Editor’s Note to the reprinted edition: In reassembling this Religion in Life Curriculum, we thought it best to include excerpts from the curriculum overview volume, titled Curriculum in Religion, which was published in 1931 as the basis for development of the fleshed-out Teachers Plan Book and Manual before you. In that original volume, the entire curriculum for first through eighth grades were laid out in basic outline form, with attention given to the main focus, goals and resources for each grade. You may find that some of the resources listed in these excerpts did not find their way into the current manual. However, we felt it would be helpful to the teacher (or parent) to see a summary of the intended vision for the current year. In the appendix found at the rear of this volume, we have also provided a comprehensive listing of all the recommended resources found in this manual, to which we have added notations showing the most frequently used and/or most helpful resources, as well as those which can be found online. Lastly, please note that most of the recommended student readings (that is, those which would have been found in the various school readers listed throughout this book) have been assembled and printed under one cover in the new Magnificat Readers which accompany this series.
