A Message from the President of the FTDNC: Kevin Davis On behalf of the entire Foothill Trails Neighborhood Council, I would like to extend holiday greetings to all residents of the hillside communities. As volunteers elected from among those who live, work or own property in La Tuna Canyon, Lake View Terrace and Shadow Hills, the FTDNC advocates on the area’s behalf and works with various government and community agencies. If you want to be heard, then we want to hear from you. The general meeting is on the third Thursday of every month at 7 pm at the Lake View Terrace Recreation Center. Come by and see what we are all about! Remember, decisions are made by those who come to the table. The neighborhood council will be having elections for new board members in April. But it is hard for us to speak for you if you do not talk to us!
Run, Why Don’t Ya? Foothill Trails District Neighborhood Council Election Time Approaches WHAT ARE NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS? Neighborhood Councils are City-certified local groups made up of people who care about their community. Neighborhood Council Board Members are elected or selected to their positions by the people in the respective neighborhoods themselves. Neighborhood Councils hold regular meetings where board members and stakeholders review various topics and address those which affect their neighborhood. Your Neighborhood Council’s structure is defined by your community’s input.
WHO CAN RUN TO REPRESENT THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD? You can if you: live, work, rent or own property, attend school, worship, volunteer, or participate in an organization that meets in and/or serves that neighborhood. Each neighborhood has unique board seats designed to represent its diversity. Go to www.clerk.lacity.org/elections to see a list of available board seats for election.
HOW TO RUN... Attend general and committee meetings to familiarize yourself with the organization. Visit the Election Division website: clerk.lacity.org/elections to determine when the next candidate filing period for a specific Neighborhood Council will begin. On the site you will also find instructions on how to become a candidate and the specific requirements for the different board seats in your Neighborhood Council. You can subscribe to receive Neighborhood Council related updates. The FTDNC election will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019 If you have any questions, kindly visit www.EmpowerLA.org and/or please call (213) 978-0444 or email the LA City Clerk at Clerk.ElectionsNC@lacity.org

FTDNC Areas Community News
A Message from the Lake View Terrace Improvement Association President: Eli Wells To all of the LVTIA and surrounding communities, Thank you for your support in our endeavors to make Lake View Terrace a safe, quiet, livable, equestrian friendly, sustainable, historically open, neighborly and loving community. We are approaching one full year since I took the reigns as president and we are very active in the things that affect Lake View Terrace in a positive way and ask that even more residents would join in and be a part of our association. We have annual association dues that will be due and ask everyone not to forget to renew their membership to help us be a viable and effective association. In gratitude, Eli Wells, President Lake View Terrace Improvement Association Serving the Community Since 1940 Website: lvtia.org
Believe it or not, there is cause for jubilation and celebration! The local civic organizations have accomplished much. Via active community members working in collaboration with local law enforcement, government, and nonprofit agencies; our quality of life has been protected, maintained and enhanced. Following are some highlights: Yes We CanNabis? Uhh…NO! The City of LA and commercial cannabis growers were ready to turn areas of CD7 into “Green Acres”. Areas like Lake View Terrace were targeted for mega marijuana grows. The FTDNC and CD2 were able to stop the weed encroachment into our residential areas and High Fire Risk Zones. Solar Panel Farms: The Crop That Was Not Pseudo environmentally conscious Wall Street firms wanted to pollute our hills and open spaces with ill conceived “solar panel farms”. Via the civic orgs, common sense counter arguments were presented and prevailed. The Gas That Didn’t Pass One of our premiere equestrian enclaves was saved from being driven out by a gas station 7-Eleven wanted to build right smack dab in the middle of it. Boozer Losers Alcoholic beverage outlet density is a problem along Foothill Blvd. between Osborne St. and Van Nuys Blvd. Two successful protests of the liquor licenses have been waged. Here’s to reducing CD7’s HIGH alcoholic beverage related DISEASE and DEATH rate;. which is in the 90th percentile. Not as Desirable: CA HSR Routes on the Outs? Currently Refined SR-14 is the preferred route and E1 & E2 are less desirable. The S.A.F.E. Coalition will remain vigilant and will continue to work to get all routes through our communities stopped.
Congratulations to everyone who assisted in these efforts. Let’s continue to do what we can, while we can.

It is so important to have partners in the work of preserving our equestrian lifestyle.
