tuba), Tristan Motsko (trombone), Erika Henke (alto saxophone) and Kolbe (tenor saxophone), as well as “Zigzag” and “March Slav.” The 73-member concert band performed “Three Places in the West” and “Ruckus.” A recording of the concert can be found at the SRR Activities YouTube page.
