Vox [voks] Latin. 1. A voice St. Benedict’s Prep has garnered a national reputation for its innovative approach to community building, student leadership development, and to combatting the emotional noise that far too many students face. Ninety-eight percent of St. Benedict’s graduates attend college and 87% have either graduated or are on track to do so. The Vox Institute was created in response to the expressed interest of schools, school leaders and education programs nationwide to understand the St. Benedict’s model. This system has enabled SBP to help young men, often at-risk, to develop and magnify their voice, while also providing them with opportunities to grow into themselves and as leaders. St. Benedict’s is committed to sharing our model with schools and education leaders who are committed to serving young people. The Vox Institute was established to fulfill that commitment.

St. Benedict’s Prep Deeply Held Beliefs
Students can literally run a school, and that’s a good thing.
✓ The kids run the school.
At St. Benedict’s, we believe that how we teach our students is as important as—if not more important than— what we teach them. To that end, we’ve adopted a school structure that is conducive to our students adopting a culture of earning, all the while gaining opportunities to grow as leaders.
✓ Whatever hurts my brother hurts me.
Student Counseling Students’ hearts are just as essential as their minds. St. Benedict’s Prep has adopted a unique approach to student counseling: in an interest to address the hearts of students, St. Benedict’s combines positive peer pressure with a clinical approach towards students’ social-emotional health.
Community Building Whatever hurts my brother hurts me. Whatever helps my brother helps me. St. Benedict’s engages in a series of activities that aim to create a sense of solidarity, cohesiveness and positive morale among its students. Further, the School aims to foster transgenerational bonds that allow current students to engage with alumni to learn from and become part of the Benedict’s legacy.
Life & Career Preparation If you wait, it’s too late. The BIGS Career Development Center equips St. Benedict’s students with a series of developmental tools, guidelines and principles that encourage students to think about their future – life, career, happiness, etc. – now.
✓ Student voices must be discovered or amplified. ✓ Give up what you want for what we need. ✓ We can do things together we cannot do alone. ✓ Trust each other. ✓ You are part of a legacy. ✓ Don’t do for a kid what he can do for himself.
